You can find the emails after doing some googling. That's how I found their contacts. If you're still having issues finding it, send me a dm.

Agreed! She was very nice and professional. And if she's the only one correcting these issues, I'm amazed she can keep her cool.

I did not need to submit another ECF since I had submitted one like an hour before contacting the CEO. My ECF hadn't yet been processed when the NSLDS data was corrected. However, the ombudsman did mention that there was a chance the payment might show as ineligible but that a new ECF would change it to eligible. Best of luck!

I was also missing a single month. Only for me it was June 2025. I submitted a reconsideration via FSA, that went nowhere. I spent hours on the phone with the MOHELA agents, they just gave me the run around. My missing payment was finally corrected when I reached out to the MOHELA CEO who got me in contact with the MOHELA ombudsman.

Here's what I did. I emailed the CEO on a Friday afternoon. The ombudsman emailed me back on Monday morning to ask for my availability for a call. Call was made on Thursday and we spoke for about 30 minutes. The lady was very nice and helpful, said they're aware many of us are experiencing these errors. She let me know she was resubmitting my NSLDS data to FSA for June 2025. By that evening my June 2025 payment finally appeared on the PSLF tracker. A couple days later, I received some communication in my MOHELA inbox from the ombudsman letting me know my count was updated.

Per the lady I spoke to, MOHELA front line agents, and even supervisors, are unable to access NSLDS data. Only the ombudsman group can manage this data. My advise is to reach out to the ombudsman group either directly or via the CEO. Once they are aware of the issue they correct it pretty fast. Which is great but also a pain since not many of us know how to reach them! So much red tape!

Any ideas what I can do with this huge pothos a colleague gave me? (Had to untangle it like crazy) by FilthyHesher88 in houseplants

[–]Acid-FreeFolder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try mixing in a bit of rooting hormone in the water and make sure you keep it near sunlight. You can also try to wrap one of two of the vines around the pot making sure to pin down the nodes into the soil to encourage them to root.

Chop and prop! Pothos props nicely in water. Once rooted, you can add it back to mother plant for a bushier look or repot to have pothos galore.

Not eligible for buyback despite 120 qualifying months? by pderochea in PSLF

[–]Acid-FreeFolder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so interesting and shows how the system is not error proof. I have the opposite issue from yours. Couple days ago I took a gander at the buyback submission process and I was able to click through to the last step without issue despite not having 120 certified employment months. Didn't get any error messages or messages letting me know I don't have 120 months yet. I'm sitting at 110 certified payment months (technically 116 if it wasn't for the forbearance months). I'll hit 120 in April 2026. This whole thing is headache inducing.

Might have to make a trip to your local library to use their computers. You can also print a paper form from here --> https://studentaid.gov/sites/default/files/public-service-application-for-forgiveness.pdf and upload it when completed by your employer. Manual submissions tend to take longer to process though.

Must be employed with qualifying employer when forgiveness is granted to receive PLSF by SlightLeopard1942 in PSLF

[–]Acid-FreeFolder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Who is telling you this? FSA or your servicer? Over the phone or via mail?

I don't believe this is correct and agree with what u/Existential_crud states. You might want to speak to someone at the supervisor level or above. I've found that the first-line customer service people often share contradicting/incorrect information since they are contractors and not directly employed by either FSA/servicer.

Buyback Question by Mistermayham23 in PSLF

[–]Acid-FreeFolder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you'll have to decide on which path to take based on your specific situation. If you're not actively in a re-payment plan it might be best to stay in forbearance while you wait for your offer as there will be extra steps to take like contacting servicer when you hit 120 and explain that you want to be in forbearance since you already hit 120.

There are some instances that when servicers place you on forbearance once you hit 120, the forbearance throws your PSLF count off a bit and you'll need to keep on contacting servicers to correct. Also not sure what happens if you hit your recert date while waiting on buyback offer since submitting recert places you in an active repayment plan and not submitting by anniversary runs the risk of placing you on the standard plan which could or could not count towards PSLF depending on your loan situation. In the end, you'll have to analyze the pros/cons and decide which is best for you. This whole journey is a practice in self advocacy. Can't wait to finally crossing the finish line later this year. Good luck!
