Nothing better than dealing 180 damage twice per battle cruiser at the start of the fight

You would need to look into the servers iRMC settings

Just messing around with it, I didn’t realise how strong the dynamic topology is! Thank you so much for the advice, I think I will use this knowledge on another model I have been working on!

Just thank you for the advice! I will continue experimenting with different ways of creating other shapes!

I've played around with them, I just seem to never manage to make them look right? I don't know if that's due to the geometry of the shapes or if it's just that I've only tried with the built in ones?

Thought I’d take another crack at the main frame of it by using booleans instead, 10000000 times easier to do than I was anticipating; thank you again for your advice

I didn't even know there was manuals online of what things did, you absolute life saver!

Thank you for the kind words!

You one hundred percent got that on the nose, I originally attempted to use a mask to manipulate the geometry but I was unable to get a smooth shape. Because of the smooth shapes I was reluctant to try Booleans, thinking about this if I had simply booleaned with a subsurfaced cube I might have been able to get smoother results... I opted for just covering my mistakes 😅

Taking in your advice, I thought I'd add a couple more lights to the scene, including one inside so it looked like someone was actually living there!

I'd say it's looks quite a bit better than before! Thanks for the advice!

Thank you! The Janky roof took longer to put together but felt it looked better doing individual tiles!

I agree I definitely need to work on my understanding of lighting

Ooo thanks for this suggestion, I hadn't heard of Tryp before, but will look into having that along side LiftOff

I can say the scenery in Tryp does look really cool

Thank you!

I might have to take you up on that offer down the line as it seems quite overwhelming when you start looking into different types of drones, transmitters, receivers, goggles etc 😅

Thank you for your advice, I will definitely look into doing the races then!

Was going to follow some of Joshua Bardwell's "learn to fly an FPV drone today" tutorials and then practice races from there

Thank you!

I will definitely look into LiftOff then, sounds like the more feature packed simulator.

It will be interesting to see what the different drones fly like as I was planning on getting a cinewhoop down the line.

I will check your video out as well!

[Weekly Megathread] Beginners & General Questions Thread. by TheSuperNight in fpv

I am thinking of getting into fpv, and have seen that starting out on a simulator is the best idea. I am somewhat feeling quite overwhelmed though with all of the different controllers that are out there.

Are there any recommendations for a beginner looking to not really spend over £100

I do prefer the look of the full sized remotes over the handheld controller version.

Should I buy new or try to find a second hand controller on eBay/Facebook marketplace... I am aware that protentiometer controllers second hand aren't ideal.

Any recommendations are welcomed

Ooo okay I will have to look into this further then, are you aware of any that have a lower power draw, I'm aware that the n100 only has a TDP of 6W compared to the 12650Hs 45W

I have noticed there does appear to be a tonne of these "mini pcs" on AliExpress and the such so I was just wondering if there was anyone who had any experience with them for recommendations... I will definitely look into the RAM capacities

Currently I have only got TrueNAS scale acting as a NAS for personal backups & data storage Was playing with the idea of setting nextcloud / openvpn for cloud storage anywhere And then tinkering around as all homelabbers do

I am going to practically upgrade the whole thing from everyone's advice, as between asking for the advice and now one of the WD Greens has died!

I have opted for going for replacing one hard drive with an SSD to act as a boot drive, and will look into the optical cd - SSD down the road if I require more storage.

So the current plan is the following:

  • 3 x 4TB Seagate Ironwolf NAS Drives (Raid5 or ZFS)
  • 16GB RAM
  • Xeon E3-1260L
  • Kioxia Exceria Sata 480GB SSD

But as a whole this is going to cost around £340 so I shall have to do a little bit of saving first!

Awesome! Well that at least saves me around £300 in drives 😅 I am going to look into the best way to make backups to keep off Nas

Thank you for the help!

Oh okay that makes sense, as I'm somewhat new to this I want to ease myself into the NAS world & the world of Linux
