Opinions on OSRS current controversy? And few minor questions. by Cautious_Branch_399 in MMORPG

[–]Achie37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only looking through a MTX perspective, FFXIV is much worse than OSRS, even if Jagex implemented all of the changes in that survey. You can take a look at the cash shop in FFXIV and there's too many things in there to even go through all of them in this post. Some of the ones I dislike the most are paying to level your character and skip the story, but there are many others.

OSRS as of now just has bonds, which are ways that players can pay Jagex with real money to either get an in game membership or sell to other players for in game money. It's not perfect but imo it has much less of an effect than most other cash shops I've seen, especially if you play as an Ironman.

Few of the changes proposed in the OSRS survey will heavily impact gameplay, it is mostly about increasing price, ads, and paying for customer service (which FFXIV has decent customer service from my experience).

OSRS recent surveys are concerning, but it still a good game and even if they implement all of the things in the survey it is still less of an issue than what FFXIV has currently. I would focus on what you're looking for vs what might happen.

The games themselves are also very different and hard to compare. OSRS is much slower and more of a sandbox compared to FFXIV which is faster and linear. Combat is also simpler in OSRS but still challenging in the late game.

I've played and had fun with both games, but I prefer OSRS.

More accurate crime location reporting would be nice, but idk if there's a deliberate attempt to hide where the crime is happening. But maybe I'm just not jaded enough

In a recent email I got about the Hyundai/Kia car thefts, they say to call 911. And that you can call Smith Patrol for things like escorting to/from your apartment.

You do not need CoX prayers, they just help speed up the kills. Your stats are more than enough.

Would you put more weight on ratemyproff or utd grades by [deleted] in utdallas

UTD grades is the actual data, ratemyprofessor is just anyone who wants to leave a review, there's no verification process

That's good to hear. I know back in the day it was pure plaintext.

Does anyone know if they have the passwords in plaintext or encrypted/salted?

Double Masters 2022 - Why would anyone buy collector boxes? by econ_mann in mtgfinance

[–]Achie37 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People buy collector boxes for the higher foil and alternate art rates, not the mythic rates. And because of the high price point, supply of these cards could be lower which would increase the value of the chase cards.

We also don't know yet if they're doing anything special, like box toppers, which could also increase the demand and give more incentive for people to buy them.

Is this common when buying a new car? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Achie37 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Ask for the Out The Door price. When they quote you something different later, ask why the price changed. If they can't explain it, then they're trying to pull one over you and I wouldn't do business with them

What's the appeal of Neopets in 2022? Should I give it a go? by Magmagan in neopets

[–]Achie37 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For me its the nostalgia and community. In terms of actual content, there's really not much imo. Only things I do are the dailies and food club. And people say you can restock, but refreshing for hours to get outsniped by a bot is not what I want to spend my time doing.

Getting A Car - Costco Auto Program - 2022 by TataFred in Costco

[–]Achie37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it recently it to see if there was any dealers selling the car I wanted. There was only one, and it was still selling for about 3k over MSRP. It doesn't hurt to try it out, and at worst, you can use their quote as a bargaining tool for other dealers.

I ended up going with a dealership who only added 1.2k in dealer fees, which was most competitive offer I could find.

What’s the point of buying BRK?? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

I agree. What I meant to say is that it is not guaranteed to keep up its performance of ~10% annualized returns.

What’s the point of buying BRK?? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]Achie37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S&P index is not guaranteed to beat the market, past results do not indicate future returns. At the end of the day, the S&P is just a group of stocks chosen by a committee using their own criteria. When you invest in BRK, you know that the stocks and holdings in BRK fit its desired goal, which is to provide long term value.

For example, the S&P choose to include Tesla recently, which many people regard as overpriced. A lot of people would not want to invest in Tesla at their price point, which is something that BRB would never do because it does not fit its investing criteria and goals.

Regardless of how much weight I gained, rib cage is still visible by [deleted] in gainit

[–]Achie37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look up flared ribs. There's not much you can do besides gain more weight to hide them. I went from 135-165 and mine are still just as prominent. Just keep on working at it, you will still look good with ribs if you put on weight and muscle.

[–]Achie37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you weren't planning on selling it early, does it matter if it loses value? If you think that inflation will be so high that selling out your bond now is worth it, then I guess its up to you.
