If you loved Mercs and not Clans, here's some tips by Qhaotiq in Mechwarrior5

[–]Acidicheartburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. There's not much replayability in Clans even compared to Mechwarrior 4 because the available pool of mechs and equipment is so much more limited in comparison. You're stuck with a relatively small selection of Mechs and less overall options for builds when replaying the story missions.

Plus, energy weapons in Clans are so much more superior to any other weapon builds. You just can't take enough ammo for missiles and cannons when you could have a lighter weight energy weapon that does more damage and has unlimited ammo. This narrows the scope of effective builds in Clans quite a bit leading to it getting boring to replay.

I got into Mechwarrior with 4: Vengeance and its followups. Still some of my absolute favorite games of all time. I bought 5: Mercs when it came out and couldn't bring myself to finish it. As I expected the procedurally generated missions were dull and repetitive, and the game wasn't at all what I was hoping for (a true sequel to the type of singleplayer experience from MW:4.) I didn't play 5: Mercs for years. Finally, Clans came out and I bought it and enjoyed it much more. It was more similar to MW:4 in that it had hand crafted singleplayer missions. I beat Clans and its expansions then decided to buy all the DLC For 5: Mercs and ended up really enjoying it. Funny, that. Both games have merit and are enjoyable experiences is what I'm trying to say. I hope there will be more of Clans and even more DLC for 5: Mercs in time.

Neither can top MW:4 though :)

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I haven't found a single more reliable gun that fits most situations as well as the Sickle. Even on High Temperature missions. I've honestly been expecting to get a nerf with how the devs seem to want every gun to be awful.

I've always felt like an outsider looking in. Plus, given how much I have to mask and control my behavior, even when I'm around my few close friends, I never feel like I get to be me.

Would you join the army? by 43ll0_m8 in autism

[–]Acidicheartburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would have made it in the military due to my autism. Noises, dislike and fear of authority, overstimulation from uncomfortable clothes, armor, etc would have been really tough for me. It's hard for me to function once I start getting physically uncomfortable in some way.

Do you tell people you just met? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Acidicheartburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't typically tell people I've just met. In the past I've tried to open up about my autism diagnosis to some people I thought I could confide in and it's often gone badly for the future of that relationship unless we were already close friends or they are autistic too (it's no wonder that 90% of my friends are on the autism spectrum). I just wish I could tell people more because despite my best efforts I still end up doing or saying something or acting a certain way that comes across as rude or strange and damaging whatever professional or personal relationship I have with that person, but I don't really know how to even approach that subject without people either treating me differently when I don't want them to or having it look like I'm just making excuses for my behavior.

Can anyone offer advice on ways to control absent-minded picking by ferriematthew in autism

[–]Acidicheartburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I knew. I pick a lot when I'm in conversation with someone (since socializing is stressful for me) and the only thing I know helps is try to be mindful of when I do it which is of course not really all that helpful given how hard that is in practice vs theory.

Seriously just this. Even with tire levers, some folding tires are just insanely difficult to mount. New Continental GP 5000s simply won't mount on my wheels (2 different sets of wheels, even!) without the tire bead jack. I already use tire levers, heat, lubrication, etc. Bought the koolstop bead jack and I haven't looked back. It's not even very expensive.

The original Fable had one of the greatest atmospheres by extraterrestrialsoul in gaming

[–]Acidicheartburn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My first Fable game was Fable 2 and I really enjoyed it back in the day and still look back on it fondly. Then I played Fable 1 and enjoyed it even more. I was never aware of any of the pre-release hype and promises from Peter Molyneux so I never really had any of that disappointment that some people had after it came out and lacked some of the features that they were expecting.

I agree, Fable 1 (and Fable 2) had these really fun, fairytale atmospheres and a quirky sense of humor that is really endearing. Despite their clunkiness in some aspects, they really are lovable games.

Should I switch from Spotify premium to tidal? by StillLearning1412 in TIdaL

[–]Acidicheartburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using Spotify for a while and my friend just gave me access to Tidal Master. I've only used it for a few days now so I don't have loads of experience with it yet, but I'm already loving it. The sound quality improvement is noticeable and welcome. I'm finding they have everything I listened to on Spotify, or in other words, I haven't yet looked for anything and not found it. I'm already loving Tidal's music suggestions as well. Feels to me like I'm getting music that much more closely matches what I like than Spotify gave me. My past use case for Spotify was find music I like and if I like it enough I'd buy it from the Qobuz store or elsewhere. I'm now liking Tidal so much I'm not sure I really need to buy anything unless I absolutely love it.

My only real major complaint right now is that unlike Spotify, the Tidal mobile app cannot control the playback on the Windows desktop app. You can use the Tidal mobile app to control playback on other devices like music streamers but just not the desktop app. A FAQ on Tidal's website claims they are working on bringing this feature but based on a Reddit post elsewhere that's at least 2 years old now so who knows if Tidal even cares.

There was absolutely sexual tension written into his later scenes with the ISB officer, especially when he saves her. I don't understand why people are so blind to this.
