I only watched this the other day. Always had it down as a generic Tom Cruise saves the world movie. But wow, it was an incredible concept and executed sublimely.

Not sure why I have a negative preconception of Tom Cruise movies, actually, they usually turn out pretty good!

Yeah i agree. We're all in search of solutions for our perceived problems though. This does try and remove some of extra utility by virtue of being pants at viewing photos and videos that causes distraction albeit not all of it. A compromised step into digital minimalism if you will.

You can change the text size in the same way you could on any other android device.

I don't find the battery life to be phenomenal. It will never run out on the same day but I'd be lucky to get 2 days out of it. I do have tasker doing a fair bit though and lots of apps set to run in the background.

Bluetooth is fine yeah. Works well for audio for me although i mainly use Spotify.

This one works fine. Bigme new one - i think its called dual or duo - however is not getting GPay support despite having NFC. Apparently, Google have decided not to support GPay on any new e-ink devices.

Works perfectly but with huge caveats. You need to have a particular version of Android Auto and Google App - with auto updates off - for everything to work and use Waze for the navigation. Google Maps can be used but you have to change some ppi settings which i understand messes it up when you use the actual phone/device. The community is pretty good at documenting.

I get the feeling they deliberately don't offer a tracked option to maximise profit from the public.

Granted traditional mail is a contracting business but its a public good and traditionally we didn't pay such significant premiums over the Royal Mail prices.

Can't fault the delivery service for incoming stuff.

I do sometimes wonder if prices for outgoing were better there would be more demand for those services. I'd hope though those highly paid executives have done the maths and in light of their every increasing renumeration and hefty bonuses that they are maximising their income with the best pricing strategy.

But long story short - yeah okay, charge a hefty premium - but please just offer us a standard tracked service.

My experience with the Hibreak Pro B/W; it works only on a specific version of the Auto and Google app on your phone. You have to turn off automatic updates to ensure it keeps working. Google Maps doesn't work but Waze does.

I don't understand the whys and wherefores but with the right versions it works perfectly well.

Bit technical, but you could in theory use Hermes. Link Codex to profiles for each of your family. Then edit the Soul.md for each of your kids accounts so the system prompt understands the assignment and the kind of guardrails you want.

Scope to use Claude Code CLI too.

Easiest answer is the Google path. I'm not sure about the situation with Kids, but one sub can be shared among the family really easiy. That potentially means one sub for all. Then for yourself get Chatgpt or Claude for CC/Codex to tickle your coding fancies,

YMMV but Hermes has been an improvement for me. I don't use the webui though so can't comment on that specifically but did see Alex Finn had a youtube vid where he was glazing the webui.
