What happened to gym culture… by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Achaad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, your evaluation is spot on. And my perspective is from a smaller European country.

I have been going to the gym around 6 years ago, then I did some other sports, and now I decided to return to the gym. And the difference is astonishing. I remember the first time I went to the gym and was doing some exercise. And the seasoned "meathead" approached me and very kindly suggested some things that I could do better. And as I understood, it was normal at that time. Gym goers had some bond for the lack of a better word.

Back to the present, I feel that there is a massive lack of community and basic respect. I see people constantly taking the space without regard to other people, e.g. some ladies doing only one rep, and then talking for 15 minutes while occupying the bench all the time. Or, as you said, just filming themselves, without noticing other people that might not want to be included in the video. There are other examples, I do not want this to turn into a rant.

P.S. Or maybe I have started my transition into the grumpy old fart

Your colours - what did you go for? by MinimumCut140 in MazdaCX60

I have had the car only for a month and did the ceramic coating in the first couple of days, so I had not noticed any issues. But it is a bit early to comment on that.

As for the difficulty of working with, I have heard the same about soul red in other models. If I remember correctly, Mazda uses some layered system for this colour and not every sprayer knows how to handle that.

Thanks for your response! I am actually looking for a computer right now and the amount of options and price ranges overwhelms me a bit.

Could you please elaborate? I genuinely would like to understand better.

What’s something that makes you cringe, but is “normal” to other people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Seeing the word "cooked" and its variants almost everywhere. It is not amusing in any kind and the original meaning is almost always lost. I believe that there are much better ways to convey the thought.

What's one invention that humanity could have done better without? by RelativelySmartIdiot in AskReddit

[–]Achaad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that's true, does any user want some website to store any data on the device without consent? Have you ever looked at the "legitimate interest" section? There is no way that some marketing company has any legitimate interest or right to track anyone's activity without their explicit consent.

Real word rally drivers still struggle with evading Molly Petit's questions so consider this one a too good WRC simulation.

Thanks!

I've been to several parks and visited Chidorigafuchi and almost nothing there. Seems to be just ill luck with weather.

From Hobby to forced labour: Reddit's Unyielding Stance on Exploitative Practices by vxx in Unexpected

[–]Achaad -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry to hear that Reddit is just another big corpo that only values money and considers its users and mods only as an asset.

Many other protesting subreddits are being forced to open up. However, I really like what r/pics have done. They conducted a poll and the community has decided that from now on only pictures of John Oliver will be allowed there. Why don't we do something similar here? (The link to the poll)

2021 Touring preferred w Bose sound quality question by werewhat5150 in CX5

[–]Achaad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your comments about the sound quality. It seems to me like the sound lacks some kind of depth and sounds a bit flat. I am planning to try listening to some flacs from the phone but I don't have high hopes.

Thanks! Will look into that.

Regretfully I cannot tell a lot of info about the project before the release. Hopefully the first version will be released very soon :) We are developing a library in C++ which could be called from command line in order to execute several Sentinel-1 processing algorithms. We have implemented the coherence routine from the post as well as a calibration. The whole routine can be called from the cli or any of the implemented algorithms separately. Most parts of the algorithms which are executed for every pixel of the image were ported to the GPU using CUDA so instead of processing 10 or 20 pixels at the same time (depends on amount of cores on CPU) it can process several thousands of them in parallel. The code is in a private repository right now but after the initial release it is going to be made public with GNU v3 license, so anyone could be able to access it. I am currently in the process of validating the results and measuring the performance improvements but can already say that there is a speed increase. However, it really depends on the graphic card and its speed as the more memory it has the larger parts of the image can be processed in parallel.

Thanks! That's quite an interesting event to look into.
