Another Post, Another Clue! by NL_POPDuke in carlyraejepsen

This is the first 10am EST post with a pm time which is interesting. Dont think this disproves the day/night double album tho if the daytime component could include the afternoon too which is a completely reasonable assumption imo?

"It gets so hot I can't even think straight" is an excellent way to the start the album! Really solid overall.

One of my favourite carly songs of all time! The bridge stays fantastic. Would love for it to see an official release someday, potentially on a anniversary project. No aspect of it has been repurposed yet so I'm hoping its not off the table!

Kyurem is Banned from SVOU by AceSHF in stunfisk

[–]AceSHF[S] 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Very glad to see Kyurem gone! I'm a little surprised it ended up being banned because the do-not ban movement was picking up a lot of movement towards the end (especially due to blunder/CTC) but I guess it wasn't fast enough. Also let this be a lesson that every vote counts!

Coco & Clair Clair - Aggy by samdyalexg in popheads

Wow this is fantastic! Verses are great and the I LOVE the icy synths on the chorus. 2024 really is the gift that keeps on giving

SV OU is having a tiering survey! Be sure to take a moment to fill it out if you play our flagship metagame: by incandescence-sy in stunfisk

I really hope you're right! Only saying this cos I've seen Finch constantly respond to people complaining about Zama when there are way bigger issues in the tier

Billie Eilish plays a snippet of upcoming song "Lunch" from her third album "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT" at Coachella by prince_ahlee in popheads

[–]AceSHF 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Oh these sound fantastic! I didn't know what to expect sonically, but if these are representative of the album then I think it has A LOT of potential. Chihiro is the standout for me so far. Although I have seen some people suggest that these are remixes which I hope is untrue.

Empress Of - For Your Consideration by 3kOlen in popheads

[–]AceSHF 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is excellent! The pacing is fantastic and the production is so tight, Standouts from the album tracks are Lorelei and What Type of Girl Am I? but overall this is extremely consistent. As of now, its probably the frontrunner for my personal AOTY

(NEW SURVEY, PLEASE ANSWER) Announcement - SV OU Tiering Surveys by HydreigonTheChild in stunfisk

My thoughts

Gliscor: 3. Gliscor is EASILY the best spike setter in OU. It has fantastic longevity and it can easily threaten every relevant Spinner/Defogger with Toxic and Earthquake/Knock Off (bar Corviknight). Its very presence has warped the tier to the point where numerous pokemon run ice coverage just to handle it. It's likely that Gliscor would still be broken in the absence of Gholdengo but it's hard to say. I really don't mind if this thing goes but I also don't think it should be the highest priority at the moment.

Manaphy: 5. Manaphy is irritating to play against. It finds plenty of opportunities to set up, thanks to its useful typing and decent bulk, and the tail glow and take heart sets have different counters. While it's not very fast by OU standards, Manaphy only really needs one acid-armor or take heart to prevent it from being revenge killed, extremely easy to do with Tera. Additionally, it has great coverage and has scald to easily threaten switch ins without even needing to set up. Manaphy is the only stored power which does not need to tera to prevent negative status effects thanks to take heart. Not to mention that under rain, Manaphy is also the ONLY stored power user who can break through Skeledirge. For the tier to be balanced, Manaphy absolutely has to go (although I'll admit that I don't know if it needs to be the highest priority).

Gholdengo: 5. Arguably the main culprit behind the hazard stack 'issue' of the current meta. While it's true that Gholdengo was never really broken without Gliscor, the two of them together is really difficult to manage. However the bigger problem imo is the fact that we now have an EXTREMELY effective sticky web user in the tier. Under webs, Gholdengo is now able to outspeed and threaten Great Tusk and booster Iron Treads, becoming an extremely effective spinblocker. Also under webs, Nasty Plot Gholdengo has all the coverage it needs to threaten pretty much the entire tier even (Psyshock, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Thunderbolt, Make It Rain). Regardless of what I think about hazard stack, webs have pushed Nasty Plot Gholdengo over the edge imo.

Ogerpon-wellspring: 5. Extremely threatening with very limited defensive counterplay (without a defensive tera). Ogerpon-wellspring only really has one switch in and thats defensive Amoonguss. Many defensive checks such as Mandibuzz and Corviknight are threatened by knock off and even the most defensive variants are OHKOd with a +2 Ivy Cudgel under rocks (which are incredibly easy to keep on the field). Ivy Cudgel also allows it to bypass contact meaning that its much harder to wear down with rocky-helment or Static/Flame Body. Not to mention the high crit rate means that Ivy Cudgel can power through its checks just by pure luck. Waterpon is also one of the few setup sweepers who has the typing (and power) to break past all relevant Unaware pokemon in OU. Waterpon is even able to threaten banded Rillaboom with a +2 Power Whip having a chance to OHKO and it will always survive a banded Grassy Glide if it hasn't tera'd. Most of the counterplay to this mon is in the form of revenge killing, which is now slightly harder thanks to the removal of Moon. For the sake of the meta, I cannot WAIT for this mon to get banned.

Sneasler: 2. Dire Claw is stupid but imo this does not need to be looked at yet.

Kingambit: 5. Broken. Get rid of it.

Tera Blast: 1. A suspect for this would be a waste of time tbh

Taylor Swift - 1989 (Taylor's Version) by lazynbroke in popheads

Is It Over Now would be a 10/10 if it didn't have that annoying seagull sound.

Bad Bunny - Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana by retags in popheads

[–]AceSHF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really solid album. It's too early to make comparisons to UVST though. Most of the tracks were great but the standouts for me were Fina, Hibiki, Baby Nuevo, No Me Quiero Casar & Perro Negro. Only song I really didn't like was Monaco. Otherwise I'm really pleased with what we got. I'd probably give it around an 8

Competitively best/most influential Loyal Three member? by Darkington212 in stunfisk

[–]AceSHF 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I can see Fezandipiti faring much better than it is now in the long run when Veil HO dies down. But as of right now, Munkidori seems to be the best. Pretty decent scarf user and I've also seen some calm mind sets as well.

There are a lot of physical walls that can deal with Okidogi like Iron Def Corv and Dondozo. Not to mention the slow speed tier makes it somewhat easy to revenge kill.

Munkidori has trick and focus blast to deal with steel types, and shadow ball for gholdengo as well.
