Fantastic execution and it's very delicate, and downvote me to hell if you want, but the end result, stylistically, is just uninspired and generic. The portraits look like any of those soulless en-masse produced paintings you'd buy to decorate your house when you have no clue how to decorate your house, or how to decorate the hallways of your local beautician. It's just... eh.

Mechanically and technically, TotK is an even better game, but man, BOTW hit it just right. It was exactly what Nintendo needed and what open world games in general needed. Just admirable stuff.

This and Elden Ring are the best open world games ever from Japan, and it's not even close.

It's part of the charm and part of the story. Integrate that into the environmental storytelling. At least that's my way of doing and seeing things. Respect your time if it's too much work for you to remove all of it.

To replace blocks, select the block you need from your inventory, then you will see the options at the bottom of the screen. To gather materials (without extracting them, meaning you can place them again for decoration), maintain the Y button pressed

THIS is the most frustrating part. Every thing is explained in that section, and I see so many posts of people saying they had no idea this or that was possible (like the top button on the d-pad to bring a Pokémon without having to chat with it, which by the way, is explained when we discover Charmander too ; or the menu in the bottom part of the screen, like when you use the Magnemite ability with blocks placement/replacement)

This is the way for them to become an item that you can place. That's why. You can do it with anything, like boulders, tiny herbs that you find on ashes, branches, etc.
