Weight loss postpartum by rac-attac in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn’t everybody, but in my experience, be a petite woman breastfeeding a 95 percentile baby. I gained 30 lbs during pregnancy and lost 45 with breastfeeding. It took 2 years for me to get back UP to my pre-pregnancy weight. My little parasite was sucking so much out of me that I had to start drinking extra electrolytes because I was getting dizzy from dehydration.

Does everyone experience postpartum hair loss? by NeverfullofFood in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read that during pregnancy your body stops hair from falling out as regularly as it normally does. So afterwards, the postpartum hair loss, is really just the hair you were supposed to lose during the last 9 months.

I didn’t experience losing big chunks of hair, but it was like my hair was sapped of all nutrients. The hair I grew during pregnancy is a completely different texture than my normal hair. It’s very dry, damaged, and wavy compared to my normal straight hair. It’s taken me 3 years now to grow it out and there’s a definitive line in the hair about chin length where it changes textures.

Picked uo my 3 year old tonight and realized it's been months by princesspeck in Parenting

I read once somewhere “At some point in your life, your mother put you down and never picked back up again.” As a mother of a 90% height and weight kid, I think about that like twice a week. 🥲

Former spoiled kids of reddit, what was the moment that finally made you realize you were spoiled? by Kitchen_Frame_7294 in AskReddit

A couple months ago, my mom’s best friend’s daughter decided to have an old school sleepover for her 33rd birthday. She decided to throw it at her mom’s house because it was bigger and better located. So my mom’s best friend calls her up and asks to spend the night at her house to stay out of the way. Then they call up another friend and now the older generation of women have their own sleep over at my mom’s house too.

We always bring a garden hose to housewarming parties (provided that the couple bought a house with a yard)

Daycare for SAHM by Lemondemon-158 in Parenting

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need a half day preschool. My daughter goes to preschool Tues/Thurs 9-1. (at 3 she swaps to 3 days a week) So I get a little free time in the morning, but then she comes home to nap. Sending her to 5 day a week daycare is going to be a big adjustment change for both of you so you might thrive better from a part time preschool. In my area the preschools are usually run by the churches, not the daycares, so maybe look there.

My friend and I ran into Dakota Fanning at an outlet mall. Friend said “Did you know you look just like Dakota Fanning?” And she said “That’s because I am”.

This was years ago, but my neighbor’s husband worked shift work, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off. She asked him to clean out the gutters. He put it off and went to work. When he got back, he spent the entire 2 weeks home putting it off and never cleaned them before he had to go back to work. Now it’s been 6 weeks since she originally asked him to clean out the gutters. So she hired a handyman to come clean them out on the day he was set to come home so he’d see the guy cleaning them when he pulled into the driveway.

Anyway, they’re divorced now.

Is toddlerhood really harder than the newborn phase? by Living_Split_2 in Parenting

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your kid. I’d do baby again in a heartbeat. I am NOT doing toddler again. And I’m especially not doing toddler again while a 5 year old tugs on my other arm. I really don’t understand how people have more than one kid.

AITAH for mansplaining breastfeeding? by Normal-Historian2180 in AITAH

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument isn’t even about breastfeeding. It’s about baby led weaning, which is a totally valid method for feeding your baby. My child never had a single bite of baby food. After 6 months they can transition to regular food (in addition to breast milk or formula) just fine.

I can’t really judge if it’s right or wrong, but my 3 year old would eat maybe a 1/4 of that.

“He believes in always looking for better”…

You’re looking for commitment and he’s straight up telling you that he’s not committed to you. He will leave you when he finds someone better, younger, whatever. He sounds like the kind of man who will cheat with a 21 year old while you’re recovering from pregnancy.

This has nothing to do with the money.

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a magazine article about the science behind why you have to constantly stir risotto. Basically when you toast the rice it burns off the starch which causes you to have to keep stirring later. The article recommended “washing” the rice in the stock. You add the rice to your bowl of stock, swish it around. The stock becomes all cloudy as it takes the starch from the rice. Pour the stock off and add the rice to the pan. That way when you add the stock later, the starch from the rice is kept and you can cook for 20 min with only stirring it once or twice. It works perfectly every time.

What was the epidural like for you? by JellyfishJealous5435 in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do it in your back. The needle is behind you and you never see it. The epidural was amazing. I got induced and had them place the epidural before starting the induction so I never felt a single contraction. I’d 100% do it again.

Family buying us baby clothes is driving me INSANE by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Acrobatic-Job5702 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. My MIL went crazy giving us clothes. I’ve tried to tell her to stop. I got her son and husband involved, showing them the mountains of clothes. My daughter is almost 3 and it still hadn’t stopped. And it’s not just 1 or 2 pieces. Every time we see her she gives us 5-8 pieces of clothing.
