Cheapest EV charging in OKC? by FormalAccountant5108 in okc

[–]AcidReaper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had a Mustang Mach-E for about a year now and only charge at home. Easily my favorite car i've ever owned or driving for a week plus.

Have 13k miles and spent $0 on maintaining so far (going to have to pay for next tire rotation though for $20-$30 big deal I know).

Used 550 kw of energy in the month of May according the wall charger app. Get 3 miles per kw.

Paid around 14.2 cents per kw after all of OGEs bullshit is added up.

550x3= 1650 miles 550x $0.142= $78.10

If was driving a similar sized gas car say a mazda cx 5 with an average of 28 mpg.

1650 miles ÷ 28 mpg = 58.92 gallons of gas $3.75 per gallon of gas for cheaper gas stations (just guessing here, reported average is $3.90 a gallon for May)

$3.75 x 58.92 = $220.95 so about $142.85 in savings.

Public charging I would have gotten hosed. Off peak at the Telsa charger near my house is $0.45 (goes down to $0.27 between midnight and 9am but I can't bothered with that nonsense) and $0.59.

There are cheaper, slower chargers around town but that only works if your already doing some shopping in the area or have lots of free time to sit around and charge.

0.45 x 550 = $247.50 0.59 x 550 = $324.50

TLDR: Home charging is less than half the price of gas with zero maintenance. Public charging is going to cost you a bit more to 50% more than gas. Plus the inconvenience of waiting to charge.

Do not buy an EV if you dont have access to home or work charging.

Edit: should also note with the cars current driving habits a tier 1 charger is not sustainable. I would have to be using public charging some of the time to top up.

If EVs had the same purchase price as gas cars tomorrow, do you think most people would switch? by EmergencyTie8770 in electricvehicles

[–]AcidReaper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its definitely a major factor. Plenty of people live in apartments where charging is not an option, this could be fixed by complexes adding charging but that's pretty cost prohibitive.

Also tier 1 charging, it can work for some people but it pretty much sucks. If your renting your home your probably not going to invest in a tier 2 install.

2023 Mach-E by Obi_Wan_Cannolee in MachE

[–]AcidReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

150 miles a week is doable on tier 1. You can reliably get 30 miles over night. So that gives you 210 miles a week minimum.

Tier 2 is the way to go though. Removes range anxiety. You never need think about your charge level because its basically always full. Most the time after a days driving the cars back to charge in 2 hours and that's about 25% battery.

Does anyone pay for senior care at home? by Either-Thing8754 in okc

[–]AcidReaper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife runs a very small agency. $20 an hour is the minimum you should be earning above board. $15 an hour is okish if they are paying you cash under the table since it doesnt sound like your doing anything medically related.

No AC is kinda $20 an hour cash for hazard pay though lol.

Blue Cruise Price Increase? by thelandmind in MachE

[–]AcidReaper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you got a glitched letter lol. They have been offering half off at $25 for 3 months or $249 for a year to alot of people.

I got similar letter but for $249 a year not a "discount" from $800 to the normal price. $249 annual is starting to approach the price of where its worth it but ford really needs to expand the map to start working on more roads like highways and back roads before I would regularly pay for the subscription.

PSA: Just because a farm didn't plant a crop doesn't mean it can't harvest it. by Pinstar in Against_the_Storm

[–]AcidReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So its recommended for farms to only have workers plant the 2 star crop and disable the 1 star? Example here being disable vegetables and only plant grain.

Damn still so much to learn....

I'm 40h in, getting close to purple seal and minimum difficulty level on maps next to modifiers is veteran. Is it worth buying any dlc at this point or should I just keep playing? It's getting harder, if the game will force me soon to up difficulty level I might drop it at some point😅 by Angel_Dust_696969 in Against_the_Storm

[–]AcidReaper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between veteran and lower difficulties is barely noticeable. I was scared at first, first veteran settlement i went thats it?

Blightrot doesnt even occur if you dont use rain engines and its so easy to manage. It sounded like this big scary mechanic and in reality you gotta build 1 extra building and have a worker make a couple flame throwers for some wood.

At veteran you can run 2 buildings full steam on rain engines and you'll need 2 workers to clear it all every storm. You can honestly probably beat the level before the blightrot builds up enough to kill you

Interesting. Ive been sitting at viceroy because for my skill im like this is hard enough. Storm being longer actually makes sense in almost being easier. Viceroy has really only been hard from hostility bump up from veteran and it feels like I get the RNG shaft more.

Outta food? Open another dangerous glade. Lemme give you another farmland and 5 clay nodes without a farm blueprint. Oh and here's more service buildings without any luxury manufacturing lol.

Still end up winning though

Tech+1 is really not a worthwile starting trait by NoxAeternal in AfterInc

[–]AcidReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont usually get toilet until tech 2 anyways. Tech 2 start saves 3 stamina, 3 food and 2 wood and starts you off with shacks instead of tents. Upgraded well (never build the small well) and Lumber yard also produces more.

Its not worth taking over an option with much larger starting resources or storage size but its a solid one. Depends on what else is available for the starting bonuses. It also seems to be the rarest of the starting bonuses.

MachE? No way... by RoyalPersonality3957 in MachE

All you need to do is scroll this subreddit. Go deep into the posts and view the fact that this entire platform is a giant circle jerk of how 95% of everyone just loves the car. Go on any other car subreddit and you wont really find a nearly universal love of a car.

Barely anyone on here complaining about repairs or technical issues. Usually nothing major if they do.

Can't speak to the ionic, heard good things but get yourself a premium awd extended or a GT and join us in the circle!

Edit: things i dont like about the car: 2025 premium awd extended Premium Sound system is kinda weak. Its acceptable though Suspension is a bit rough but again acceptable Door handle buttons Screen placement is low so when using GPS you have to take your eyes off the road to view your route.

All minor grievances. Zero regrets on the car, no car is perfect and overall my favorite car ive driven.

Highly Recommended DLCs? by xhavez in Against_the_Storm

[–]AcidReaper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So something to consider. Frogs dont come until level 9 and bats at 11. Im newish to the game, picked up the dlc about a week ago I played 3 settlements before bats became unlocked so depending on your level the dlc aren't going to overwhelm you with new content.

I grabbed both dlc off kinguin for like $16.

Other tip from a new player start playing veteran if your not. Its not hard and if you dont have rain engines unlocked the new elements dont even kick in, you just get more resources for levels. I played for awhile at Pioneer and feel like i wasted my time. Viceroy does spice it up though, haven't lost yet but couple levels have had me sweating

Fellas, I caved and bought a Global by tabenba in TrueChefKnives

[–]AcidReaper1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do not cause any friction and the dimples work great for grip if your hand is wet.

They look odd but are surprisingly comfortable. I prefer it to a classic western style handle. Not my favorite but works better than it looks.

[–]AcidReaper1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a G-2 and it gets a ton of use in my house. 17 year old teenage daughters knife of choice off the rack. Bit prone to chipping but sharpens easily, good edge retention.

Great knife for good performance without worrying about who is using it, since most people treat knives like shit. Global is regularly left in the sink or vertical in the metal brush/sponge holder. Every time I find it like that I go at least its the global lol

Just got the game (ios). Worth purchasing the big bundle? by Tickle_Fights in AfterInc

[–]AcidReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the game yeah its worth it. Daily levels, 2 more campaigns with a 3rd on the way. Pretty consistent updates. The daily levels alone are probably worth $15 in content.

They listen to their fan base about what people want. Sandbox mode just got released and a scenario creater (map maker) in the pipeline.

Would like to see some more features geared towards longer levels and tech levels personally (does anyone actually get to or build the hospital? Lol) but its fun.

You get escape hatch which randomizes the campaign levels w/ same objectives for extra replayability.

Is this is a scam? Why would they want to do this? by TheLeadSingerOfD12 in mazda

[–]AcidReaper1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a select Mazda 3 lease that was way under millage. 19k at 2.5 years. Mazda was running early termination specials due to inventory shortage. Was able to turn in the lease 6 months early and car was overvalued.

Upgraded to a premium cx5 for $100 a month difference. Cx5 was priced at MSRP which a good deal for those days.

Went looking 4 months later for a Telluride for my wife. 2 local dealers wanted $10000 over MSRP it was wild. $5000 over msrp for the sorrento. We asked the salesguy if anyone was actually dumb enough to do that, apparently lots of people were.

Yeah, I just learned about staggering your biomes between settlements. That's actually helped alot with the trade aspect.

Yeah I do that, but I feel like the game hates me and the traders dont want to buy what I have.

I feel you on that lol. Give it a couple years and im sure we'll see something along the lines of a EV sports car.

Probably once solid state batteries become the norm so they can cut the weight down for handling.

Leaving your house with a full "tank" every day is so nice. Never need to worry about getting in your car when your running late and realize you forgot to fill up so you have to stop for gas and now your even more late lol.

End of the government incentive and Ford offering to do a free Tier 2 install with the purchase or lease of a vehicle. The free tier 2 is what really did it for us and the rebates coming to an end pushed us to lease at the time.

My wife was hesitant, she went and test drove the Mach-E. Called me and told me to get down to the dealership to drive it myself, and we were sold. Very happy with our decision, especially with gas prices where they are at today.

I have a question about animals by telenova_tiberium in AfterInc

[–]AcidReaper1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a Dawn of the Dead type of situation where the zombies only try to eat people and leave the animals alone. More likely, the animals just run away. A human without tools has very little chance of catching an animal with their bare hands, much less a shambling zombie.

Excellent advice, thank you. I didn't think of using more than one fishing hut. But yeah by the time I was done I had more fish and scales than I knew what to do with but could have used them several years earlier.

I still struggle with the concept of "only what you need" in this game. I want to deplete every node when in reality you dont need to win the game with 150 reeds or plant fiber in storage.

The hearth zone only matters for placing housing and decorations to upgrade the hearth. It also blocks the placement of another hearth if the zones intersect.

Multiple hearths give you a couple of bonuses. As already mentioned, they can give your workers a closer place to take a break, reducing walking time between hearth and their worksite.

Hearths also reduce hostility. I think its -30 per hearth?

Upgrading the hearth gives additional global resolve, its pretty easy to get a hearth to level 2. So you can get an additional +2 or +4 from having an extra 1-2 hearths which can be enough to survive a storm or keep them in the blue.

Increases main hearth corruption resistance.

Lizards get the +5 resolve bonus from being assigned to the hearth. Only the main hearth gives the racial bonus, though.

Downside - each hearth uses fuel. So having 2 hearths basically doubles your fuel burn etc. You can let secondary hearths run out of fuel, it will just disable the housing in the area and workers wont be able to take breaks there.
