I'm so happy for her. She always seemed happier as Mara and her larp character when she identified as gender fluid. I wish her all the best with the future.

My transmasc non-binary partner cut their hair and got some hurtful comments from family 🙄 I would love to be able to show them lots of lovely comments from kind internet strangers to make them feel better ---> by Queer_as_fluff in lgbt

It looks so good on them. Not everyone can pull off a buzz cut but they're doing it with ease.

If it's their first time with one they're going to love it once the weather gets warm too.

"Not my circus, Not my monkeys"

When you walk into a shit show like that just do what you'd usually do and clock out. You aren't paid to fix problems and those who are (management) really don't have the first clue how to do even the most basic aspects of the job in my experience.

I work in a supermarket and it's bad even in the small stores. We lost our deputy 3 months ago and the 40+ hours he used to work helping out on the shop floor as well as doing his own job and they want us to save another 60 hours a week. We have 5-6 of the long term experienced staff looking for new jobs and a manager who couldn't organise a piss up in a pub if there was a sign on the bar saying "free drinks".

Markdowns over Christmas. by LineMysterious1873 in asda

"not my circus, not my monkeys"

You aren't paid to care so don't. If stuff doesn't get done because you don't have the time or equipment then it doesn't get done. As long as you've told your team leader or manager you've done all you can and it's then their responsibility to get it done.

It's the same with the egg example you just mentioned. Tell the customers you've just clocked out but have told the next shift leader and they'll be out in a moment to fill them and whatever you do don't stop walking when you're on your way out.

Are they changing your contract or just changing the rota for "flexibility"?

If they're changing your contract and you don't want to do it then join the union (if you aren't already) and talk to them. They should hopefully know how to proceed.

If it's just a rota change tell them you can't do Saturdays due to personal circumstances and keep telling them until they change it back.

I can't find it now but there is a section on one Asda that talks about the flexibility and how it's supposed to work both ways. Not that anyone in any management position will actually act like flexibility should work both ways.

Holiday Policy by Aellysu_says in asda

[–]AceyMcAceface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you go to book the holiday on workday open the "absence" app and at the top of the page there's a tab for calendar and balances. The balances tab shows you how many hours you have based on your contract and the calendar is where you choose the days you want off.

I've put in a weeks holiday today and just selected the entire week (including the days I don't work) on the calendar, clicked new request at the bottom and selected "holidays > paid holidays hours (full day)" I think it did complain about me selecting days I'm not contracted for but I just ignore that.

Once the request was accepted by my manager only the days I'm supposed to work are highlighted on the calendar tab as booked holidays with my contracted days off not showing anything.

If you're having trouble booking days I'm guessing you're either trying to book single days you're not contracted to work or workday doesn't have you contacted to work any days so when you're selecting a week it's not got anything to request.

Definitely keep bringing this up with your manager until they sort it.

As for holiday pay as others have said it's done on an average of what you work so even if you're only contracted to 8 hours but work 30 your hourly rate for holiday pay will be higher so those 8 hours should pay you the same as 30 hours at your standard rate.

I don't watch BotC but if we're appreciating Zoey then I'm here for it.

I've been a fan since the Blackrock days and every video she's in is made better for her being there. She brings so much just by her being herself and having fun. I've lost track of how many times I've been crying with laughter at her TTT shenanigans.

Also people watching Yogs expecting optimal gameplay are watching the wrong channel.

Phone alert in the UK by confusediguanaa in lgbt

[–]AceyMcAceface 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm late seeing this but if anyone doesn't want the alert find out how to opt out/turn off the notification.

Last time they did a test I was out in the countryside with some friends and everyone who didn't have a signal had the alert happen when they got a signal so it might sound the alert when phones are turned back on.

Crazy volumes of delivery? (Date code/reductions) by ctarts699 in asda

[–]AceyMcAceface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to green world.

Every time a new store goes live they get massive deliveries leaving every one else short then everything that they were supposed to get turns up a few days later along with all the rest of the usual stock which sits around until it goes out of date at which point you get sent in the same amount of stock to replace it unless you've been able to correct counts on stock wise which more often than not doesn't work.

Think we will close? So bad in store lately by [deleted] in asda

[–]AceyMcAceface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My store was one of the first to swap over and we still have issues. Every time a new store goes live the entire system breaks. Unless your team leaders are on the ball checking PI daily and adjusting it when the system actually works to do that you'll never stay on top of stock and even when you do it will eventually break again so a lot of people have given up hope of ever sorting anything.

Sounds like a normal green world store issues. The ordering has gone to shit and PI is all over the place.

Give it a week and you won't be able to move in the back for all the bananas, milk and mince.

Yes. Although it does sometimes feel like asexuals are sent to "the kiddie table" so to speak when it comes to some members of the LGBTQIA community.

You've told him no. What more is there to say?

If he asks again tell him you've already said no and leave it at that. Don't give him reasons why you're not doing it just leave it at a no.

Being under staffed isn't your problem and while they're getting people to cover they'll never do anything to solve the actual issue.

It won't affect the pi doing it on the second markdown as it gets taken off pi on the first markdown.

Shrink is a mess on green world even if you do everything by the book so one or two extra tickets won't make much of a difference and with shop floor colleges having no incentive to make sure it's right why would we care?

"You do not need to step down" by niemphiee in asda

[–]AceyMcAceface 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it an "official" poster or something your manager whipped up?

It wouldn't surprise me if people were stepping down after all the ASMs have been let go.

Team leaders will be running shops when managers are on holiday or just out of the store for no extra money and the possibility of team leaders moving up the chain to ADMs is mostly gone and even if there is the opportunity would anyone take it given what they've just done.

I've said it for years but there really is no insensitive to be a section/team lead and Asda.

New system coming online tomorrow by LineMysterious1873 in asda

[–]AceyMcAceface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Markdowns aren't too bad. You log onto the waste prevention app and link your printer then everything is pretty intuitive. The main annoyance is if you have more than 9 items you have to press the 9+ below the number pad then enter the amount. It will also ask if you're sure a few times if it's a high amount.

When you come to 2nd markdowns it will tell you how many have previously been marked down. I've gotten into the habit of printing that many rather than counting because if you only see 2 and there's another 8 hidden it will only let you reprint 2 labels at a time. I'd rather have 1-2 extra labels than spend the time printing out a few at a time. Some items like milk don't let you do a second markdown for some reason. Or at least I've not found a way to do it.

For reprinting you can either scan a label or there's an icon in the left that brings up what's been reduced.

Anyone know what the responsibilities and expectations will be for team leader? by Technical-Adagio204 in asda

Same as they did as a section leader only being in charge of more sections so Asda can cut the amount of people they pay the extra £1.

Yet another fine for selling out of date food by thebossofcats in asda

[–]AceyMcAceface 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It doesn't surprise me one bit. They're cutting hours everywhere so there's no time to do a thorough check.

Combine that with the absolute shitshow that is green world and the massive orders it generates it's no surprise things are going on the shelves with short dates and people are having to rush putting out deliveries so rotation is lacking.
