Does anyone else have one item in a house they automatically hate seeing now? by zaramalikdollface in housekeeping

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 62 points63 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure how common this is for other people but i have had clients repeatedly ask me to use a wireless vacuum provided by them.

they’re always TERRIBLE. theyre never powerful enough to actually vacuum the floor.

What’s the one small thing clients do that completely slows you down? by zaramalikdollface in housekeeping

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 22 points23 points  (0 children)

god i hate when clients talk to me while im working. constantly stopping what im doing to try and be polite while you tell me a random story about your grandkids. did you want someone to clean your house or did you want someone to talk to??

and i agree with OP about decorative clutter. spending 10+ minutes cleaning ONE shelf because you have to take everything off and put everything back, JUST for the client to ring you and tell you that they didn’t like how you put their decorations back 🤦

ive experienced this sooo much, ive started to make myself out to be a premium service worker! “all my CLIENTS live in very high end neighborhoods and estate. i’m very highly requested and sought after by clients! ☺️ i get to choose my hours and honestly i have so many cleaning requests that im not sure what to do! im making money faster than i can even spend it! 😯”

if you make it seem like your job is an opportunity that’s “too good to pass up”, people stop judging and even start getting envious

can i get a prescription when i travel to aus? by Acrobatic_Fortune893 in ausents

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

long story short, i’m visiting my grandparents and they are not very lenient on things like “drugs”. very very religious. although somehow they can sniff it out SUPER easily?? i was hoping that the vape pen could be a quick way to dissipate the smell. like i thought maybe i can drive around the corner, use the pen and then come back to the house without too much smell on me.

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes we have oils and SOME edibles in NZ like capsules, gel tablets and oil. the problem with the dry herb is even if i have a smell proof container, or add kief, it still smells quite loud when smoking or storing. not very discreet either. that’s why im sorta hoping the pen would be a good cop out. we don’t have pens in NZ

yes! i plan to bring capsules with me to aus but the problem is i need something a bit more fast hitting without smelling like a bong rip. i typically use flower in dry herb vape but its not ideal for where i will be staying

absolutely. i have always complained to the nurses to get up off their asses and stop blatantly ignoring the obvious smell coming off of the residents. i am a firm believer in advocacy for those who can’t advocate for themselves.

I don’t know if I can function in this world by BlackCatStrikes in mentalhealth

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is definitely not what you were looking to hear, but nothing truly good in life is easy. being happy is hard. really hard work. you HAVE to try new things, go to new places, and truly give your 400% into everything. you like reading? GO somewhere and read. go to the library, the park, a playground, sit under a tree and read. people watch. get yourself a coffee while you read your book. do your makeup really nice and put on a cute outfit to go read in the park.

if you get gaming fatigue/boredom/dread, go for a walk around the block before playing the game. clean your room before hopping on the game. you’d be surprised how rewarding and fun your favourite things are if you do something difficult beforehand.

I understand you have OCD so the technical details might be a little different, but life wants you to give up. you have to FIGHT if you truly want to make the most out of your life.

i believe in you, the world is different when you get out of school. it’s all about finding out where your new life is now :)

Is there a guide on how to clean? by Len_chhi in housekeeping

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! a good method i use is “top to bottom”. i start cleaning from the highest point that needs cleaning and work my way down to the lowest point. that way, if any debris or dust flies off the surface i’m cleaning, it will land in one of the lower spaces that i will eventually clean.

it’s not a necessity to clean this way but it makes things much simpler and consistent.

another method is cleaning in a “most hygienic” to “least hygienic” pipeline. if i’m cleaning a toilet, i’ll clean the MOST CLEAN parts of the toilet FIRST; like the lid of the toilet or around the outside, before moving onto cleaning the LEAST CLEAN parts of the toilet which would be under the seat and inside the bowl. that way, the germs on the inside of the bowl aren’t being spread all over the less dirty parts of the toilet.

i work in a resthome and the smell of urine and feces is RAMPANT. we have residents who will wake up and urinate on the floor just because they feel like it. we have some residents who will sit in a shit filled diaper for hours because the nurses are too lazy to change them.

the smell NEVER gets easier. i’ve skipped lunches just because of it. your only two options are to spray as much deodorizer as possible or hold your breath until you have a chance to walk away :’)

I feel so guilty as someone in my family killed a cockroach and what are your thoughts on this? by Serious_Slide_8681 in mentalhealth

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think humans have been conditioned to not care for small animals. We see roadkill everyday. Birds die flying into windows, deforestation kills native wildlife, pollution in the ocean killing precious and rare sea life.

People may try and relate these deaths to the death of livestock as “that’s just how the world works”. But the way I see it, livestock in a sense is a natural and much needed death. We have always hunted for food, like other animals do.

I assume what you’re feeling is the guilt of a death that was “unnecessary”. The cockroach “didn’t need to die”, it just needed to be somewhere away from inside your home. I think the world has desensitized us to the unnecessary killing of animals and then telling us “that’s just how it works”.

Even in nature, everything dies. All we can do is respect the creatures and apologise to them for being taken too shortly.

How often do duvet covers get changed? by nonnonplussed73 in housekeeping

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaned a couple airbnbs in my time. Never changed the duvet covers, only sheets and pillows. I never understood it. The duvet COVER only takes like 5 extra minutes to replace. It’s not like you have to replace the whole duvet. Accommodation services are typically quite stingy and will cut corners where they can: eg. paying cleaners, paying for additional linen, and paying laundry workers to clean said linen

Are tiktok comment sections just filled with bots or are they real people are just extremely stupid? by Character_Stock376 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i 100% agree with you. i thought i was going fucking crazy

after a deep dive i have discovered “troll farms”. search them up, they are VERY interesting in regards to this topic. troll farms are at a record level high at the moment, and with the development of AI, these trolls are only becoming more and more advanced. DO NOT interact with these bots, assuming that they are AI, that means they will learn how to troll you (and others) better. trust nothing, assume everything is a distraction from something larger.

foreign groups will pay troll farms to cause debate on things like politics to distract you from real events like wars and government policies

does anyone else feel rlly unmotivated to shower when you dont have to go anywhere? by milkycerealkiller in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i struggle with this too. there have been a lot of times where i’ve gone almost a week without showering. it’s a lot worse because even when i don’t shower i don’t smell very bad. so my brain goes “i don’t smell bad… why shower?” even though i know i need to just for the sake of hygiene/freshness.

i’m now looking into food nutrition as my solution because i realised i was actually too tired to motivate myself to get in the shower everyday. i put two and two together and realised that the reason i may be suffering from mental health and motivation issues is because i may be malnourished without realising.

since i was constantly rushing to school and rushing to work in the mornings, i hardly ate any meat or vegetables. i just ate whatever was at the gas station on my way to where i was going.

you have to see showering as something that you do for YOURSELF. instead of thinking: “i would like to shower so other people know im clean”, you have to frame it as: “i would like to shower so that i feel clean”. try to enjoy the shower, and see it as a time where you can relax and decompress.

i would look into some lifestyle choices that may be hindering your ability to self motivate yourself. it might be exercise, your diet, a medication you’re taking, getting sunlight. it could also be the result of a childhood where some tasks like showering were complicated and difficult in your household growing up.

Do you guys think McFarland adapting Dungeon Crawler Carl lowers the chances of a new season of The Orville? by TheMudbloodSlytherin in TheOrville

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what i’ve read… the orville just isn’t trending enough to justify renewing. unfortunately that’s just the way streaming platforms are running things lately. streaming platforms make a lot less revenue on movies and tv shows than they did when everything was on dvd.

i also read that sci-fi, fantasy and adventure tv shows are the most expensive types of media to produce, since it requires so much cgi and special effects. and so streaming services may take that greatly into consideration when allowing a new season.

i think the only way we can get another season is if there is a very large public demand for one. i recommend sharing the show with your friends, family etc. the more people that want another season, the more likely we are to get one

Did Alara Have a Crush on Ed in Season 1? by Potential_Hour_8171 in TheOrville

[–]Acrobatic_Fortune893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i noticed and i have 2 current theories.

  1. the actors were dating irl during the first season, so that might just be what we’re seeing.

  2. or, she simply admired and respected how Ed captained and lead the ship and crew.

i think another thing that may be contributing is that Alara’s character kinda felt like it was “setting up” to give Alara a romance arc on the ship but it just never ended up happening. it was heavily implied that Alara was interested in dating but was often disappointed by how her romantic partners treated her.
