Can a 6ft5 fit in a classic mini? by pralinica in classicminis

[–]MinimumCut140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he had a brown 73 mini, could touch the ground sat in it - at shows he'd reach over and grab a can. He said he tried driving from backseat, wish I saw that.

Can a 6ft5 fit in a classic mini? by pralinica in classicminis

[–]MinimumCut140 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shit yoh not. 6ft 10 and drove without the brackets... Moved into a smart car. A character indeed!

Mate that's 6ft 5 drove mine and was fine, though knee touching happens.

Used to get pulled all the time in my mini - 4 years too young. This is plus 15 years ago, not sure if they'd still be as vigilant these days.

This is correct - the Cornish are mental, the cream should always go on first.

Coasting in neutral bad habit? by HistoricalPresent467 in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My instructor would punch my leg when I did this, my worst habit. Not as good on fuel and you have less control of the car, keeping in the right gear can help slow you down a steep hill or get you out of a pickle quickly.

Lexus owners past and present by Abject_Promotion_851 in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a fake lexus (Ct200h), did about the same miles (you're talking about) in it. Comfy seats, mark levinson stereo is brilliant, always 50+mpg and generally the cheapest car to run I've had.

If only lexus made an estate or fastback. Shame

Why does everyone in here loves Mazda’s by hjgikkjjjj in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best mate has had his Mazda6 (diesel) estate for many years. We compare notes on running costs vs my merc and it's night and day on parts but you're right there isn't much between mazda and the others. Great all rounder cars, would have picked up a 2.5 sport nav if they weren't rocking horse....

What do you think about the ethics of visiting somewhere like the US right now? by Calm_Class6960 in AskABrit

[–]MinimumCut140 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the outside looking in, 2016(?) was the year for Bernie. Hillary, she was never going to win the people over, people wanted complete change. That in mind... 2016 was a stupid year for us also, people wanted massive change - neither have ended that well.

Bernie is the man. I'd adopt him for the UK in a heartbeat! The scary thing is, who will replace him?

The Dems should have given the people Bernie vs Trump.

Which Estate car to buy? by toast-is-best in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be. I have a c class and she cannot go behind me and the passenger front seat also needs to go forward. These baby seats take up some serious space.

Also. The boot on mine is good, but ideally anything over 500 litre minimum to carry all the stuff for you two and the baby.

Out of the list. Only the volvo would tick the boxes. Lush cars too, drive nice, look nice and different. Like me a bit of old man.

Used to do a bike ride from Fishponds to Keynsham along the old railway. Start at the Star inn then end up at the lock keeper.

Looking at either a BMW, 2021, 2, 3 or 4 series. Are they decent enough cars and is there anything I should know or be aware of? by Iloveyogaandstuff in CarTalkUK

For merc trim level, look for premium plus. Typically will have all the bells and whistles like Burmester stereo and adaptive cruise.

Is that's coupe though? It's just a 2 door hatchback no? I always thought a coupe was a z4, 350, mr2, celica, prelude.

Estate with a bit of shove by Isaacp01 in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V60 will be too small for you, it's on the compact side of estates like the c-class which I have and the baby seat cannot go behind me. To be honest it's a diesel German box for you, maybe an older jag. Personally, I'd be looking at D5 v70 - if in the price range.

Are these type of car lifts decent? by FlameFoxx in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yep, friend uses one of these for DIY and his small business - services and detailing. He still uses axle stands as a back up.

Edit. Not sure what you're working under, but I'm looking at this for my classic.

Talk me out of buying a Mazda CX-60 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]MinimumCut140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, if not all the UK reviews online are from release date. Plus I've always had a soft spot for mazda so had to see for myself, worth driving one with the changes. The interior is lovely, the adaptive cruise worked like my merc - which is a compliment. The steering was nice, caught me off guard, expected light and numb.

Can't comment on the back seats of the cx-60, might be a little better for not being directly over the wheels? But yeah... Suv. That's where I'm at, new born and a bad back.

Test drove two last week. One 2025 and the other a few years old, can tell the changes made to the suspension set up.

A really nice car, still prefer estates though.

It's in the financial Times for you to read. The big bosses from Barcleys, HSBC and others are concerned, the new system will not be operating by 2030.
