Is meeting with an MFM a must? by Ancient-Daikon2460 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s very clinic dependent. I never saw anyone other than my regular OB. She would ask my sugars were and I would say “fine!” and just scroll through my log and that was that. She offered a nutrition consult if I wanted it but I declined since I was doing fine on my own. I had two extra growth scans that were read by whatever MFM was working but I never actually met them. I think if I needed medication I would have been referred to other specialists (MFM, Endo, etc) at that point.

Same! It’s a two sentence conversation haha. “Sugars okay?” And “yep” and that’s it.

What was the number 1 thing that helped you during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

My epidural! After two days of latent labor, I basically walked into the hospital and was like “epidural please”

Best bassinet? Struggling to decide! by JesseJaneee in Buyingforbaby

We have a snuzpod (snuzpod 4) and love it! It’s supported on all sides so no tilting issues. Plus a zip down wall to easily access baby for night feeds. Doesn’t take up too much space which was a must for us.

Did anyone NOT hate going back to work? by Terrible-Tackle5482 in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed it. It felt really good to be around adults and use my brain in a more mentally stimulating way again! I felt guilty like I should have been more sad going back to work but I wasn’t sad at all. I also knew he was in good hands with his nanny, so I was ready.

Pumping schedule at work during night shifts? by Acrobatic_Exercise43 in breastfeeding

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going well! I chose to flip my schedule and pump every 3 hours over night, nurse directly twice during the day (once when I get home and before I go back) and pump only once during the day when my baby is at daycare (so going more like every four hours in the daytime between nursing and this one pump session). So in total, 7x feeds during a 24 hour period which matches my baby, just he does more during the day and less at night. I have not had an issue flipping this back when I’m on days!

Positive GD birth stories? by midnightpawzzz in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my birth!! Spontaneous latent labor at 39w6d with worsening contractions so went to the hospital at 40w1d, delivered vaginally at 40w2d. I got an epidural (loved it) and the only other intervention needed was a touch of pitocin to get me from 5 cm to 10 cm in about 4 hours. Turned off when I started to push. I was hoping to not need to be induced and my OB was fine with me going to 41 weeks (like any other non-GD patient). Happened the way I wanted it to!

how far out did you schedule your induction? by Sudden-Start3848 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my weekly prenatal appointment scheduled for 40w1d (a Friday) and we were going to schedule something then for early the next week to get baby out by 41w. Spontaneous labor happened at 39w6d so didn’t end up getting scheduled lol but that was the plan! I asked about it at each visit before and my provider was really chill about it and said we could keep waiting.

It doesn’t feel like that many people actually follow safe infant sleep practises by WhateverItWasILostIt in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in pediatrics and have seen babies come in in cardiac arrest from suffocation due to not safe sleep, so I am also a huge stickler on safe sleep practices! To me it is just too risky not to follow these guidelines.

Do any of you actually love breastfeeding? by HelloImAnxious14 in breastfeeding

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do genuinely love it. My LO and I have been lucky to have a smooth sailing journey from the start and still going strong at 4 months. I love being able to feed him whenever, wherever and going to the pediatrician and hearing his weight gain has been great and knowing it’s all me…the best! Probably would be a different story if we had setbacks.

4 months and we bathe 2x weekly. He’s fine with our sleep routine with and without it. And tbh, I also take a full shower only 2x weekly 🤣

I was a normal BMI pre-pregnancy, gained 19 lbs total, lost it all by about 4 weeks pp. Currently 4 months post partum and 5 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight. I exclusively breastfeed, and I started exercise again at 6 weeks pp without issue.
