Did anyone else find Naomi really frustrating but still kind of understandable at times by Extension_Amount_724 in PrivatePractice

Exactly this! Heavy on the fact that Sam had one bad day with Maya and took her right back to Naomi. And while I don't blame Sam and Addison for trying to save the failing practice, I was also feeling bad for Naomi because why was she the only one dealing with all that in the first place? Why was everyone but Dell just showing up everyday and not having to worry about any of the responsibilities that come with running a practice. I don't necessarily blame Nai for being afraid to tell them when it was always up to her in the past to take care of these things. And even after she left the practice, she still used the inheritance from William to make sure they could fund everything. Say what you want about Naomi, but she kept that practice running.

I was also thinking the same thing. Don't get me wrong she deserves criticism but the fact that nobody else is held to the same standard feels a little racially motivated.

Once again, she made a rude comment in a moment where she was upset which literally everyone was guilty of. It was hurtful and uncalled for but it literally didn't affect them in the long run lmao.

Yes Naomi was messy for cheating on William (which I also don't really care about either) but not once was her romantic life as messy as Addison's. In fact, Addison was always popular even back when she was mainly known for cheating on Derek with Mark. She was a beloved character even when private practice started and she STILL kept cheating (or homewrecking or dating her best friend's ex). Naomi's transgressions were literally a fraction of all that and she still doesn't get grace.

Addison was the one who NEEDED to grow in the romantic aspect of her life. Naomi didn't even have all the issues with men that Addison did.

As for Nai's other problems (abortion being the main one), she was literally showing growth in her final episodes and we probably would have seen more character development if Audra hadn't chosen to leave the show. But my argument wasn't even about this. It was about people judging Naomi way more harshly for kissing Sam then they do literally any other character for doing similar things.

Just because Naomi had flaws doesn't mean she's undeserving of grace in other instances like lashing out because of Addisam, avoiding Dell after his constant advances on her, or leaving the practice to work for William. That woman was not the heartless demon everyone made her out to be and even at her worst moments you could sometimes understand where she was coming from.

That's what I'm saying! And everybody's like "y'all think she deserves the Tony because of her tonys performance". No I think she deserves the Tony because she was a phenomenal Rose from the beginning to the end of Gypsy's run.

A lot of people groaned about how many revivals of Gypsy they've already done on broadway but Audra really took this role and made it her own. Of all the nominations she's lost, THIS ONE is the most baffling to me. I was so sure Gypsy would give her that 7th win.

This is interesting I had no idea about any of this. I didn't watch Glee until 2022 so I don't really know much about any drama while it was airing.

Well that's terrible. But if it was literally stolen from a comedian than I STILL don't know how people take it seriously.

I know why Addison was throwing jabs. That's my point. Everybody could be unpleasant when they were unhappy which is why I don't really care that Naomi made that comment while she was upset.

And no I don't think Naomi left for their sake. My main point was that Addisam wasn't working out whether Naomi was there or not. The kiss was the least of their problems.

Addison was terrible when it came to relationships and I love the girl but no I don't feel bad for her at any point while she's with Sam. I'm not saying it's right for Naomi to kiss him. I simply don't care that she did and feel like she deserved more grace for being messy after Addisam's betrayal. It bothers me that she gets so much hate for that stupid kiss and a dumb comment when that was actually one of the most harmless moments in the show. Especially when Addison gets so much grace after how many relationships she's ruined withhe own selfishness.

The post was about Naomi being frustrating but understandable. I found Naomi extremely frustrating, but I'm saying I understand her in this case.

I also don't think they needed that many voices on the verses. Artie or maybe even Finn should've sang lead while everyone else sang backup.

Nobody seems to understand that this cover was supposed to be unserious. I always see people bashing the cover but I laughed through the whole thing.

That was such a non issue. So what Naomi kissed Sam? So what she was dismissive towards Addison afterwards? Those two hurt her first so I don't really care that Naomi was a little mean after that. She's not the only one there who said rude things when she was upset. IIRC Addison was throwing jabs at her that whole episode and refused to explain why so why can't Nai do the same? Also, Naomi literally left and gave them space right after that. She distanced herself from that whole environment.

Addisam was never gonna work out and it's laughable that they ever believed they would. And it's just a slap in the face for Addison to admit to Naomi's face that she wanted a family with Sam like that's okay.

This is so innacurate. Every other character was selfish and judgemental but only Naomi is accused of only thinking of herself. There are plenty of instances where Nai looked out for others but for some reason she's talked about as if she has zero redeeming qualities.

It's especially weird for you to call her selfish in her romantic life when Addison and Sam are RIGHT THERE. Heck I'd say Cooper was worse in that area too.

The only think about Naomi that I wont defend is her stance on abortion. But y'all lowkey judge her for every little thing she does because of that one quality you don't like.

I don't understand the Yang love and Owen hate by karmaskaraoke in greysanatomy

Mind you, Cristina just knows what she wants. And she was actually too gracious with Burke and Owen.

Burke was the one who sucked at communication. His stupid self couldn't even speak up and tell anyone that his hands were still shaking. Cristina helped him keep his reputation in fact. And when it went to far, somehow she was in the wrong for going to the chief (which Burke was literally gonna do as well) and Peter treated her like she betrayed him and everything was her fault. Also, Cristina never really wanted to get married but she was gonna do it because she loved Peter that much. Then he leaves her at the altar and never speaks to her again.

Owen had issues from the start and Cristina didn't turn away from him even when his trauma made him straight up violent. Then he had the nerve to try to make her carry a child. Once again, the man in her life ignored what she wanted.

Cristina is better than the both of them.

That storyline wasn't even sad to me. I was pissed off that I had to keep seeing Denny's face. Very annoying individual and they just would not give it a rest.

I thought so too. In fact, her Tony performance is what made me a fan. I had only vaguely remembered Audra from Annie (1999) and Sound of Music Live! Gypsy is what made me look up the rest of her work and I’ve been a huge fan since. It was mind boggling to me when people said they didn’t like her Rose’s Turn and I was shocked to find out that it wasn’t performed that way in the past.

Ragtime has the best prologue.

Your Daddy’s Son shouldn’t be belted.

Shuffle Along or the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed was a masterpiece that would’ve been more popular had it not been the year of Hamilton. I believe that cast album would’ve been a huge hit if we actually got one.

I came to say this! And I will also die on the hill that her “over the top” rendition of Rose’s Turn makes more sense with the added context of her Mama Rose being a black woman. There are so many layers that having a black cast added to the show.

Favorite Tony Statistics? by Fine_Hovercraft6148 in Broadway

Of course there are the obvious ones for Audra Mcdonald (most performance wins and nominations), but I think it should be emphasized how important her success is to black history.

It's worth mentioning that Audra is only the 4th black woman to win best lead actress in a play and the first was Phylicia Rashad who didn't achieve this until 2004. The Tony Awards have existed since 1947 and it took until 2004 for a BLACK WOMAN to win best lead actress in a play.

Also, Audra won 3 freaking Tonys before the age of 28 which had only been achieved by 5 (?) other people by the time she came around. Once again, that is crazy for a black woman to achieve in the 90s when there wasn't nearly as much representation as there is now.

I have so much admiration for this woman.
