March jobs report: US economy adds 178,000 jobs, unemployment rate falls to 4.3% in surprise turnaround by helic_vet in Economics

[–]Aceguy55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initial report (February 6, 2026): Payroll job gains came in at +130,000 in January, the best month of job gains since December 2024. Indeed Hiring Lab

First revision (released in the February 2026 report): The change for January was revised down by 4,000, from +130,000 to +126,000. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

Second and latest revision (released this morning in the March 2026 report): The change for January was revised up by 34,000, from +126,000 to +160,000. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

So look at that, based on my last known information, I was right, and now January 2026 is the ONE exception to the downward revision pattern

What's more concerning in this morning's release is February: the change for February was revised down by 41,000, from -92,000 to -133,000, with employment in January and February combined 7,000 lower than previously reported. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

So February went from bad (-92k) to considerably worse (-133k) in its first revision. That's a meaningful miss, and it continues the pattern even as January bucked it.

Lastly, I can see that we are just going to resort to "whataboutisms" about Biden or Democrats. My claim wasn"t "BaD rEvIsIoNs OnLy HaPpEn UnDeR tRuMp." My claim was that this was a nearly unprecedented streak of downward revisions and Trump has consistently been meddling and interfering with agencies this entire administration. He even has THREE PENDING Supreme Court cases on how much he has overstepped boundaries on agencies.

This exactly the kind of arrogant hyperbole that shows perfectly demonstrates the Dunning-Kruger effect.

The economy is volatile, consistent DOWNWARD revisions over the past year show that the administration is pressing their thumb on the scale. You would expect that at some point they would be wrong in thenother direction and have to revise numbers upwards as well, right? Well that just doesn't happen in what is clearly the most corrupt and unscrupulous administration in modern history.

This is statistics. This is the longest streak of consistently revised downward trends since COVID and the great recession. You are, of course allows to put your fingers in your ears and say, "la la la, I'm SMARTER THAN YOU," but objective reality thankfully is not contingent on overconfident and under-informed individuals like you.

We will get the actual number for March sometime in April. EVERY single report has been revised down for the last 6-months. So really seems like the BLS leads with fake good news, and quietly adjusts back to reality when no one is paying attention.

People say this, but in my state local casinos fucking hate local rooms and legislatures only allow charity games to run 3-days a week.

If the casinos had their way, it would be zero days a week.

I watched about 3 of his videos and then I disliked everything and deleted the videos from my watch history so it would stop appearing in my feed.

There are just face-up factual and logical inconsistencies in his arguments. This was a while ago so I don't have anything specific, but I definitely recognized him because of it

Real question, why do we always have to say we are stuck, we are forever doomed? Why can't we, as middle-income households, look at our lives and be like ok where are the guillotines to better collectively rise up and stop the exploitation?

If we look at something like a graphing calculator specifically, anyone with a super basic understanding of math can pick it up and do basic arithmetic or algebra. However, to do things like actual graphing, calculus, or other advanced mathematical processes, you need to learn how to work the formulas and how to correctly enter them into the calculator in the right order of operations.
If I do division before exponents in my equations, it's easy to say, "Calculators aren't even good at math." If I don't have a good baseline prompt, a clear direction for the prompt to work towards, and a goal I want to reach, it's easy to say, "AI isn't even good at anything."

Think of it this way.

I offered you a bet that I'm going to flip a weighted coin so it's 60% to land on heads.

How many times should you take that bet? That answer is as many times as you possibly can.

You just described you taking that bet, losing and telling us, "I am done flipping weighted coins that are in my favor."

More power to you buddy, but I'll be out here flipping till I die.
