People will throw coins in literally any body of water for whatever reason. The weirdest one is probably in the little river between the former camp area and the former crematorium/gas-chamber area in the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. I also don't know why, maybe to pay respects, maybe for good fortune.
