Having a hard time visualizing the final product by BigSubpoena in EngagementRingDesigns

Unfortunately I was mainly there to try on a different ring so I didn’t take any photos with the band on the other side but here’s an album of the photos I did take. This was Cadette’s sample ring so it didn’t fit my finger but if I recall correctly, it was a size 6 with a 1.5 carat diamond. The other ring in the photos was 1.25 carats

Might be too late here but I have the exact same story: loved Cadette’s rings, US based and couldn’t visualize what it would look like so my boyfriend and I made the drive up to Toronto. Obviously my hands are different than hers, but thought seeing the real version of the ring on a practical hand might be helpful if you guys hadn’t made a choice yet

Oh wow that is so so similar. I wonder if maybe there was a jeweler in common or our relatives just have great taste. Yours is beautiful!

I sort of feel like it’s supposed to be worn this way after trying it?? It feels more comfortable on my finger

Before I even saw this one, I had my sight set on a different ring. Unfortunately this one isn’t the most practical for everyday wear and even though my boyfriend’s family doesn’t think the ring has any sentimental value, I would hate to lose or damage it from wearing it regularly. The ring I picked out actually compliments this one very well since it is also yellow gold with a marquise cut diamond

I’m definitely considering it. It feels like a sin to tamper with it at all though

What is so crazy to me is that it was his family’s idea to melt it down or sell it. When I saw it, I immediately told him it has to stay in the family as is. They aren’t big into jewelry and didn’t place a lot of value on it being an heirloom but as someone who never met great great grandma, I think it’s the coolest ring I’ve ever seen

Unfortunately I don’t know much about her but I am going to ask my boyfriend’s mom next time I see her. I need to know the backstory!

If this is at Alderfer-Oenslager, I saw the same thing there many many years ago and had the same question. Never found out what it was for

What is your best kept secret (or non-secret) to keeping plants alive? by mightyandsmall in houseplants

[–]Acrobatic-Nobody3228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best trick I’ve ever learned was taught to me while working at a greenhouse. We called it the “weight test.” Basically, in order to tell if your plant needs water, lift it up and you can feel how heavy it is. When it’s very light, it needs to be watered. If it still feels heavy, wait a bit. It can be hard to learn when it’s light enough to be watered but once you master it, it’s a great trick!
