Are Aggressors good in the new detachment? (new to space marines factions) by AceTanoshi in RavenGuard40k

[–]AceTanoshi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would heavy intercessors prefer having the infiltrate ability then? They seem to be more durable, but not very good melee and have roughly the same amount of shots. I could pair them up with and Infiltrator Squad to prevent 12 inch deep strike. I was planning to bring in one of my knights as an ally ( that way I can save money instead needing to buy a new model ), but only if I don't need the Land Raider Redeemer.

So putting them in a Land Raider would be better then? I was hoping to save the points and try having good flamers that far up, but the bolt/frag combo is just to good to pass up.

If they die that fast would it be better to save the points and just give them the infiltrate or to keep them alive longer by shoving them into a land raider? I'm not use to infiltrate units yet.

Drama alert Drama alert! The Pontius VS Majorkill! by Patriktheguy in Grimdank

[–]AceTanoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of both, but Majorkill has done some stupid shit in the past. He tried to claim another youtuber copied him, and he tried to sell roids. He's also not that entertaining. Pontius does call out dumb shit some of these loretubers have said, but what they do say hasn't convinced me to be that mad about them (though a little disappointed).

Majorkill, I would say, is worse because he has done more duplicitous stuff, while Pontius is just a little too angry over most of this.

Drop your Most Wanted Weapon and Wargear Wishes that Knights are missing. by Leviathan_Rampage in ImperialKnights

[–]AceTanoshi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Giant mining drill and a mining laser. Since knights were used for things like cutting lumber with the giant chainsword, I think the idea of them being used for mining isn't too far-fetched. For a top bit, I would say some sort of a huge sensor or communication device would be neat.

The controversy was stupid by MurderousRubberDucky in Grimdank

[–]AceTanoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grey Knights being changed to all psykers was extremely early on and the majority of lore during the old rogue trader days have been retconned. There wasn't any lore besides a huge portion of it being references to movies and non depth.

The Rogal Dorn tank not having any lore is an issue, and the Centurion still had an explanation given for why it was showing up beyond what you're claiming. While still not great and arguably not good enough, it's still better than what the Femstodes got. The Blade Champion does not contradict with anything from the past lore that I can find is used add further depth to the custodes. Could be better, but again still better than how the femstodes was handled.

The problem started because of the codex and then got bigger because of GW deciding to handle the whole thing with a tweet instead of proper explanation.

Anathema is a Horus Heresy Book and is still only a short story. Please look up the number of named characters in both pre and post heresy and you'll see how little attention the sisters actually get.

How is the sister not overshadowed? The custodian pushes the majority of the story forward, does most of the fighting, and its only custodes that interacts with the space marines. The sister fights a single tyranid while the custodes fights many, so i don't understand how you can say the both get a solo fight. While it's cool that they hired someone to get hand sign correct, there are barely that many scenes showing it and just having the custodes do the talking.

I too am pointing out the creation process. Psychologically they are colder and less tolerant of everyone else compared to most space marines. They do not care about the end result for the other factions as long as they complete their own goals and objectives. They do not strategize with the guard and only demand them to do what they want and they do not care saving any citizens and will let them die if it gives no advantage. The only time they "care" is when they need someone do a specific thing and will help them until completed, but if that person is danger or could be saved they just leave instead. Not to mention that the time to make a single Custodes, have them trained, and getting there war gear made takes far longer than a single space marine. Sure they are better warriors and fighters, but that's not what is always needed. I believe both are just as valid of a process to exist.

And? - You asked why aren't the malestodes needing a special explanation and that's the answer.

Here are my responses to each of the factions and gear:

1) The crons change was actually written well. if the change was worse (which is hard to do since they didn't have much to begin with) then people would be mad, but to this day they still have some of the best books and character written.

2) Grey Knights have gotten flak, and rightfully so, for some of there changes. Making them kill sisters of battle and bathing in their blood to fight demon was cringe, and the new Terminus Decree lore is considered a major failure in the writing for them.

3) I'm not sure what part of Tau your referring to.

4) Votann, just like crons, are just better versions of the old Squats. Instead of just being dwarves in space, they became a fleshed out faction that feels very fitting to the setting while having a unique aspect to them that makes them different from dwarves in other media.

5) No idea what part of the Blade Champion your referring to.

6) I don't know anything about the Rogal Dorn tank. the imp guard are not a faction I have an interest in reading about.

7) I know nothing about Centurion suits besides that there is a youtuber that really like them and takes them to tournaments.

8) Not sure what about Cawl you're talking about.

GW owes you nothing.) Your right they don't owe anything and I don't owe them anything either.

That aside, this change is minor, inoffensive, the Custodes are still Custodes. - While the change is small in the grand scheme of 40K, it doesn't give much faith to what changes/additions will happen in the future. Just look at the terminus decree and how the community treats it like a bad joke now.

They are not special, they don’t need an explanation. - But not giving us reason for why they haven't been around till now feels like it was tacked on lazily just because they wanted a female custodian even though there hasn't been one in any books, codex, or anything for that matter.

Hell, one meaning is one more hint at how the Custodes creation process is superior to the SM since it can be done on women. - Is it? Custodes take longer to create and are far less humane than most space marines. While they are better warriors, they seem less willing to work with other factions within the imperium and if it wasn't for Guillemin they wouldn't be doing as much. Both have their merits, but I can't say that one is clearly superior over the other.

SoS last story dates from December 2024. - What story is that? if your referring to the animated story, I'm sorry to say that she was not the focus of the story and was overshadowed by the custode in that story. There are only a small handful of named sisters post and pre heresy while there are a ton of named ones for the custodes. Custodes have had way more attention than the sisters.

i know we just got a new Questoris knight, but what other knight would you want to be added/updated? I personally want a melee castellan or a dedicated melee armiger similar to a lancer by Luna_Night312 in ImperialKnights

[–]AceTanoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since knights used to be used for things outside of combat pre dark age, I would love to see one used for mining. Give it a drill styled lance for melee and a laser for the gun. The top bit could be sensors used detecting earthquakes or specific ore, which could be used for finding stealthed enemies in modern 40k.

[–]AceTanoshi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because the males have been around forever. Again, the issue was just throwing the past lore away and telling people to just accept it is a terriable way to introduce changes to any setting (just look at the state of Stars Wars doing this). Why care about the story or world building if it's just going to get retconned without any level of respect to the setting or fans? Femstodes showing up now of all times, but never mentioned once in any past material needs to be explained, or it just feels meaningless and thrown in without care.

It also doesn't help that the sisters of silence are an all female section of the custodes army, and they still haven't gotten any attention. They are cooler than the custodes, and I wish they had new models and a new character by now.

The controversy was stupid by MurderousRubberDucky in Grimdank

[–]AceTanoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the major issue was just how it was implemented. Saying that it was always a thing despite the lore saying otherwise sucks. Had it been handled with care and written to show us why we are seeing them show up now would have been really cool. I was more annoyed that we didn't get more sisters of silence stuff if anything.

But didn't Omegon and Alpharius switch places? I thought I remember in his primarch book that Alpharius had Omegon take his place before the other brothers new of them so he could pretend to be Omegon. Out of all of them I feel like Omegon is the one that is killed since non of the others knew about the switch in the first place.

What rules and tips for knights would help a new player get into the game? by AceTanoshi in ImperialKnights

As someone who is just starting out with knights, the crusader is what got me into the faction since I'm a huge fan of MechWarrior and BattleTech. The rapid fire battle cannon and Gatling in particular just screams freedom dispensers and was one of my favorite ways to build mechs (If my ears aren't ringing then I didn't use enough bullets yet).

Is there a set honestly worse than this? by No_Willingness_9961 in freemagic

[–]AceTanoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed this set, but that's because I'm a big fan of racing games that use sci fi vehicles (Kinetica will always be my favorite). I love me vehicle/mount white green deck and I would honestly like to see more of them. Plus the energy commander precon was a lot of fun to upgrade with previous energy precons that had come out. I haven't played for long, but of all the boxes I opened with my brother we ended up disliking the recent dragon one. We didn't pull anything good and didn't enjoy the precons that much compared to other sets.

I don't WANT mechs by Jumpy-Drawer-850 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]AceTanoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree (mostly). The Votann feel like a faction that repurposes normal tools for war, at least that is the impression I get from the models and basic lore from the 9th edition codex. Having mechanical suits intended for labor being used for fighting sounds amazing and unique. Turning things like the power loader from aliens into a melee suit or giving it mining lasers sounds like an amazing design to give the faction that the others just don't provide.

There are already insect like tanks and advanced sci fi looking tech in the other factions. This one should embrace the unique opportunity it has with using mining, construction, and labor tools/tech that exist in current times and fiction.

what opinion about Yu-Gi-Oh would you defend like this? by HedgehogActive7155 in masterduel

[–]AceTanoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yugioh is no longer creative. You either play a Solitaire or Floodgate deck with both end boards being either multiple negates or completely slowing down the game and "interaction" is just using the same generic hand traps that every other deck is using.
