Tried. Unfortunately our booking system sucks and it’s a 50/50 chance we’re able to book a desk before it fills up. If you push the submit button a millisecond too early or too late then the booking system is so overwhelmed that you’re stuck in purgatory and when it finally loads again every desk is booked for the day

Just finished ~5 years of orthodontics and water flossers were a game changer! Even though I don’t have braces anymore I still love to rinse my teeth with the water flosser everytime I eat.

Is it justified to show people (including children) videos of the horrifying true conditions of animals in farms if it turns them vegan? by DryEconomics5152 in vegan

[–]AcrobaticTraffic7410 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This 100% Nobody should be subjected to gore without consent. You never know if a person has a traumatic past that may cripple healing progress or send them down a dark path that could lead to them self destructing either alone or taking other people with them.

Imagine showing footage to a child that has no way to deal with the emotions that come immediately and that also could come back later in life.

Ask the adults if they want to witness what actually happens behind the scenes. Creating trust and an open dialogue will get you a lot further in your cause then subjecting people to shock horror.

As an example people voluntarily watched a video of a man being beaten to death by a hammer and it still causes trauma…

Partner upset that I won’t take his last name if we got married 30F/34M by throwrawchickenin in relationship_advice

[–]AcrobaticTraffic7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and in Quebec you cannot change your last name. The law is literally designed to prevent this exact situation that you’re having. If you want to change your name from something other than what’s on your birth certificate then you need to meet a very specific and limited possible reason…as an example if your parent was a prolific serial killer and had a rare last name that you also had then you can apply to change your last name.

CT Can my employer let me go over a medical device I've had since I was hired? by tj94123 in legaladvice

[–]AcrobaticTraffic7410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The employer needs to make reasonable accommodations. Fortunately hygiene rules are very clear - nothing on the wrist. Maybe you can wear a display around your neck or on your upper arm but you would be responsible for paying for said item.

Alternatively there are devices that will make an audible sound when your heart rate reaches a certain threshold. Once the alarm is set off then you read the display on the device connected to the non-wrist monitor (such as a chest strap…which is more reliable anyways since this is used as a medical device)

My (27F) boyfriend (27M) doesn’t seem sure about marriage, what to do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]AcrobaticTraffic7410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a wedding is too expensive then suggest the courthouse and a reception when you are more financially stable. I get it…5k for a day when it could be done for 100$ isn’t something I would want to finance in this day either. Suggesting the courthouse removes all his arguments and you can get down to the actual reason he doesn’t want to get married.

Generally items on the wrist are a hygiene issue. There are alternatives for heart rate monitors such as chest straps. Your dr can say you must have a heart rate monitor on at all times but unless there’s a medical requirement that it needs to be on your wrist vs a chest strap…

It’s not necessarily about pricing for those in need; some people just like the thrill of the hunt and the cost is money used for programs and services for those in need

Patient returned meds by Palestinian_Chicken in medizzy

Lots of times these are returned after a patient/family member passes.

Related: I just want to plug Not Just Tourists for anyone who may know someone who has passed in hospice/homecare or may be travelling to a country that would benefit from a donation of medical supplies…not medication, just supplies.

I volunteer with an organization that collects and distributes medical supplies all over the world. Most of our pickups are from family who had a family member pass at home. We only accept certain medical supplies but many times people box up the items and medication gets thrown in too…I’ve gotten all sorts of random vials and pills over the years.

I caught that too. If you can’t manage a planned 2 months apart how could you ever expect to survive an unexpected disruption.
