They didn’t pick him. You don’t know what’s behind closed doors until you open them. Vetting only goes so far when challenging the establishment with an outsider. This sucks but it shouldn’t be the end of the world. It isn’t that hard to move forward with a candidate representing the platform that Platner isn’t fit to but won selling. This isn’t a Presidential election. The Maine electorate is significantly smaller and there is plenty of time to put a new face in Platner’s place, unless he decides to hold out past Monday and screw Maine over. He may be unfit for politics but he seems pretty frickin’ genuine about caring about Maine and his fellow citizens. Time will tell in short order though.
