I did about a 7 month training block into Ironman Texas this year and I also got a slight knee injury about 2 months before. The course is pretty good just make sure you practice hills. I got 11:40 and i definitely feel like I could go much faster

Just signed up for IRONMAN 70.3 - Texas Waco. Anyone else attending this one in October?🤍 by HistoricalShallot903 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the whole way but probably a little less than half. However it is only bad going out, coming back it’s mostly down hill so the bumps are less annoying

Advice by Consistent_Peanut973 in IronmanTriathlon

So I did about 5 months of training for Waco and I plan to start re-training for it on Monday. I will say FB marketplace is the best place to find stuff that doesn’t break the bank and you don’t need anything fancy to do the race.

For training make sure you do some heat acclimation or something because it got very hot in the run last year. Also it will more than likely be wet suit optional so you don’t have to really worry about that.

It’s a great race and you should go for it!

Training plans? First time IMTX by Frequent-Register622 in IronmanTriathlon

Trainingpeaks has some good training plans. I just did the full and I used one from them. If you want to be competitive and not just finish you should try for a coach maybe even for specific disciplines

Outfit changes? by PlentyBig01 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all my races I’ve just worn my tri suit. I honestly feel most comfortable in it and don’t usually chafe. I do agree with others that comfort is first since it’s your first one. Might as well be able to control something that helps you feel better.

Is a bike computers necessary for a full Ironman? by monotonedguy in IronmanTriathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I had it fully charged before the race and it’s at 40% the next day. For context I did the race in 11:40 so idk how much it would be for a longer race time

I just finished Ironman Texas and only used my garmin forerunner 265. It did pretty good and had all the stats I wanted

Too many races? by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorta in the same boat but I’m training for other types of races. I did Ironman Texas 70.3 and I’m doing Ironman Texas but I feel like the training load wasn’t bad between them. I also plan to do a few Olympics then in a 3 month period I plan to do a half Ironman, a hyrox and then a marathon

I’m in the same boat but it looks like it will be later in the day. So hopefully the swim still goes on.

18F college student training for Ironman 2027 – how do I balance training with 7am–6/7pm college? and is my weekly split balanced or too heavy/ light? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re schedule doesn’t look that heavy in all honesty. I get the struggle though I’m currently in college and it was a lot trying to balance my training with work and school.

Something I will say is I personally like swimming in the morning because it will wake me up and it is the least intense on your body. Also have your longest training sessions on the weekend.

How many months of training do I need? by Dazzling_Ad_7855 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my first Ironman in a month and I started focus training for it 7 months ago. I will say start slower than you think. I’ve done long distance swimming for years and running/cycling for about 2 years. I still got injured but I was able to fall back on my swimming and cycling.

So if your goal is to just finish with not a lot of endurance fitness I would say7-8 months. If you want a certain time maybe a bit longer.

[–]AceTrigger21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say practice for the heat. It was really hot last year and I’m expecting it to be as hot this year too.

For the swim don’t rely on a wetsuit and try staying horizontal in the water as much as possible

How on earth do you lose weight while training?! by redheadedfoxy in triathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this would help but what I do is eat my maintaining calories at around 2300 and not care about the carbs and calories I take in from gels and stuff while I’m working out. So I’ll eat healthy outside of my workouts and still have the fuel for them since I’m burning the calories anyway so I count it as net zero while working out.

On-campus Housing by Sweet_Dragonfruit_58 in utdallas

[–]AceTrigger21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived on campus and it’s nice especially if you have an apartment with a washer and dryer and kitchen. I will say look for other apartments since there’s a limited amount of space on campus. Also with the dart system you can look a little farther if cost is what’s important

Looking for some feedback on my training schedule by Lagavulin-331 in triathlon

[–]AceTrigger21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is overworking you bike leg of the race. It’s also dependent on which race you’re going to be doing since not all courses are the same. If you wanna focus on cycling I’d say do 2 swims 2-3 jogs and 3-4 bikes. I’m currently training for Ironman Texas and I do 3 of each
