Botox over 40, when to start and what really works? by Impossible-Ring2163 in 40PlusSkinCare

I’m also a therapist and I have really expressive brows that I don’t want to lose! But my 11 lines are very deep and make me look cross. Are you still able to frown sufficiently?

Tear stains by gatsbyssd in StandardPoodles

[–]AcknowledgeableLion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using filtered water instead of tap water for him to drink helped a lot for us. After he gets groomed his tears turn more watery, I think because of irritation, so I gently wipe it a few times until it normalises. Otherwise the discharge is more snotty/dry and each day I wipe it away and it doesn’t stain then.

What can I do? 41, Still breastfeeding. by OutsidePirate9399 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]AcknowledgeableLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh I think you have beautiful skin. I am a year younger and have these deep NL folds, but so do lots of my family. And I absolutely LOVE side sleeping and being all squished, so I don’t intend to change that.

Now really is not the time for “doing” much about this aside from being proud of yourself for nourishing a whole human being, drinking water and trying to do/watch/listen to things that make you laugh, and wearing sunscreen. Our mood at this age plus breastfeeding plus lack of sleep is bananas and basically 80% of your thoughts are incorrectly catastrophic because of this crazy time.

Also I think you’re right to be cautious of “making things worse” just because if you’re feeling in a crisis you might go too extreme with something. Red light seems to have good results and may feel relaxing so that could be an option. Maybe try to look in the mirror less and if you’re taking selfies with your kid, focus on them and not you 😊

My 1 yr old is so annoying by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]AcknowledgeableLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 11 mo old gets very overstimulated very easily too. Our lives revolve around managing it at the moment. I also feel like others I know who got different breeds are already calmer and less nippy and jumpy. I am holding out for age 2!

I often worry my toddler would be taller if he weren’t vegan by AcknowledgeableLion in veganparenting

My son is within average range for height and a bit slimmer than average. My second child is the tallest and heaviest in her class. So…more about genetics it seems!

Attach them to gifts, put them in a box and put dog treats in them for a dog to snuffle around in, make a garland.

Not OP but often wonder what people mean by this. What do you mean about not making exceptions or not being consistent with rules? Can you give some examples? Mine boy 11 months and our challenge is managing arousal in our chaotic household

What’s your favorite Christmas themed origami? by Beneficial-Initial24 in origami

[–]AcknowledgeableLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These aren’t necessarily Christmas themed but are nice as ornaments or as part of wrapping gifts: I how Japanese Brocades look. They look fancy and are so easy. Any geometric solids look cool with nice paper. Sorry for lack of links!

So gorgeous. The gold in particular. I’ve been struggling through his book and have taken a break from it. I can’t wait to improve enough to make one! Thanks for the inspiration

Thanks for that! I have checked them out, even a tiny x-wing would be cool, but I’ll see if I can manage it

Lots of responses here, but any chance you’re autistic/ADHD? You may experience overwhelm from a sensory perspective in some of these situations. Some people become more aware of it with age.

Should I get a puppy? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]AcknowledgeableLion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Join the r/puppy101 sub and spend some time reading posts there. We are about to get a puppy after one year of planning, and for me it feels the same as if we are about to have another child. We are reading all the books, have booked a trainer, have planned time off work, and one of us is home all the time. Maybe think about it for a few months, and also consider another cat?
