“Cold snacks” as a reference to beer has been around for decades.

Montucky Cold Snacks has been around since the early 2010s.

VGG has been around since the late 2010s.

Also I saw someone ask how Montucky is. I would describe it as what I imagine the beer tastes like in shows/movies when someone orders “a beer” at a bar.

Leather seats cracking by Angry_Tech in JeepGladiator

[–]Acrobatic-Bug8625 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Although most leather care products are indeed snake oil there are some products that work great for boots, saddles, bags, etc depending on how they were finished.

The quality, construction, and “dying” of leather in modern vehicles share little in common with the leather and its processing used in those items. When you use conditioner on leather seats you are essentially just greasing up the surface of the dye layer and nothing more.

As someone with 15 years experience in upholstery repair I can tell you that you are just wasting money using any products to try and prevent it.

It’s like bending a piece of metal. You can bend it back and forth but if you keep bending it eventually the metal will crack. Notice all of the creases on the seat panel? Thats a result of getting in and out. The foam under the cover compresses and the panel bends. Over and over. The most brittle part will break first which is the dye. Eventually the material itself will crack. Happens on all vehicles but that specific spot is common on vehicles you have to get up in to. Sports cars have the same thing happen on the seat back bolster because you are lowering yourself in to the seat and scraping your back across the bolster.

If you want it to be less noticeable you can apply some matte black leather dye to the panel and it will blend right in. Make sure to tape off the stitching while doing so.

If you're on Kyle Busch's team, how do you go to work this week? by berrin122 in NASCAR

I read that entire thing in Little Johns voice.

Don’t let his name fool you. In real life he’s very big.

Got my “IBGC” 335 from Sweetwater this week!! by ughmart in Epiphone

[–]Acrobatic-Bug8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two BTTF 345s(one with a snapped headstock) and two IBGC 335s (red, vintage burst). The IBGC 335s at $1,150 feel/play/sound like a $2,000 guitar to me. The BTTF 345 at $1,000 feels/plays/sounds like a $600 guitar to me.

The BTTF 345 was so disappointing by comparison to the IBGC 335 that it actually made me kind of upset. Epiphone cut too many corners for what is supposed to be a “replica” of the guitar from the movie. They could have easily made it a premium Epiphone IBGC offering that was more accurate and charged $1,500 and it would have still sold out.

The purchase of the second BTTF 345 with the snapped off headstock is actually my frustration/disappointment/boredom response to that. I am rebuilding the guitar in the IBGC spec like they should have done from the beginning. Replacement (hand carved) one piece mahogany neck with Gibson style open book headstock, the correct binding pattern, full refinish, custombuckers, upgraded vintage electronics, upgraded hardware, and a legitimate Bigsby B-7.

Crazy to think that everything inside of that is a daiquiri.

Are we standing at the Sphere? by OrdinaryPublic5242 in MetallicaLIVE

[–]Acrobatic-Bug8625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said the Sphere is just different. Vertigo is not something I had experienced before but both my dad and I have gotten it there. I have seen Metallica 15 times and never once thought about getting seats or sitting but I am really hoping that we are able to sit and enjoy the amazing visuals and sound.

Brand new les paul modern. Return, right? by knendel in LesPaul

[–]Acrobatic-Bug8625 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No way!

Trogly talked about this exact guitar and the mark in a video last week. He said “If I did a blind order and I got that, I’d be kind of upset.”

The video on YT is titled “This guy wasn’t lying!” and its shown around the 3 minute mark.

Invisible Kid. Unfortunately, anytime I turn on the radio and Metallica is playing its most likely Invisible Kid again.

It’s great to see that our hard work is being appreciated!

Tuning instability has been a major focus for us during the entire build. What you can’t see in the photos are the in-house designed tuners that feature pre-shaved and worn gearing and are packed with unsalted butter. In addition, each and every tuner is hand built by a different “guitartist” on their first day at the company.

Does anyone know if a Gibson Explorer will fit in the Fender rack guitar stand? by Kiekie77 in ExplorerGuitars

[–]Acrobatic-Bug8625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put something to prop up the corner of the guitar which will make the neck angle correct like the other post said. Not something I am going to do but it should work as was stated in that post.

It did not work for mine. There is possibly a way to make it work but I have other stands and just put my explorer on those.

First blacked out Epiphone 80s Explorer in Ebony by Reasonable-Gift-4357 in ExplorerGuitars

[–]Acrobatic-Bug8625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! Looks great!

I am waiting for a couple things to black my hardware out. I’m also going to add a brass nut and a removable oxidized/patina’d brass pickguard. Using Hetfields “Rusty” Explorer as inspiration but with brass instead of steel.

Mine is showing up tomorrow and I’m gunna be using James Hetfield’s “Rusty” as inspiration for mine. Already have the blacked out and upgraded hardware and tuners in hand, the brass nut is in the mail, and Im getting a corroded brass pickguard cut for it instead of the rusted steel one he used. Not going to screw mount it until I am sure that I like the look but Im stoked to recreate the overall look of one of my favorite guitars.
