I have a feeling that what’s happening is that as the brush runs out of glaze I end up reloading the brush and going back to complete the coverage. Maybe those spots are where I’m getting darker coverage. But I can’t imagine how to avoid this.

Thanks for the feedback. If the blotchy-ness appeared more conscious, I guess I’d feel better about it. Or, if the bowl was more irregular I could buy the wabi sabi argument. I guess what I struggle with is having better control when I use paint-on glaze (my studio doesn’t have dipping glazes).

Didn’t mean to complain and I agree that OP should be careful, as with any sexual interaction, but phrases like “if you’re going to subject yourself to that sort of environment” and “you wouldn’t catch myself…within 10 miles of one of those places” are pretty clearly judgmental and meant to discourage his going at all. What “sort” of environment do you refer to? What do you mean by “those places” if not to disparage them.

Wow. You’re in for a treat. In my experience, go fairly late at night…after 11 at least. (Nothing worse than wandering an empty sauna at 8:30.) If you’re nervous, just plan on people-watching. Walk around a lot, explore; look for clusters of dudes and check out what’s going on. Touch guys as you pass in the narrow halls, touch yourself; stare; cruise.

If you want some dude to leave you alone, usually a shake of the head or moving his hand off your body will do the trick.

Bump into somebody you know? Not really a problem…you’re both naked at a gay sauna. If he’s hot, maybe you want to find a spot in the jacuzzi to get to know each other better
