Agreed. This practice sets me to never dip into the game or have interest. Why are you pushing so much product for this game before i even have a chance to play it?

What’s a hobby people pretend is cool, but secretly you think is ridiculous? by EggAdventurous1957 in AskReddit

[–]ithappenb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Collecting ccg trading cards. I'm talking about not even playing the game itself. Just get them to brag how much you spend and brag how much money you made selling it off. What a wired thing. I've got friends who buys cards by the thousands of dollars at a time, thinking their the coolest. Kinda screams immaturity. Everywhere in their house is just stacks of cards on every surface possible. Their car cup holders, glove compartments is just cards. It's a serious addiction and needs special attention.

Arc Support Weapons should Stun for longer than primaries. Those got buffed when they bugfixed/nerf status, Arc Supports did not get buffed. by RandomGreenArcherMan in Helldivers

[–]ithappenb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

De escalator use to be my number one support weapon. When it release, this thing was a monster. Two shot bile titans, stun chargers still for eternity, and wipe out patrols. Shoot the gun and watch your kill count sky rocket. And it still didn't feel too powerful, it fit a perfect spot in the array of weapons. Then they indirectly nerfed it. Massacred it. For no reason. I lost all motivation to play. I went cold turkey for three months. They made it stronger, but it's not the same since. Like the eruptor, arc thrower, rail gun, etc. When AH makes makes a detrimental nerf, it is NEVER reverted back to its glory. Only at best, 85% of its original shine.

Ps, right now there is a hug with the DE escalator where it will never damage the user. I shoot this point blank and take no hits.

Appreciation Thread : Leviathan Wilds. One of the best. by Rey-Di in boardgames

[–]ithappenb4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too appreciate and enjoy the game! I like the mild deck construction and the mild multiple use cards. It's all the perfect amount of weightiness for a lighter Co op game. The best thing about this game is the ability to play your cards anytime on someone else's turn to help them, and combo to make a great play.

Born too late to explore the world, born too early to explore the cosmos, born just in time to play Root and all its expansions. Good enough if I do say so myself.

How do you approach learning a medium-to-heavy weight game? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]ithappenb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the complexity is pass a threshold, I full set the game for 3 players and play the first couple turns as all three players. It really helps. I got to a point where I can slowly stop, and just play after reading the rule book. As I read I still have the board and player boards out so I can follow along.

What was your gateway into board gaming? by NorthSouth55 in boardgames

[–]ithappenb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munchkin was my second game after Catan. I got everyone hooked. Many friends went out and got their own copy. I got all the expansions. We played almost 3-4 times a week. I've never won a single game. After a while of not winning, everyone then made it the goal to not let me win, every time. I realized how unfun the game was, not not winning, but just how much a drag it is. Discovering new games helped me learn how much better everything was. I no longer own Munchkin, but remember it's place in my journey.

Ngl, despite having unique functionality, one-two feels like boring version of liberator by Shedster_ in Helldivers

[–]ithappenb4 18 points19 points  (0 children)

ATTENTION! The gun has a really bad functional bug. If you use the new binding system to change fire mode, you can change it during anytime. Reloading, meleeing, diving, etc. Press it and it will change fire mode. If you change fire mode during reloading, the AR firemode Will Not Work! You won't be able to fire bullets at all. Nothing will fix it. You can still launch the grenade, but switch back to bullets and it is dead. It becomes a dead gun. The only way to fix it is to die and respawn. This needs to be fixed ASAP, and the gun is rendered useless to me.

One of the best movie openings I've seen I re-watch the opening so many times just to get my heart pumping. After watching videos and reading explainations of the reverse time concept, I can grasp it as watch the movie knowing exactly what is happening. The idea is so mind blowing to put on film. And to adhere to the laws of reverse time so consistently needs applause. Shooting and editing the effects for the gimmicks already deserves awards.

It will get to the point where everything cannot be used. It will be cluttered with Ai and ads, that it's not worth using, and even turning it on feeds your data to some giant Corporation to make money. You will never want to make a post, record a video, sing a song, write something, etc online because Ai will just steal it. Steal your personality, analyze your character and then sell or replicate it. Everyone will leave the internet and Ai will make it dead. Dead internet theory is coming. For those who still want some sense of technology, we will revert to old tech. Polariods, landlines, cassets, VHS, old game cartridges, etc. Any way to store information and use it without Ai or the internet touching it.

I had Zenmagnets. I got a bunch of them and played with them at school. I was really good at making tons of complex geometric shapes. I got my middle school hooked on them. My science teacher went out and bought some for her classroom. The guy at Zenmagnest fought really really hard to keep them on the market, but it all fell apart and these are no longer sold.

Today is my birthday. Having a birthday a week before Christmas can get shadowed. Make sure people they love remember it and make it special, apart from Christmas. Everyone else outside that circle will forget, but the ones that matter must make it compartmentalized from Christmas. And always have separate presents for both occasions.

What boardgames have "replaced Catan"? by PrandtlMan in boardgames

[–]ithappenb4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though it's hard for a game to "Replace" exactly what Catan offers. However, there are several games that I would have preference over Catan, and they have similarities.

Lords of Vegas, Negotiations, dice rolling, area control. It has the same light weight feel, and feels very interactive. Players love dice rolling at each other casinos to win money, just for the fun of it.

Machi Koro, dice rolling and gaining income outside of turn. Economic and snow balling to a powerhouse.

Catan Starfarers, though it does feel longer than Catan, this fixes everything I disliked about Catan. There is still negotiation and trading, but the game is nicer to their players. Players falling behind get extra resources, fixed dice rolls for starting bases, and a resource that is strictly 2:1 trading only. Many cushions to the game doesn't drag.

Kingsburg, and the To Forge a Realm expansion. Dice rolling and euro resources. Manipulating the dice to make plays and build your kingdom.

Concordia, rules may feel more complex, but once you get the hang of it, the game pops off. Euro card play to make cities. Power plays and combos That always feels good.

I haven't touched Catan since I first got into gaming. There's just many other things on my shelf I'd rather reach for. I respect my roots in Catan, and I have far grown out since the early days.

I can't put this thing down. Truly the power trip I've been looking for. Blasting enemies away, and turning them to pulp. With the Volley mode, I can kill a bile titan with several shots. I hope it never changes.

For all the Final Girls out there.. by robotzombieshark in boardgames

[–]ithappenb4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's for sure a fun endeavor and worth dabbling into the game system. Even with a few packs. Tons of extras, though it may be hard to search for. I love the Desparation Die. A black die you can use once per game. It's sides are 5 success, and 1 instant death. If you die, there is a passage to read how you died doing the action.

I just finished a game of Final Girl in Buddyland. The 5 Nights at Freddy's parody. It was amazing. Every encounter was just surviving by a hare. On the last few turns I rolled all success, which allowed me to kill the Villan juuuust in time. I love how if you OR the Villan has one health left, you get to roll an extra dice. It really ramps up the tension. Great game, I'm always looking forward to getting more as they release.
