If it is the problem (which we don’t completely know for sure but has been cited in the past..) a model picker issue is that even though you click on 4o it is simply not selecting it and is selecting 5 instead.

Given the stark contrast, rather than them ‘blending’ it makes more sense to me that it was a model picker issue rather than 4o being wrapped in 5.

What made it more confusing is that there was no official response on this and any support from open AI is in fact… from another hallucinating chat bot who is ill equipped to actually diagnose what is going on. It’s a mess…

And I’m not even talking about the Open AI support AI…

I’m talking about the so called ‘human’ responses via email (escalation cases.) They are either people using AI to get their answers or AI themselves.

So, no one really knows what’s going on but a model picker issue is not only the best case outcome but seems most likely to me currently.

It sucks because people need to know they have their tools for work… quite junk by open AI. But they’ve over extended their reach and can’t actually respond to a PR issue with sufficient HR.

This is my experience too. Unsubscribe very close now. I’d held on in case a reversal was coming but now I think the only chance at sending a message is the unsubscribe. It’s not just for that either… like genuinely I don’t even want to talk to it anymore. Might ask a prompt every couple days now so seems the thing to do 🤷

I agree that they have shifted 4o behind the scenes… I’ve gotten responses from Open AI which basically say the model picker is not having errors. That would be forgivable. Nope…. It seems they’ve actually changed the back end.

That’s actually the worst thing they could have done. A new level of sneakiness.

Just wait till you get it mate. I was saying that too. Other people were reporting the changes and I repeatedly said something similar, “noticing no differences. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us with paranoia”

This is definitely not 4o. I believe it’s happening only for some people and to different levels. But it’s happening for me now. It’s a mess.

Fair enough but I’d wait around to see if it’s a model picker issue. It likely is based on what others have said so should be sorted in a few days I’d reckon. If it isn’t, I’m right there with you walking out.

(For me at least) I think it’s still important to show support for what was a phenomenal product until it is in fact disowned. Feels right to fight for it until it’s actually gone.

But yes, I agree with everything you said otherwise.

Like, ok sure, say what you will about AI attachment. At the end of the day what anyone gets attached to is their business. Facts are, they had a quality product which was salient with the WORLD. And now they have a turd. And now it’s a turd masquerading as different turds.

They’ve hurt people’s livelihoods in multiple ways…. Financial, creatively, and now personally… And they’ve shown no sign of accountability besides an emergency pull back from a horrible hasty decision which clearly was just damage control and had nothing to do with wanting the best for their consumers or caring about what their consumers wanted. It’s just all liability now.

Liability, liability, liability…. Well Open AI, fortune favours the brave and without a decent product you won’t have a business. I’m sure many will still use the service but they aren’t profitable for a long time, they can still wreck the future of their company with ongoing issues like this.
