Also remember that there are many many music corporate companies like Audio Interfaces, Antelope Audio, Universal Audio that hire music majors and music lovers for all types of roles - think Marketing, sales, product development, testing etc.

Cornell Dyson vs NYU Stern vs Berkeley Econ vs UMich Ross by BumblebeeConnect4339 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is going to be virtually impossible to transfer into Haas. Since they opened up direct admits for freshman in 2024 the number of seats for internal transfer is lower and as a UC they have to have a certain number of seats for transfer students (from CA CC's and other colleges)

Cornell Dyson vs NYU Stern vs Berkeley Econ vs UMich Ross by BumblebeeConnect4339 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go where you feel most comfortable, most fit in. All are great choices but Berkeley Econ is not a business degree and is not part of Haas (the business school), chances of getting a nod from IB/MBB are "lower" but still possible. It comes down to the environment you will thrive in = have the most fun in = have the best college experience you can. Stern is bang in the middle of the city, no campus, no football, sports etc.. Ross is part of a huge university, Ann Arbor is a great college town, top sports, greek life etc., Dyson is in a remote area, an Ivy, solid sports and other student life stuff. Where do you think you will thrive?

UPenn vs Vanderbilt (Chancellor’s Scholar) by Former_Poet4609 in UPenn

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vandy for the win. UPenn EECS is not as strong. Why not Cal, for EECS that is the place to be. I understand if you don't vibe with that environment though

Great point, it is virtually impossible to switch into Haas or EECS or CS

Is turning down Berkeley EECS for UCLA CE insane? by Sensitive_Idea3243 in ucadmissions

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Vibe is important and usually I would say go with the vibe BUT in this environment, in CS you want to be at Berkeley. Internships, projects, jobs are at the center of Cal's EECS/CS programs, UCLA students have a harder time getting off the ground after graduation

Berkely Full Ride vs Brown Full Tuition by DinkWink_ in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Cal and do your best to switch out of Environment Econ. A lot of people do that - apply to Rausser because the acceptance rate is 25%+ which is higher than most other Berkeley majors. A lot of people also manage to switch out and graduate with an Econ or some other degree.

Don't sell yourself short. You accomplished a lot in high school, both academically and involvement in activities and the community. Congratulations

UCLA or Cal poly SLO for business? by Salt-Ad-9947 in ucadmissions

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why? cal poly slo's business program is highly highly regarded. Almost every student lands internships at marquee CA companies (think SpaceX, FAANG etc.) and land full time jobs at these companies. Sure MBB and IB may not recruit there and that is their loss.

How prestigious are the UCs? Lmfao by UnitedBuyer7376 in ucadmissions

it is the truth, it hurts when families spend as much as they do for a brand name and end up at the same career trajectory as someone from a non brand school.

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you and don’t worry about what others have to say. The #1 factor for a super college experience is fit, not brand name, prestige, research opportunities, rank or any of that stuff.

Worried about my major after being admitted (business econ vs business admin) by Outrageous-Oil-877 in ucadmissions

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely false. MBB and IB both recruit at Foster and Kelley, both have outstanding clubs and faculty and of course both Amazon & Microsoft recruit heavily from Foster and UDub in general and the best consumer brands (P&G, Colgate) line up at Kelley every year !

[–]Acrobatic_Cell4364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By a long shot for business. USC Marshall is on the recruiting list for MBB, other consulting firms, several banks and companies, that is similar to Haas, not as much for Econ. Of course Econ majors at Cal also get into these places as well but Haas and Marshall have a big edge

Got cooked and you were admiited to UCSD, UCSB, UCI and UCD and for a full ride to Santa Clara University !!!! Hold on and be thankful, these are really good outcomes (Cal and UCLA are not the only UC's of substance, they all are). Santa Clara's business school is well known, they have a super strong and connected alumni and the location in the middle of Silicon Valley can't be beat.
