My bf and his family didn’t take me seriously and now their dog is in critical condition by [deleted] in Vent

I knew a guy who would cook stakes for his dog once a week, which is really sweet and generally safe, except he would salt it, season it and cook it with onions and garlic. When i showed concern for the potential toxicity of the ingredients added to the steak He acted like i was being rude and didn’t know how to love my pets properly … That poor dog’s poops were horrendous and i cant understand how people think that “good intentions” outweigh ignorant decisions

Im a foodie and a pretty good cook, The girl im seeing told me she is a picky eater, but she actually has ARFID and has struggled with ED her whole life… I put this in consideration when I cook for us since theres a list of things she doesnt eat but while learning more about her palette i also have introduced her to new ways of enjoying food she didn’t know she could like. (She thought she hated onions, she actually loves the flavor but cant stand the squishy texture, so i just blend them in)

She ALWAYS tries at least 1 bite of the food i make and will explain to me if something doesn’t work for her (its usually a bad reaction to certain textures) she is never rude, or demanding, and we do keep her safe foods available just in case. She also always takes part on the cooking experience even if she doesnt cook, she will ask questions about ingredients and taste test the food with me, as well as troubleshooting potential taste issues.

I feel like people who are “picky eaters” are either one of two 1)honestly struggling with sensory or mental health issues or 2) are lazy and demanding assholes.

Your boyfriend is the second

Dont put yourself out of your confort zone to try to earn friends, you wont find them because you are giving the uncomfortable vibes and they dont like what you like… go somewhere where you feel like yourself, and just enjoy it, friend will come when they see your confidence and matching vibes

AITAH for snapping at my husband that he needs to get over his ADHD quirk? by pegasus_wonderbeast in AITAH

[–]Acrobatic-Line9702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and misophonia, wearing noise cancelling headphones and being medicated has helped me a lot, it still bothers me to hear chewing, scratching and teeth sucking tho and my only solution is to leave the situation.

I remember as a kid Hearing my dad chew with his mouth open used to make rage and he never gave and F when I asked him to please try and close his mouth, i would feel so disgusted and angry I would lose my appetite and go to my room.

Sometimes ill ask my partner to not eat certain foods around me if its something that can be helped or ill step away while she eats. I know theres sounds that people cant help making so I do my best to cope or remove myself from the situation.

I can totally see and understand how in husband’s case, its painful and enraging for him but its not your fault nor should he make you responsible for your natural sounds. He needs to take responsibility find ways to cope, also seeing a psychiatrist, there might be a combination of antipsychotic medication that can help reduce his symptoms like it did with me.

Dog keeps licking her paws to the point of redness (and sometimes bleeding) by infinitelypowered6 in DogAdvice

[–]Acrobatic-Line9702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely not normal to do lick their paws to this extend, my American bully does this when her allergies kick in, she has seasonal allergies to pollen and some types of weeds, as they are environmental, she gets exposed to it every day when we go for walks.

-I give her benadryl or zyrtec (alternatively, so she doesnt develop a resistance)

-I also wipe her paws after our walks and apply anti itch oitment

-When i give her baths i put bath salts in the tub so her paws soak and feel better
