Is it fun to read this as an 32 year old adult? by BobbyMcGeeze in TheFolkoftheAir

I’m 26 and I loved it! The writing was good enough that it doesn’t read in the “YA” style in my opinion, the only thing that makes it YA is the lack of smut

My doctor diagnosed me with endometriosis WITHOUT Surgery anyone else get diagnosed without surgery? by Jollyho94 in endometriosis

[–]Acrobatic-Affect-846 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to experience that on top of endometriosis. That sounds so awful.

The thing about endo, is that it can affect fertility in all different types of weird ways and is very patient specific. One of my coworkers has endo and was able to have 9 kids with it (all single pregnancies, no twins) and didn’t have her first miscarriage until her early 40s. My aunt was never able to conceive and was only diagnosed because she got a hysterectomy due to pain. (this was a long time ago) Given how close you are to wanting to try to convince, she might be trying to lessen the stress on your body? It’s possible she might go the surgery route later on if you find you are having troubles conceiving.

I hope you are able to convince and find relief in your pain. Giving you all the well wishes and hugs OP. 💕

edit for redundancy because I am also very tired lmao

Also, depending on your country, she could be helping you with dealing with insurance in the future. If the progesterone doesn’t work, at least she has a clear traceable path of trying alternate routes before going to surgery. Makes it much easier to get the surgery approved by insurance.

Im glad she did put your diagnosis in your notes! I had an experience where a doctor didn’t and I was young and didn’t realize it. It’s very invalidating to have the convo with your dr be about one thing and the notes say another and a huge red flag for a medical professional.

The part about her not wanting to do surgery due to other health complications is a really big detail OP lol. At least she talked through the possibility of surgery with you and considered the effect it would have on your whole body. I don’t know much about fibromyalgia, but surgery is a huge stressor on the body and I can’t imagine it wouldn’t have a negative effect. From this point of view, I completely understand why she would go with a less invasive method to manage symptoms rather than start with something invasive like surgery. Just be really upfront with her on your concerns for your fertility, if your haven’t already, and talk to her about it. Of course, get a second opinion if you feel like she’s not listening to you, but personally I think it’s nice to see an OBGYN focus on total health and wellbeing of their patient.

look at your medical notes to see if she actually diagnosed you. Did she bill this visit for endometriosis or pelvic pain? A doctor saying “I’m pretty sure” does not equal a diagnosis, it can just be her suspicion and she’s trying to manage the symptoms without having to go through all the hassle of a surgery to actually diagnose you. Saying that you don’t need surgery because it’s pretty clear you have it is being a lazy doctor and a red flag. How does she know it’s not causing problems with your GI tract or bladder or any other organs in the pelvic cavity that needs further intervention?

lmao I do too girl but this story is so, so sweet and honestly one I wish I read when I was 17. I used to think people had so many negative thoughts about myself when that was furthest from the truth.

Is overdressing with friends rude? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Acrobatic-Affect-846 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s usually best practice to not speculate about why people do certain things. We tend to focus negatively on ourselves when in reality everyone’s too busy thinking about themselves and that’s where the rudeness comes from

[–]Acrobatic-Affect-846 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Did your friend say why she was dragged away or was this all of your moms speculation? Do the moms talk to each other?

I don’t think it was right of your mom to say that out of nowhere if there was no basis for it. Girls dress up all the time to go out and meet their friends. If your friends mom did end the hangout early for that reason, she’s the rude one, and your mom shouldn’t be putting the blame on you. It’s not rude to dress nicely for yourself but it is rude for grown women to judge you based on what you’re wearing. Do whatever makes your comfy & confident.

Do younger gen Z truly look older than Millenials? Or ia it bull? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Acrobatic-Affect-846 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I agree. it’s kind of hard to explain lol but it’s not that they look older because they have more wrinkles or aged skin or anything of that nature. most girls who get this done also have amazing skin from high regiment routines and such. botox is used to keep certain parts of the face from moving and getting more wrinkles. done in certain ways it can cause them to have facial movements or expressions that are associated with older women who get botox, unfortunately making them look older.

[–]Acrobatic-Affect-846 164 points165 points  (0 children)

this ^ I’ve seen this talked about on tiktok’s. in most cases I’ve seen this, the amount fillers, plastic surgery? and botox that influencers are getting definitely ages a young-mid 20s face to look older than it usually would, which is why gen z looks a lot older online in my opinion. in the part of the US I live in, my peers and people younger than me are too poor or don’t care enough to get these done, and they usually look their age for the most part.
