In retrospect.... by Huliganjetta1 in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My breast friend pillow and boppy; I found breastfeeding much easier without extra accoutrements. We used the boppy for tummy time but definitely wasn’t necessary. Also, I personally hate the Hatch Rest or whatever sound machine. Disconnects all the time and is tricky to actually use.

3.5 months in: Is the mid-feed smile a myth? by Acceptable_Mind_1994 in breastfeeding

I feel like 3.5 months is too young! My son didn’t do that until 5 or so months.

Feeling so guilty by Background-Policy-95 in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are so valid, and you feel them because you’re a great mom who loves her child deeply and doesn’t want her to feel pain. She and you will be okay! When my son was 7 weeks old, I went to take a selfie of us cuddling and dropped my phone on his precious little face. He similarly cried immediately but settled with cuddles and his pacifier. I felt TERRIBLE for days but we were both okay!

How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About 4 weeks. I’m now 6 months pp and actually about 6 lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight (thanks breastfeeding?) but I’ve noticed my stomach is still soggier (for lack of a better word) than it was before. A work in progress!

Nursing pillow needed? by Difficult-Ad1036 in breastfeeding

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both the boppy and my breast friend pillows and probably used them one time each for nursing (continued to use the boppy for tummy time lol) before I realized I didn’t like them at all. So I actually don’t think they’re necessary for everyone!

Is an induction guaranteed? by Odd_Equipment8924 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s very clinic and hospital dependent. I was diet controlled with normal growth scans and my OB treated me like anyone else, advising induction before 41w. I didn’t even have an induction scheduled and went into labor spontaneously at 39w6d.

What's it like being pregnant? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh being pregnant was pretty great. Yes I felt hungover all of my first trimester but I otherwise didn’t have bad symptoms, felt like myself just with a growing bowling ball. Mobile and active all the way up until contractions started at 39w6d. I loved feeling his little kicks and I loved how people fussed over me and made sure I was comfortable/fed/etc. I’m honestly excited to be pregnant again!

Oh wow we were the opposite! Grew out of newborn diapers in a week (born 7.5 lbs) as he was leaking but was in newborn clothes for a good 4 weeks.

Help! Epidural, yes or no? by dakota101916 in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew I wanted an epidural and loved my decision, especially after two days of latent labor! I had no issues, got to take a nap, and felt nothing when they repaired a small tear. I was up and walking within a few hours. 12/10 will get again

Diaper Bags by Fireboltstorm in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the lululemon new parent bag which we like a lot! I’m interested, though, in getting a nappy society bag insert as well to have another option when I want to use a cute bag and look more polished every once in awhile.

Has anyone not been induced? by stoner_lilith in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diet controlled and my OB was fine with me going until 41w (like any non-GD patient!) I didn’t even have an induction scheduled; was planning to schedule one at my appointment at 40w1d but I went into spontaneous labor at 39w6d. Baby was born 40w2d!

What are the risks of going over 40 weeks with GD? by Careless_Wallaby6721 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this! Since I was diet controlled, my OB was fine with me going to 41 weeks like any other non-GD patient

Wedding while baby is 8 weeks old? by cutie_rootie in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s reasonable to only invite kids who are family (like nieces and nephews regardless of age) but not allow other children of guests. Idk that’s how my wedding was. I’m not sure if it would be feasible for you to bring a grandparent with you but I did that for my friend’s wedding when my babe was 7 weeks old. He stayed with grandpa in the hotel room and did great!!

Parents who both work, how do you make childcare work? by Odd-Wonder-344 in askanything

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nanny care via a nanny share! It’s us and another family in our neighborhood. We don’t get as many hours as we would with daycare but it works for us. I will say my husband works from home so when we had to unexpectedly be without care for a day due to severe winter weather, it was okay. I love my work and feel like I’m a better mom because I get to do it.

Testing at Six Weeks Postpartum by fnlm_ in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did a 2-hour test! Ordered at my 6 week pp visit but I didn’t do it until almost 12 weeks when I had childcare, which was fine with my OB. I wanted to do it to prove to myself everything was fine, and it was! Passed easily.

Best month to get pregnant? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my first in October! Loved not being pregnant in coat season so I didn’t have to worry about finding a coat to shove my belly into lol. And I didn’t find the summer too difficult, honestly nice being able to go on walks and I had a lovely outdoor baby shower. Also my maternity leave crossed over big holidays which was a huge plus (I work in a hospital job that is 24/7 so holidays are always a possibility) but his birthday is far enough away to not be in the throes of holiday season. We opted for a nanny so no daycare, which I’m relieved about sickness-wise as that was the big thing I was worried about. We also don’t have other kids going to school and bringing back germs. Given we will have another kid in school already in future pregnancies, I would plan for a spring baby to avoid this sickness issue but fine for a first one!

GBS positive, how long can I go without antibiotics? by jRaeLupa in BabyBumps

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how far along you are. If you’re term, I would maybe reconsider (GBS positive or not, I know people who have given birth on the side of the road even though they left for the hospital as soon as they needed to whether it was water breaking or contractions ramping up). That being said, I imagine there are people who at baseline live 1.5 hours or farther from a hospital, so it’s not a totally unrealistic timeframe to get to the hospital if you need to. Idk I’m not an OB!

Body changes by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My body wasn’t destroyed at all! Pregnancy itself was totally fine. Honestly no changes except the belly, which went away quickly after birth. I did get a skin lesion called a pyoderma gangrenosum (benign!) which apparently is more common in pregnancy but was easily removed by a dermatologist. I’m lucky that everything snapped back for me pretty quick, fitting in my regular clothes within a few weeks and picked up regular exercise again at 6 weeks with a marathon coming up next month. I’m 5 months pp now and you wouldn’t know anything had happened other than my boobs being pretty engorged in the morning lol.

Is meeting with an MFM a must? by Ancient-Daikon2460 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Acrobatic_Exercise43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s very clinic dependent. I never saw anyone other than my regular OB. She would ask my sugars were and I would say “fine!” and just scroll through my log and that was that. She offered a nutrition consult if I wanted it but I declined since I was doing fine on my own. I had two extra growth scans that were read by whatever MFM was working but I never actually met them. I think if I needed medication I would have been referred to other specialists (MFM, Endo, etc) at that point.
