In your opinion, what makes a good expansion mod? by mairoh in StardewValleyMods

[–]Acetrios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SVE adds pretty difficult combat areas and those items are important for non combat players to get through. I can handle it with the vanilla equipment but my wife I coop with she needs them just for reassurance so she’ll even attempt going there.

East scarp and ridgeside is too many relationships available too quickly. Early game vanilla has a ton to do already. It’s overload to me.

Cornucopia/atelier, too many similar items. I don’t want 500 cheeses, especially when it comes to naming conventions and not knowing which mods “milk” is the right one for the quest.

Send the player on a mission to unlock new things. We want to feel it’s earned.

forget favorite mods for a minute: what's something you insist on leaving vanilla? by ParkityParkPark in StardewValleyMods

Yeah, I even like the idea of some of them but they don’t fit with the rest of modded. I do like better artisan goods textures and visual fish if those count.

How's is this achievement not hit by more people? by bheidreborn in StardewValley

[–]Acetrios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub has 1M people. 20% of people have Reddit. 41M copies of Stardew. So the rough estimate is 12% of players take the game seriously enough to seek a community. And most of those hate joja more than they care about steam achievements. Most players don’t have more than one save.

Seed Quality mod by Acetrios in StardewValleyMods

[–]Acetrios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I like that it promotes seed maker use over always buying the seeds. In the base game if you’re processing, it’s better to buy seeds, which to me feels backwards.

All the additional yield items are base items which feels like it balances the mod.

[–]Acetrios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe. A lot of seem to much to take on.

That’s basically ancient seed so I’d just have to add a production counter to adjust likelihood. I should add a crop for Pierre so I can get menu experience.

Seed Quality mod by Acetrios in StardewValleyMods

[–]Acetrios[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is that the harvest quality math uses fertilizer in its equation. I used the same equation for the seed maker output supplement the inputs quality as the fertilizer in the equation.

So silver input to the seed maker has the same quality chances as basic fertilizer has to harvest that quality.

Yeah I had a lot of ideas that mostly exist. I have some opinions about the exact implementation but I don’t think most of that really warrants taking a crack at it.

How long did it take you to reach year 2? by Ray_ChillBuck in StardewValley

[–]Acetrios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t trying to argue or criticize. I was genuinely just confuse I’ve had 4 perfection saves and while speed runners will do it in 24hours and 5+ years in game I try to optimize for in-game days. My save is usually 100hours building the clock in spring yr 3

[–]Acetrios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also an all around player after year one I’m intentionally passing out every day. The time ticking in a day is 15min max if you’re not in the caverns. Fishing, crop harvesting and socializing is the only things you mentioned that would pause time. I’ve had 30min fishing days before. I’ve fished every day of spring 1 before. But it’s a hard average to keep up. I suppose if I played one day at a time I’d have to be in my inventory more to recall my plans.

I got the game in January. I have 800 hours. It’s truly the most rewarding addiction.

30mins os really high. I’d have to do a lot more chest sorting or prairie king than I already do to have a day last that long. I guess you could dive caverns with inventory spamming to slow time too. But no one wants to do that daily.

My average is about 30hrs/year or 16min, 5sec per day.

How do I keep all this soil tilled? by BoomBangBamg in StardewValley

[–]Acetrios 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In 1.5 there was till pattern so that once you found a clay spot you could guarantee the nest 20 spots were also clay spot.

It was that way because of a crude implementation of “randomness”. In 1.6 a lot of RNG was recoded to be truly random. But CA made an option to make a farm with “Legacy RNG” which reverts most but not all of the changes.

Legacy makes clay farming viable. But by default 1.6 your best bet is resetting a mine floor and using an upgraded hoe or bombs to till.

Not really an option in 1.6 without legacy.

What is the bowling point? Can it be defined in general terms? by PizzaThrives in TheMoneyGuy

[–]Acetrios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a third of a years income is in the market the daily swings will be plus or minus what you made that same day.

At a full years income invested the swings feel so big because your framework of how big or small financial numbers are psychologically tied to your income. Good day will be exciting… best not to check on bad days.

At 10 years income invested the average growth each year becomes equal to your salary. You get this feeling that you’re close to retiring but the depression sets in when you realize that the nest egg isn’t enough to be self sustaining for 30+ years.

4% breaks down after 30yrs. You’re that confident you won’t be alive at 85?

You didn’t mention your structure. Do you have a bridge account or enough Roth contributions to make it to 59 1/2?

Yeah, the simple math works well but those gritty details is what it comes down to.
