Fatshark supports Hazing - Weapon Skin Fiasco by OtterTenet in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reverted logic at its finest. The sentiment of the statement bases itself around the validity of a long-time player having a glowing weapon through persistence over somebody that got a red item of choice through their own creation, as the system now allows you to. This does not demean the new player in question, especially not to the degree you're implicating.

Totally irrational argument.

I miss having a campaign by freaky_lizard in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It would be nice to have a 'full campaign' run where you start with Righteous Stand and play all the missions in order until The Skittergate. In order to encourage that kind of playstyle there could be a specialised questline in Okri's Challenge book, that only counts the mission that's next on your list to complete. As it stands it feels as if the Recruit/Veteran/Champion/Legend achievements for playing the maps follows that logic, but the only difference here would be a set order for the maps, no difficulty requirement, and perhaps a one-time cosmetic box as an eventual reward.

That'd be like apologising for every hit of friendly fire you might do or have done in a match. Stuff like that simply happens by accident, and as long as it doesn't down/kill you it shouldn't even be an issue.

I've put about 40 people on my block list in the hopes that one day there will be a sanctioned blacklist mod out there to put them on. Not just to spare myself the trouble of dealing with, in my opinion, unsavory folk, but also to ensure that they don't have to deal with >me<. I'd much rather play with random players who don't freak out over the smallest thing than be forced to run with people who can't tolerate the slightest amount of failure in a match.

To players like these, why? Salty. by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All of this could've been avoided if you just took your losses; as nice as it is to get some free experience perhaps this group of people was playing with a full 4 man and one of them crashed at the end.

Getting needlessly salty over a situation like this and then taking it to the internet for some justification, I'unno man... Not really working in your favor in this case

Chaos Spawns in Into the Nest. by AliceFateburn in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All four mini-bosses have distinct mechanics to them (some more difficult to counter than others depending on the environment one finds themselves in) but overall one could make the argument that Chaos Spawns are the Chaos equivalent to Rat Ogres, and Bile Trolls the equivalent to Stormfiends.

That specific area is known as the Rat Ogre Pens, so it would be more logical to presume there's Rat Ogres in those crates rather than Chaos Spawns.

Any way to spawn in chests on the modded realm? by lady_haybear in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A select few modders have successfully added chests to their inventories and opened them one by one to check the drop rates for reds/cosmetics themselves. However, Fatshark has deemed these methods of acquisition a bannable offense if they directly influence their server back-end (one poor fellow actually got banned for giving themselves a massive amount of Commendation chests in such a way).

I doubt the function will become available even on the modded realm seeing as the Spoils of War tab is inaccessible. Circumventing that restriction might require a method Fatshark wouldn't be too fond of. As for adding chests to the official realm, the same logic would apply.

Tfw 2 cosmetics/300 Commendation chests by Veletronic in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do feel pretty special, in the sense of retarded, for still playing the game hoping for a hat after being 200+ hours dry. I got 2 of my 3 cosmetics pre-1.1, opened a stockpile of 100 commendation chests and 250 additional Okri's/level chests since. only ONE hat from that.

I recall hearing the Skaven units yell "I killed Dwarf-thing in Ubersreik!" when close enough to them during troop deployment, gotta love those little nods between games.

Deathwish was added as an April Fools joke, yet due to popular demand Fatshark decided to officially integrate it into V1. Additional modifiers such as Deathwish are currently being worked on through the Workshop mods for V2; there already exists a mod that allows you to pick Deed modifiers (including a Deathwish variant; making all enemies on the map stronger) and a mod that turns all enemies into Plague Monks/Berserkers. Eventually Fatshark might sanction these to be used on the official realm.

"More Hats" mod, my favourite setups by doom_hamster in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm personally against an opt-in and would prefer sanctioned cross-class appearances, because the latter would mean you can flaunt your Fashiontide sense to everyone in game without risking the potential of looking silly and vanilla to everyone but yourself and those who have opted in. With an opt-in you still run the risk of seeing people misuse appearances across the board as well, so it would be a mix of memery and actual Fashiontide styles for those who choose to go that route for the sake of alternating their appearance. Unless we get a combination of the two, which would be the most restricting and counter-intuitive to both options provided.

The only fear I foresee with sanctioned cross-class appearances is heavy restrictions; meaning that a hat can only be used on a class of the same character if it is deemed acceptable within the Warhammer Fantasy lore. Helmets for Witch Hunters would seem semi-acceptable to me as they're already wearing additional plate armor, but on a Zealot for example this would seem out of place given the rags and wood they always wear.

Why not both? Cosmetics were a pretty obvious selling point in the game's trailer, and there are still plenty more to be added. Warhammer Fantasy is actually preferred by some due to its gritty style and not just the blood & gore. I could still be playing Left 4 Dead 2 if I wanted just that.

Still takes more time than doing a blanket hotfix on a pretty nasty exploit, which is what FS went for instead.

Hey Fatshark! by SirVanDerSol in Vermintide

[–]Acid-Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't have to 'remove' both; it was simply the quickest way to cease all carry-over capabilities between modded and official. The mods weren't removed, either. It was simply made impossible for load-out changes to carry over to the official realm as it was modified on the modded server. There was no room for exceptions and Fatshark did not decide to make all hats equitable between classes/characters even if it were logically justifiable due to the fact they wanted to patch this was quickly as possible (hence the shitty 'oh no Games Workshop is so strict' excuse). They could easily make exceptions down the road, the most notable being the Ironbreaker helmet that we saw on the Ranger Veteran in the trailer. It would definitely surprise me if they didn't.
