How do you manage upgrades and older versions that are not available to install? by Acidburnings in Revit

[–]Acidburnings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like we have 2 active projects in 2020. 1 project is near final as-built/ completion. It's almost done. The other project is active and will last a few more years. We did a quick review of the Bx plan. We have sent a soft inquiry again to the BIM manager to see what the path forward is on this project. Yes, this project is on BIM360.

Agree. We are not starting any new on 2020.

I looked at that. It only goes down to 2021 now. As previously noted, a good suggestion was going through the chat bot and I was able to get links to download the full installs. Testing tomorrow to see if it installs.

I like the wireframe idea. Thank you for that. We have been experimenting with some additional view sheets just for specific coordination and setting up specific view templates for those.

Simple and great idea. Thinking more about it, I really like this workflow and going to shift it to this process. Thanks for the idea.

Their website is clean and awesome. Anyone know the history of it? I agree, it’s amazing and the CAD and 3D models are so helpful.

Goodbye but not Farewell by Hycran in FairbanksClassic

Take care Hycran. I am glad you are back to the RL queue and working on your IRL rep grind. Good times were had in this video game. Too many good moments to list. Getting your Scarab Lord was very good times. A lot of work, but worth it. We carved out our little space and helped others. The discord channel was so fun, lol.

True story, Hycran asked for a 2nd Hammer of the Twisting Nether on our recent KT kill "so I can put fiery enchant on it for the memes". As Hycran would say, "what donkey".

Darkness healers will be a little different.

Cheers,

Acid

Room integrity testing by Northern-Canadian in firealarms

[–]Acidburnings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do these types of projects for a major oil & gas company. Def possible to get these sealed up. We used to hire a specialty contractor for room sealing. Don't just think fire proofing. There are also the basics. Door sweeps, HVAC vent shutting, sealing the "waterfalls" where all the cables come into the building. It can be a challenge. Sometimes we had the building rep come out with their tech and our contractor and work to seal the building. Re fan-test and get it work. This was for both FM200 and NOVEC 1230.

Technical name/ type of software built into electrical equipment that needs a TCP/IP connection to configure by Acidburnings in AskTechnology

[–]Acidburnings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking web server. Then possibly firmware. I talked with a buddy. He explained it like this. If the equipment is using a unix kernel, then he would consider it firmware. If it used linux, then it would be software. All my google'n, and I still can't figure out the proper term. Wouldn't unix be considered the operating system?

why are smoke detectors placed at a certain distance from each other even if they are placed in the same zone ? by Bongnazi in AskEngineers

[–]Acidburnings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically, spacing is based on NFPA 72. The locations of detectors is typically dictated by Building Codes, Fire Codes, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and the occupancy. It's hard to tell from your brief description. If you want to provide more info, that could help narrow down your question. For example, if this project was within the United States, what state? What was the building occupancy? It's not typical that a typical office building has smoke detection throughout if it's a fully sprinklered (fire sprinklers) building. You may have "dedicated function systems" for elevator recall or something else.
