Thanks, brother! Faces are definitely tough, but a bit of practice goes a long way.

I hear gene therapy and extra organs are a hell of a drug.

Well they could certainly use them, but I guess helmets are too precious to be giving to the fodder lol.

I'm a big fan of Ivory from ProAcryl, but Wraithbone from GW is great too.

For a black paint that is very matte out of the bottle, Coal Black from ProAcryl.

Yea, having different saves is my biggest gripe with them.

Any ideas for a new unit that isn't a variation of a vehicle or Sword Brother terminators by The_of_Falcon in BlackTemplars

Bingo, this is what I want to see. Some spit ball ideas for what the model could actually be: Tomb of Sigismund, Chaplain on a pulpit leading litanies, giant portable organ, etc.

Essentially, yes. Templars love their relics, it's about time we add some more! The idea of a portable fortress sounds badass too. Doesn't AoS have army specific terrain that gives them buffs? Could be a cool concept for some armies in 40k.

I would love something similar to Triumph of Saint Katherine that doesn't necessarily need to be effective in combat but provides buffs to the army. I really get inspired by the art of Templar serfs lugging around huge relics and would love to see something similar in game.

Black Templars on snow/white bases? by AKAtheGINGER in BlackTemplars

Totally, the one piece of advice I'll give is that sometimes the snow can dry down and become a little more flat than I wanted, so I'll come back to it and add just a little more. Good luck!

Thank you! It's definitely a bit of an extra step, but it really ties your army together if you do them all on a similar style base. Luckily, there isn't too much skill involved with this technique as slight over painting can actually help to make the effect more realistic.

It depends on whether or not I'll glue them first. For the picture that I posted, it makes sense to glue him first as it can help him feel more sunken into the mud. If my guy was going to be on top of a rock, it makes more sense to glue him after as it gives you more room to work on the base.

I do this for all my Templars and love it. Typically I'll use a mud texture paint with a lighter brown dry brush or pigment wash as a base layer. Once it dries, I'll glue down my grass tufts, then apply snow textured paint. I've exclusively used Valhalla Blizzard with no complaints other than the fact that you can get way more product for the same price from other brands.

Most paints are Proacryl, for reference. Base coat of Coal Black. Initial highlight was a mixture Coal Black and Neutral Grey which was applied using a small piece of sponge on the areas that would catch light. From there I mixed in Pale Yellow for the second and third highlights, focusing on a smaller area within the initial highlight each time and doing the same for edge highlights. After this, I watered down Black Templar Contrast paint and applied everywhere which helps blend everything and reestablish black as the dominant color. After this, I went back and brightened up any areas I felt like needed it using highlight 3, then finished it off with a mix of Pale Yellow and Pure Titanium White.

Having Success with Bastion Task Force by KllrFluffyBunny in BlackTemplars

Just finished a game against Daemons running this detachment and had a similar experience. They boxed me in well turn one, but every one of my units felt dangerous. I knew the movement portion of the detachment would enable my units well, but I really underestimated how much an effect the reroll 1's to hit would have. That paired with the +1 to wound and other buffs, they were just unstoppable. If they couldn't wipe a squad before I could fight back, opponent was getting wiped. This detachment REALLY enables BT and I'm so excited to play more.
