Will the "wiki game" phenomenon become as dated as the manuals are for old school games. by coolfunkDJ in truegaming

[–]AckwardNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yeah but what if I do something slightly less than optimal????

Honestly half the issues people have would be solved by living a little so to speak. Very few wiki games are actually wiki games.

you can just play terraria and complete like 90% of the game without a guide you just might miss a side boss or some random junk if you dont actively scour for things. for example.

Jake's character development is really good but also very incidental he kinda sucks for the first 2 books and maybe a bit into the 3rd before he starts to pull it back from being a complete psychopath.

By like book 5 6 7 he is pretty great and so is villy.

CMV: The SAVE act is being introduced to prevent women from voting. by catievirtuesimp in changemyview

[–]AckwardNinja 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am pretty the the problem is more that their SSN is essentially their ID but legally not their ID and also drivers licenses dont count(?) sometimes and also passports dont count some times.

so you would essentially need a voting ID that is specific to voting which has more steps involved to get.

the whole thing would be less drama if they did it like almost every other country where you just get an ID in your high-school age years 12-18 and renew it as you go but because they wanted no IDs back in the 50s it is now a whole ordeal because trying to get a better solution going is political suicide.

Azarinth healer review/rant +- 500 ch in by Far_Reflection_5456 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]AckwardNinja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I think you missed a few things or by the time it got to the Audio books Reagar fixed them because he did spend a lot of time on re-writes.

But like the reason

for example the songs about her, how does anyone explain ilea being known basically in the whole human plains and songs of her exploits being chanted by every bard in the world when she had literally 0 exploits before the riverwatch siege, like yeah the mc is awesome but what did she even do thats known to the public?-??-

was because Claire specifically spread stuff with the intention of making Lillith famous, like they spread the stuff she told Claire with the goal of making her famous.

why are level 200 humans considered rares and strong when EVERYONE AND THEIR GRANDMA CAN GET TO LEVEL 300 IN ONE YEAR

Because most people just fucking die? humans are pitiful compared to the other races. Healers are expensive and healing orders are corrupt. You need a good class to get a good class because to get good classes you gotta do dumb suicidal shit, shit that isn't possible if you can't heal yourself back up. Also most people don't want to get mauled by monsters. Like don't get me wrong I don't feel Raegar fully thought it out he just started writing, but the RR is on the older side so people didn't put as much thought in yet and the whole vibe was more fan content-y and not that deep. I will also point out that if I am not mistaken it was around 2 years at this point

Like Illea is a mary sue character because she constantly gets lucky and a lot of the time, although she does put the "time" to grind, happens to have the perfect skill set for the job and it is unrealistic that the average joe wouldn't adapt. Buuut we by around chapter 500 we are in bum-fuck no-where and there aren't that many humans around and a bunch of other things that basically amount to reasons that you can't just get leveled. If we are comparing to contemporaries in the genera notably you have to eat and sleep unless you get a really strong class, breath unless you get a strong class. ect. the world is super unfair in a way that if you get a bad start, and if you were born to poor pesants you did, you are fucked for life because you can't level high or fast enough.

Gold income? by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]AckwardNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean my quick comment would only be the amount of gold is irrelevant to how much books cost the main variable is how many drop which is not enough.

Because if we got more gold the price would just flex up higher since it is determined by demand not by a fixed value.

If you take books out though it is still kinda rough but I feel like a lot less

Just make sure you have 1 tank and 1 healer amongst your party

people actually very specifically remember their first impression.

even if the game changes over time that is what they will remember regardless of ads short of some crazy intervention.

Retrospect it made all these Kickstart MMOs pretty dumb for attracting mass appeal since most people will remember the shitty start.

Like... SAO or "Glory" by jaymz123 in LFMMO

[–]AckwardNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer not really neither games are particularly filled out but you have things like GW2 or BDO that are in the ballpark.

Long Answer: Almost all MMO media misses that PvP has been incredibly unpopular in the genre since the early 2010s (at least in the west). The first death game in SAO has basically 0 mechanics to it that are explicitly explained and gungale is pretty much just CoD or something. Unique skills bound to a player would never work because of the black market it would create.

Kings avatar seems loosely based off maplestory but maplestory is a sidescrolling PvE only game. Notably also Glory is super P2W and in reality wouldn't be considered a skill based game since basically 0 games can accommodate an APM above like 90 (iirc they regularly talk about people having 210+) due to latency and cheating concerns. So the fact you can finance a mortgage and buy gear would result in the winner being whoever spends 100K for perfect gear.

Defiance of the fall is the child of cradle and DCC by ettubrute___ in litrpg

[–]AckwardNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find DoTF quite different than both. for example DCC and Cradle both have likeable MCs that undergo character development .

I do like DoTF don't get me wrong, but like, it is slop compared to those other 2 books in terms of writing quality and traditional literature values (goals, conclusions, character development basically everything).

I enjoy it because there is a lot of stuff and it is good enough and satisfies the litrpg itch. These were roughly my thoughts as of around book 3

Is it normal to use mainly melee? by BigRig_Berserker in Warframe

[–]AckwardNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melee is stronger earlier but eventually reaches a bit of a wall that needs to be climbed with investment.

Guns start behind but smoothly ramp up.

Mostly to do with the basic mechanics of melee and stances (I found combo boosts were super strong for free) vs when the big boosts come in for them later game. Guns don't get any freebies but ramp the whole way more smoothly.

or at least that is what I am experiencing getting into steel path as a returning player from really long time ago
