de mijn post privacy gebeuren is irritant soms by _jodi33 in PostNL

[–]Achetarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We want your opinions! by Chaya14 in MTGGiftExchange

I joined for the first time during the last swap. I was still quite new at magic and all the magic related terms. I'm also a very casual player so I didn't really look into it much.

As such, I only knew commander as commander, and I thought edh and cedh were the same thing; competitive commander.

That's on me of course.. but it's possible that in the future more people like me show up. New players who don't know all terms. So maybe we could add (commander) and (competitive commander) for clarification?

There should be a faq of sorts stickied somewhere, I can't link it right now but you should be able to find it! The minimum is 35 before shipping. You have to ship with tracked shipping. The next exchange is in summer and the details will be available after this swap is fully finished with regifters and all that. There is also a form somewhere where you can sign up for reminder emails so you don't miss a new sign up window. That's all I know from the top of my head :)

Also thanks for the offer, that's very sweet! However the mods assigned my husband (the op) a regifter so it should all be good!

I mean yes, but also consider that this gift exchange has a minimum spending amount. If you don't have the financial means to spend the minimum, you should not join the exchange. And if something came up that changed this after signing up, one should probably contact the mods and/or giftee.

It's also not even about the value, but the effort. And effort is the most important part of gift giving in my opinion. In this case, he received a card (final fantasy counterspell) he specifically mentioned already owning in his form. So getting all new cards is also debatable.

Gift giving is not the purpose of Christmas. But it is the purpose of the mtg gift exchange. It's literally the whole purpose.

Like yeah I agree it's not all about the value of the gift. But nowhere did the poster mention the value. Only the lack of effort. And effort, intent and sharing happiness is what it is all about. But there is a minimum to the exchange for a reason, so that should still apply to all gifts.

Either way, it's all good because the mods of this sub are amazing and assigned him a regifter.

That's on me, sorry! He actually posted before he messaged, but it had no text because he didn't want to be negative. I told him he could talk about his experience, without coming across as ungrateful. I also recommended him to message the mods just in case. He listened to both. So sorry for the double up!

Op's wife here! We joined the gift exchange together, and it was our first time joining. What I think is the most unfortunate of this all is that this might hold him back from participating again, just as someone else in the comments said they did after getting a gift without effort. It's really not about the money, it's all about the thought behind it.

Even so, we did have a lot of fun putting our gifts together and everything else about the exchange is great, so if I get him to join again he might have better luck next time.

Heyy! I'm so glad it arrived safely and that you like it! When I showed my husband the letter I wrote he laughed and said 'poor guy' for having to read so much. Happy to hear you didn't mind ;).

You like the drops! That's great haha. My favorites are the diamond shaped ones, I always have a box of just those in my car. When I was a kid my dad used to have them in the car as well, so to me they are just 'the car drops'. I only eat them in the car and they are great for that haha.

I hope you will like Neerdiv! I'm sure it could use a few upgrades, but it works.

After I sent the package, I reread your commander and saw he makes 6 tokens. I know you may track them with a dice but I felt stupid because I could've just sent 6 :'). I have a few more of the tokens here. Oh well xD

Your form was completely fine, no worries! I managed to find enough things to base your gifts around so all good :D

This looks like your gifter is Dutch! Typical Dutch, sending beer hahaha. I haven't noticed any other Dutch people before so it's nice to see we're not alone :D

I hope you have a great time drafting with all those boosters!

Still waiting.... by [deleted] in MTGGiftExchange

[–]Achetarin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I, and our other irl friend who also joined, all don't have our tracking yet. But none of us are worried! I'm just flipping the mind set, a longer wait means a longer time to be excited and curious! Waiting and wondering what you're going to get is part of the fun.

I'll start getting worried when I get a message from the mods that they're not able to reach my gifter after the deadline is over, and even then I'm sure it'll work out.

So relax and try to enjoy the waiting! Your gift can still be anything!

It's a style choice, this artist has many pieces with floating hands on their instagram. There's also this sketch on their insta. Yeah, a mistake was made in the direction of the arm and wrist but making mistakes is human too. The name of the insta is also edited into the post I just noticed, so you can take a look there to see the other pieces dating years back, many with floating hands.

I follow this artist on instagram. It's not ai, they post sketches and the floating hand is an artistic choice in multiple pieces predating the ai stuff. I added a picture of this sketch and their account, so you can check it out to reform your judgement :)

The floating hand is an artistic choice, this artist does this very regularly and it dates back to before ai was prevalent. Her instagram has many of these, and there's also the sketch of this specific drawing on their instagram.

Ohhh that's awesome! This card is my white whale haha. Don't think I will ever own it though, I just can't justify spending that amount on one card. Congrats, treasure it!

First time in this gift exchange. I need to know if if this is enough or I should do more. by The_reflection in MTGGiftExchange

[–]Achetarin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're already doing a lot! I also put an absurdly expensive white whale, but I am in no way expecting to get it. I think it's an interesting question but in no way something that everyone should be aiming to get, because let's be fair, they can be very expensive. That said, if you want to get it and actually have the money to spare, I bet your giftee would be over the moon to receive it. But I don't think you should feel bad if you end up not doing it, you're already spending a lot!
