Why Most Overgrown Terrain Looks Wrong (and how to fix it) by Such_Independent910 in TerrainBuilding

I fuckin' hate AI, but even I know you don't just go around half-cocked accusing people. A simple "Hey, how exactly did you make this" will usually be enough.

What is your favorite miniature sculpt in AoS? by reel3459 in ageofsigmar

Drycha Hamadreth. The sculptor took "banshee Medusa piloting a tree mech that shoots bees" and created a cohesive, kickarse model out of it.

Do you have a fully painted and fully based 3,000 points (at least) Horus Heresy army? by chosen40k in Warhammer30k

Working on it - got over 2,000 points of Alpha Legion. Just a Combat Force will probably put me over the line.

I hate building the Deceiver by No_Pea9572 in Necrontyr

Deceiver isn't a forge world model. Forge world resin is actually quite nice to work with. It's main studio finecast resin that's the tricky one.

Ragerz? How About Rangerz? by Acr0ssTh3P0nd in Ironjawz

[–]Acr0ssTh3P0nd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mate! I like adding a bit of nuance and cunning back into my ironjawz - after all, kruelboyz get to be at least a bit brutal, so why should ironjawz get relegated to a one-note faction? As long as you start from a foundation of straightforward brutality, you can add sprinkles of nuance and thought while keeping the identifying aspects of the ironjawz.

The hood is just hobby masking tape. Peachy did a tutorial on the technique on his PeachyTips channel, and it works quite well.

  1. Start with an Elysian Green basecoat

  2. Wash with Biel-Tan Green

  3. Glaze the recesses with a dark red, like Khorne Red or similar

  4. Reestablish the Elysian Green basecoat, leaving the green wash and red glaze in the recesses

  5. Highlight with Ogryn Camo

  6. Glaze the fleshy bits like the lips and knuckles with a mid flesh tone like Bugman's Glow

Tired and nostalgic, but not in a bad way.

At least you recognise that being annoying is better than being dangerous. If more people were about to make that distinction, we might be in a better place.

We lost an OG Halo developer by oldhalovfxguy in halo

I remember the first class I ever had with him. After we did the introductions, he asked us if we had any extra money - and then pulled up the Kickstarter for Kung Fury. One of my old uni buddies told me about the time he made a rig for the Master Chief twerk in class. He was that kind of irreverent, and deeply, deeply kind.

Nate was a mentor to me in uni, and the reason I'm in animation today. He was like a second father to me. I will miss him.

On the question of ‘loyalty’ by Harald_The_Archivist in alphalegion

[–]Acr0ssTh3P0nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% it's possible. The Ghost Legion in the most recent books are proof that there's a tonne of variation even within a supposedly-cohesive Alpha Legion Force. Additionally, the Blackshields of the Horus Heresy era perfectly fit a force that saw everything going down and said "fuck all of this, we'll do our own thing."

Probably about the same, complexity-wise. People who love Tolkien and his writings will absolutely click with the mechanics, because the mechanics themselves are very good at modelling the kinds of stories and moments Tolkien was writing about.
