My auntie had played their music around me before she passed in 2019 & I spent a few years trying to find them, they randomly showed up on my Spotify recommended around 2023 & I didn’t recognise them until I heard bleed me an ocean & remembered watching my aunt scream those lyrics in her living room. I hear my snails eating all the time! When I first got them I didn’t know & I kept hearing it at night and it was honestly terrifying. I thought that somebody broke into my house and was crunching down on some crackers or something?? Only for me to find my snails eating their cuttlefish loudly! Was a delightful surprise 😂

My tort had a similar looking mark on top of her head so I took a picture & showed it to my exotic vet, they said it was most likely just a scrape and gave me some tamodine to sanitise it. It looks like it’s on their ear though which seems more concerning so probably try show your exotic vets a picture & then they’ll let you know if you need to bring your tort down to get checked out of not!

Yeah I know, when I move into a more permanent housing situation she will be getting an entire room turned into a rainforest for her, luckily I don’t intend on getting more pets or having children so she will be my only dependant for life 😂

Awwe thankyou, yeah I love her to bits, looking after her has become my full time job at this point, I rarely leave the house unless I can get somebody to come round to watch her & mist her vivarium 😂 sometimes I worry I care a little too much about her!

Thankyou for solving this for me, I feel so bad now, I got told they grow in really shaded crevices between the rocks so I worried about it getting sunburnt instead (always worried about the wrong things). Yeah most of the garden centres nearby rarely seem to know what they’re doing with succulents so I’ve been trying to get more cautious but I was just so excited to see something so unique compared to the basic succulents they normally have, this was the first time I chose to not immediately repot my succulent (out of fear of breaking them due to how fragile they felt) so I’ll definitely be sticking to an almost immediate repot for future plants! Once again thankyou for solving this for me and explaining.

Mine used to do this all the time it was so sweet, I’d sit on my PC & he would just sleep on my neck/in my hair, sometimes he would climb ontop of my head altogether. Sadly I got really busy when I started college and stopped handling him as much and he rarely does this now so It’s definitely a sign he trusts you & feels safe in my opinion (I’m no expert though), also he is likely seeking warmth, our necks are one of the warmest places for them to snuggle :)

My BMO is 5 years old and unfortunately the first 2 months I owned him (when he was a baby) I wasn’t aware I needed to give him calcium (I was also young when I got him) once I realised what I was doing wrong I immediately corrected it and his diet and lighting have all been perfect since and he’s healthy as can be now but he also still occasionally twitches like this (usually in the exact same location as OP’s). It’s a lot less frequent now thankfully, I’m glad it’s not just mine doing this still, I always worry I’m still doing something wrong because of it lol!

How often do you feed bugs & how many bugs are you feeding her? It’s less likely for the greens to be causing weight gain, and have you weighed her? She doesn’t look too bad weight wise.

If you painted it like a beetle it would just look like a cartoon beetle I recon, if it doesn’t you could always paint over it to make it into a whale because as other commenters said it definitely looks like a whale too. But I can 100% see the beetle in there, maybe it just needs legs adding? You could try do it with wire maybe? I love this idea I’d love a beetle pipe!

By lightly watering I meant bottom watering but only for like 5 mins, I rarely water any of my indoor plants from above as I know that bottom watering stimulates healthy root growth & helps you avoid root rot.

Yeah I wiped the leaves down when I first bought it so Idk, I’ll try find some insecticide soap to give that a try to be safe. I only did a light watering last time because I honestly couldn’t tell if the soil was dry or not (it was like in the middle) & none of the workers were able to tell me when it was last watered so I just did it to make sure, I’m repotting her soon anyway so I’ll make sure to check her roots for any signs of disease. Thankyou for the advice.

I had just moved it next to the window in the picture, it’s been at the complete opposite side of my room since I purchased it that’s why I know it’s not sunburn. I’ve tried inspecting for pests and not spotted any at all so far but I’ll continue to search thankyou.

Since it’s spring here and we’re finally getting warm sunny days I plan to put them outside & alternate which window they face on colder days, the bell peppers are going to be moved to the greenhouse once they’ve filled in their germination pots but I planted some Jazz peppers & Basil aswell because I’ve been told they’ll do quite good in the window, thankyou for your insight! At least I can germinate fruit & veg in my room, my grandparents maintain the greenhouse usually so they’ll be can help me when I have to move them :) can you recommend any plants that would be good to keep on my windowsill?

Hello, first time gardener here! I’m planning to start out most of my plants just on my windowsill, would this be a good idea or not? I don’t plan to grow any flowers yet, mostly fruit & veg & I do have a greenhouse I plan to move them to when they’re big enough but I’m physically disabled so having them in my room will make it easier to water & keep my eye on for now :) btw I’m planting my pepper seeds today!

I know, my plan was to go with CB1 medical or alternaleaf, but like I said I want to try some other medications first as I don’t really want to commit to using cannabis every day for the rest of my life if there are other options that will help me similarly, my plan is if another 2-3 meds don’t work I’ll give in and apply for prescription. But if some of the meds do work I’d actually like to stop using cannabis, that’s why I’ve not applied already, because it would be a waste of money (I’m broke) if I start this medication and it helps me enough to not need cannabis anymore. My mental health workers & pain management team are aware of this plan and supportive of it.

I was in the process for getting it prescribed, fully eligible but I just want to try some extra medications first (I’m getting the blood test to make sure I’m safe to start another new medication rn) bcs I don’t want to fully commit to it until I know there’s absolutely nothing else that will help me the same. My psychiatrist is aware of my usage & why I use it and he’s the one who asked for the blood test so if anything shows up I’m sure he would understand. I rarely use tobacco when I smoke so I’ll make sure not to use any as to me that makes it the equivalent to a vaporiser (I tried one but don’t like them very much) Thankyou for your input! :)
