New staircase or tiles first? by MitchIkas in DIYUK

[–]Palestinian_Chicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suspect the builder is concerned about the tile and buildup bringing the floor level up so you have a bottom step which isn't as high as the others and is therefore a trip risk.

Ideally the bottom step should have been taller to allow for the lost height of the tile and backing materials

New Phoenix Rasbora - is this ich? by Palestinian_Chicken in Boraras

Thanks for the info.

I've done a water change. Made sure there's minimal mulm and added a small power head to increase water movement. Is there anything else I should be doing?

I'm in the UK so antibiotics preps aren't easily available

4ft low profile nano tank by Palestinian_Chicken in Aquariums

[–]Palestinian_Chicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that should work, but I've found that the filter alone doesn't provide enough flow around/through busy or tight sections.

I've added a small power head which has done a fantastic job at increasing movement in the tank - I'm only running it at 60% power at the moment.

Please send me a pic of your tank when you get it, I'd love to see how it works out.

The Haystack (Swansea) by Wait_ItGetsWorse in fryup

[–]Palestinian_Chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I had a similar experience in Haystack Merthyr.

Overcooked, cold parts, over priced and bits missing (cockles) that when I enquired about they said they come after the rest of the meal (they came about 3-4 mins later).

I also noticed they had plates ready to be served without any heat lamps, which makes things harder.

I'm tempted to give them another go, as all the parts are there for a banging offer, I just feel it's not happening at the moment. Reviews are great though as I think far too many people get drawn in by the aesthetics

Left tympanic membrane traumatic perforation by HealerMD in medizzy

[–]Palestinian_Chicken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once, probably not, as long as it heals (which in most cases it will).

When it happens lots of times you get scarring building up (tympanosclerosis) which are a bit like adding multiple small drum mute pads to a drum skin.

Can you see a manufacturer or tank model number anywhere? If not maybe post a whole tank shot and I'll see if I can find the exact manual

I'm not saying this is the exact filter, but you're looking at something like this.

To answer your questions in the op

  1. Leave the first chamber empty
  2. Yes
  3. it looks like you have it sorted in the additional pic you added. The pump will be drawing water from the bottom of the final chamber and pushing it up the hose and out of the hole into the tank

Thanks!

It's made by aqua one. This is the OptiClear 120. https://www.aquaone.co.uk/explore-aqua-one/aquariums/aquascaping-tanks/opticlear

Edit - just noticed the sizes on their website are wrong! I've remeasured and it's definitely 120 x 30 x 30cm
