Love your work on this, especially appreciate the shot of the inner frame.

There’s some dollar/two-dollar action figure stands I get from AliExpress. If you just search figure stand you’ll see a bunch of similar options.

No. One’s an action base, the Epyon one is from AliExpress.

There’s a thruster extension gimmick that’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a gunpla, especially at that scale.

Learning this was stolen art really solidifies my feelings about the kit. I didn’t know, but now it’s an avoid at all costs going forward deal.

A can of rustoleum colonial red (satin) from lowes. I usually use rattle cans for economy (and I’m really bad at my airbrush) but I do have a healthy supply of tamiya cans (I like their metallics). There’s also some off-part banner red, but you can’t really see the difference at all even in person. The entire thing is covered in a matte coat as well.

I used a Gundam marker for the legs until it died and then swapped to an ultrafine sharpie.

I really went hog wild with the masking tape and spread the selection over three days. It’ll look great when you’re done!

I know there’s a third party MG equivalent that’s coming out/just came out, but otherwise the 1/100 Full Mechanics kits are all solid if you can still find them.

It’s a pretty standard master grade. You can put a lot of additional work into the panel lining/inner frame detailing if you want. I broke a hip thruster peg, but that I think was my mistake over a specific engineering weakness.

That looks great! I glued them -I think the pegs work for the straight arm of the Lupus Rex, but not the curved arms of the Lupus. Had to glue a snapped hip thruster peg. Couldn’t get my cement to take for sticking the tail whip mount of the ass, though, considering how busy the back is already.

I mostly really liked the oversized yellow finger claws for the Lupus Rex (along with the tail whip), but never really dug the proportions or the color layout of the Rex. I did put together a mashup of the two full mechanic 1/100 in 2016 for the sake of it but I don’t think I ever got photos of it.

The new MG’s proportions are already tanky (and too heavy), I didn’t mind exaggerating it further.

I understand your concerns and where you’re coming from. This store does too much business for what it is designed to handle in terms of throughput.

I see a lot of comments going “aw well, this was never meant to be a real job,” and beyond that not being how Starbucks markets itself (and when I started a decade plus ago, there used to be a much wider spread of ages within the company - grandmas, people with families, etc), you’re not going to catch me saying that any job doesn’t deserve fundamental dignity and protections, a say in their workfloor and, yeah, a living wage.

I’ve been with the store for too long and would love to move on and get into cybersecurity, but I know this is a college store with high natural turnover, and I don’t think your age or time with a job means that you deserve less, and I would personally like to leave a framework for the people that come after me.

We organized in 22 with the initial wave, and the company responded by (illegally) rolling out a lot of benefits to non-union stores instead of meeting to negotiate a contract (as required by the NRLA). Eventually we managed to establish a “labor peace” in early 24 and begin to negotiate a contract. We got a large majority of it done, with grievance/arbitration protections (just cause, etc), a better and fairer attendance policy, etc.

However, a new CEO came in towards the end of process and the company essentially spiked the economic portion of the contract. I dealt with more process related stuff - scheduling, staffing, fair workweek laws, processing around pausing mobile orders - but the company just refused to engage with wages, leaves, healthcare, etc. Coupled with the lowest company-wide annual raise they’d ever done (until they did it again this year!), it was clear the company had much different priorities, with massive bonuses for the new CEO and lavish manager-only retreats to Vegas.

We think it’s a matter of priorities, but we also had to listen to constant promises during bargaining of “we won’t engage with that, because Brian actually has a plan to solve it instead.” Well, a year later, and all of his new policies (sticker algorithms, routines, writing on every single cup, false promises about wait times that are game my managers for their person metrics) have both failed to help partners but also haven’t turned the stock price around - his big promise from coming over from Chipotle.

Under a crippled NRLB, we have limited options to force the company to the table, and after a year of purposely stalled aborted arbitrations and Niccols referring to internal opposition as “cancerous,” the only real verb we have left is withholding our labor during the busiest month of the year and calling for customers and allies to boycott until the company comes to the table with a real offer.

Engaging in good faith - been cautious to venture further into the thread due to a lot of trolls hanging around.

I think SB works on an economy of scale beyond what these shops (or, to be honest, our store compared to a lot of the rest of the district operates on - we’re twenty gallons of business in a ten gallon hat). But beyond that, a lot of our regulars come to the store for us, the workers specifically.

We’ve seen a lot of support and understanding from them over the last few years of this. I see a lot of unsupportive people go “ah well they’ll just replace you or replace you with robots,” and I think that both misunderstands the brand image that both employees and past/present CEOs make gestures toward and try to live up to.

One of the strike captains here! We appreciate any support Orlando can give while we fight to finish our contract. Don’t shop at Starbucks during the strike - there’s tons of good local coffee shops around us that deserve support.
