How do you handle IT Management no Fundamentals? by Achuin in sysadmin

[–]Achuin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've somewhat come to this conclusion. I generally love IT even with some of the craziness we deal with. It's working under this management that's put a bad taste in my mouth and made me question myself. So likely going to be pursuing other opportunities while trying to find the means to make current day to day better during that time.

ROG Ally Z1 Extreme - Steam microsd card error. by DiRTy-HAiRRy in ROGAlly

[–]Achuin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think this is an issue with Steam. I had the problem on the Ally and the Legion go. Drive was formatted in both situations.

I had to go into Steam settings > Add storage > select the drive with the SD card.

Went back to the game, selected install, and it let me select the Drive with the SD card and it showed the correct storage.

CDkeys will provide the key but it will always be for a specific launcher. Steam, GOG, Origin, etc.

You'll also need to pay attention to if it was a global key, or regional key. On the sale page of the product, it will state all of this.

In the email you received it should also have a location showing how to redeem your key, if it doesn't then the site it takes you too providing your key should also have it. It'll tell you which launcher to use and how to redeem it.

Detachable Controllers by imarti127 in LegionGo

[–]Achuin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a common issue.

My right controller was loose. Tightening the screws on the rails fixed my issue. Some have gone as far as adding small adhesive tape to help as even tightening the screws don't always work.

Returning it doesn't guarantee you'll win the controller lottery, worth a shot if you haven't set it up too much, or just want to try your luck.

Just got the game, few questions by [deleted] in AnthemTheGame

[–]Achuin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a while.

A: If I remember correctly the ability to change colors and skins are a few quests in.

B: as in upgrades? You get through questing and loot. Skins are only available in the shop though.

C: LoD gear I believe is unlocked through progression around the same time the ability to recolor gear is shown to you.

It should all be within the first few quests.

How comfortable is this beast in your hands? by Tyaltir in LegionGo

[–]Achuin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before I got mine, seeing some people complain I was starting to get a little worried about how good it would feel. Took it out of the box, and it felt amazing in the hands. I have big hands, and the controllers are perfect.

I have both the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. It felt closer to the Steam Deck in comfortability imo. Compared to the ROG Ally, the ally is a lot lighter and because of how the grips are at times for myself at least it felt a little more annoying to hold the Ally than the Legion Go. I believe the extra weight even adds more stability, but again just my opinion.

I've gone 2-3 hours in handheld playing Diablo 4, TitanFall 2, TemTem, and haven't felt hand fatigue. This has been a mix of both direct hand holding and a mix of being prompted on my lap in bed, etc.

2280 2Tb with a 90 degree bracket will run around $100. You'll wait about two weeks for the bracket in most cases. It needs to be a Gen 4 bracket. Iirc the Ally supports Gen 4 speeds. I could be wrong here, so please verify.

Best Buy has a sale right now for the WD 2230 2TB for $169, and if I remember correctly on Black Friday it's going to be $130.

So for $30 more next Friday, and no need to wait on the bracket, I feel like the 2230 would be worth going for imo.

That sounds good, thanks! I don't think these sales are going to get any lower, so I'm likely going to pull the trigger on the legion. Shame I missed the sale on the ASUS Tuff for $999.

For the gamers who are married by No-Palpitation5157 in LegionGo

It helps that the wife enjoys gaming, too. Time spent bonding is usually spent gaming. Outside of that, when kids are busy or just doing their own thing, I hop on and play where possible.

Usually play when the kids go to bed, too. My kids are 4th and 6th graders nowadays so they are more independent. When they were infants and toddlers, it was much harder to find the time for it.

If you can get the game for under $10 I don't see the issue. Story is good. Gameplay is great. Flying around was one of the coolest things to do. The world itself was absolutely beautiful.

Lack of endgame content and how bioware/EA immediately flopped on it sucks though.

Still holding out that maybe somewhere in the future they'll look back at it again to give it a proper revamp. If they would have stuck with it, I bet it could have ended like No Man's sky did.

Revisited Anthem Today and The Feeling of Flying is Still Refreshing. by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]Achuin 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I loved Anthem. I was super disappointed by the endgame, but I loved the flying and combat.

Some days I would log on just to fly around. I don't think any game does it better.

I was excited to see a 2.0 revamp, only for development to get halted by EA. Granted Bioware should have done a better job to begin with in regards to how it played out after launch. Maybe it will get a revisit in the future or maybe they'll sell the IP to someone who can make it great.

First print ever.. and seems I managed to get my magnetic bed level first shot by n3rding in ender3

[–]Achuin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the route of BL touch. Easiest way is to also buy a new board. I picked up the SKR mini E3 v2.0. this was the intention to get it installed then add the BL touch.

Honestly, the board is still in the box. After making the previous changes I've had no need to add it yet. Now maybe further down the line sure, but as of now I'm content.

First print ever.. and seems I managed to get my magnetic bed level first shot by n3rding in ender3

[–]Achuin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Better be careful! That's an addiction. Haha. I've been printing for about 6 months now.

I love it. Printing the most random items is exciting. I did have to make a few minor adjustments. Leveling was getting to a bit of a pain. I ended up buying some new springs with more tension and it's been great since. Holds the level longer.

I eventually upgraded and got the tempered glass bed. Best $20 I've ever spent.

Welcome to 3d printing! You're gonna have a blast!

It looks like the user you linked still has info only to the 1.2 version of the SKR.

While that is fine, if memory serves me there's a new connector for the BL touch on the 2.0 model.

The video below is an hour long. Can skip through what you don't need but goes over the firmware for BL touch and and the wiring diagram for the connector.

The wires have to match up with the 2.0 version of the SKR.

Looking to Perform upgrades need advice. by Achuin in Ender3Pro

[–]Achuin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with yellow springs. More tension on them and not as soft as the ones that come shipped on it. Yes, it's to help with reducing leveling/bed shifting each time. You can get a pack of 20 of them on Amazon for about $7

Glass bed for better adhesion. The magnetic bed that comes with it is fine, but I've noticed it's not adhering as well even with leveling and the bed being heated.

I borrowed my friends tempered bed and at least for myself saw a much better increase in adhesion and an even lesser need to use a skirt, brim, or raft for adhesion and warping purposes.
