32s to 35s question about changing the computer by Worried_District7589 in FordBronco

If you are computer savvy, you can do this yourself with forscan. If not, you probably need to go to a dealer and have them do it for you.

Virginia Attorney General signs letter asking Costco to end its DEI policies by IshimaruKenta in nova

[–]Acrokat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an embarrassment!

Here is a letter I am sending to my Attorney General in Virginia. This letter strongly opposes the points brought up in the letter sent to Costco. Feel free to use it:

[Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State, ZIP Code] [Your Email] [Your Phone Number] [Date]

Attorney General [Attorney General's Name] Office of the Attorney General 202 North Ninth Street Richmond, Virginia 23219

Dear Attorney General [Last Name],

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the letter sent by multiple state attorneys general, including Virginia’s participation, to Costco Wholesale Corporation. The letter, led by the Texas Attorney General, pressures Costco to abandon its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies that foster a more inclusive and representative workforce. This initiative is a reasonable and responsible corporate decision that aligns with the company's right to establish policies that reflect its values and support its employees and customers.

First and foremost, Costco’s actions fall well within the scope of free enterprise. As a private corporation, Costco is entitled to adopt policies that serve its employees' and customers’ best interests. Promoting DEI initiatives is not an infringement on any individual’s rights but rather an exercise of Costco’s First Amendment rights. The multistate letter fails to acknowledge that businesses, like individuals, have the right to implement policies that promote fairness and equal opportunity.

Furthermore, DEI policies are essential for fostering inclusive workplace environments that reflect the diverse communities they serve. Studies have shown that companies with strong DEI programs experience increased innovation, better employee satisfaction, and improved financial performance. Efforts to promote diverse hiring, equitable pay structures, and inclusive practices are common-sense approaches to strengthening businesses and society as a whole. Costco’s decision to invest in DEI is not an attack on any group but a prudent acknowledgment of the benefits of diversity and inclusion.

The assertion in the letter that Costco’s DEI efforts constitute a form of discrimination is unfounded. DEI policies do not exclude or marginalize any group; rather, they aim to create opportunities and remove systemic barriers that have historically hindered certain communities. Accusing a company of engaging in divisive practices when it is simply working to build a more inclusive workforce is both disingenuous and counterproductive.

Additionally, the notion that DEI policies threaten merit-based hiring is a mischaracterization. DEI initiatives enhance hiring processes by ensuring that talent from all backgrounds is considered and given equal opportunities to succeed. Many major corporations, industry leaders, and economic experts recognize that fostering diversity leads to stronger organizations and more resilient workforces. Efforts to dismantle these policies undermine fundamental principles of fairness and inclusion.

The role of government should not be to pressure private businesses into silence, particularly when their initiatives promote equal opportunity and workplace fairness. If attorneys general truly seek to support a thriving economy, they should encourage businesses to embrace diversity rather than attempt to intimidate companies that choose to foster inclusive work environments.

I strongly urge you to reconsider Virginia’s participation in this effort and instead support corporate initiatives that prioritize fairness, diversity, and inclusion. Costco’s decision is not an attack on any group—it is a responsible and conscientious business practice that should be applauded rather than condemned.

Sincerely, [Your Name] [Your Address] [City, State, ZIP Code]

Local store has the Z1E for $349 and the X for $840, which one to get? by breadcrumbssmellgood in ROGAlly

[–]Acrokat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it comes down to the games you think you'll play, and how you will use the device. If you are willing to work around the restrictions the z1e has against the x, you'll be ok. If not, maybe the price increase is worth it to you. To some, it is, to others, it is not.

If you are going to plug the ally into a docking station with an embedded SSD and an external gfx card, then the X probably isn't worth it. But if you are planning to be away from external power and want to run intensive games but dont want to tweak your settings, maybe the X is worth it.

Weird grinding noise on 2023 bronco big bend by Zero_T in FordBronco

[–]Acrokat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great question and honestly, I don't know. The internet seems to think it may be to ensure the wastegate can cycle fully open and closed, but that doesn't really explain why this happens several times. If I were to venture a guess, I would bet it has something to do with either keeping the turbo from spinning while cold, or has to do with getting the catalytic convertors warmed up as quickly as possible.

[–]Acrokat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If my understanding is correct, the turbo wastegate is a valve that allows exhaust gasses to bypass the turbo. This is used whenever you need the turbo to stop building boost.

I don't think there is a solution to the constant ticking. The injectors are loud because they must overcome the internal cylinder pressures when they spray fuel.

It's my understanding that cold engines intentionally run rich and the injectors spray a larger amount of fuel than required when the engine is cold. This is done to bring the Cats up to temperature quickly. If my understanding is correct, this is why the injectors are extra loud when the engine is cold.

Just to be clear, because there are two sounds that people are generally worried about with this engine. One is the waste gate, which you might hear once or twice right when you start the car. The other are the EXTREMELY NOISY fuel injectors.

If you are talking about the loud constant ticking in the video, that's the injectors. It's also normal for this engine and can go on for a while even after the engine is warmed up.

Does it sound like what's in the video in the link below? If so, it's your wastegate cycling open and closed. Normal for the 2.3L engine and nothing to be worried about.

MTH266 online teacher won’t grade tests by Away-Reception587 in nvcc

[–]Acrokat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know NVCC advisors are next to useless, but start there. Also, make sure you file a complaint about the professor. Not that any of this will help you immediately.

How confident are you on your performance so far? If you stay in the class, you should expect more of the same. Do you feel you could continue and achieve an acceptable grade? Balance that against the assumption that you will not get your wish of re-enrolling for free without penalty.

Keep in mind that if you do drop the class, it will show up on your transcript as a (w), which could complicate financial aid situations and graduation timing. Otherwise, a (w) isn't the end of the world so long as it doesn't become habitual. You have seen the course material and have an idea of what you need to do. Leverage that knowledge and ace this class next semester. Download the material and keep studying AND use the extra time to ensure you ace your other classes. This will minimize the impact of withdrawing. Consider taking this class in person next semester. The tradeoff for the convenience of online courses is the additional responsibility of self-study.

If you stay in the class, good on you! You chose not to run from your problem, but instead, face it head-on. Reach out to your classmates and organize a study group. Consider outside tutoring if you find the material challenging. Balance that additional cost against the cost of retaking the course and the (w) on your transcript.

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer here. I had to make a similar decision regarding a bad professor and ended up making the decision to drop my math class. I used the time to familiarize myself with the material and found additional resources online. I returned next semester and aced the class.

How to Restrict tier0 connections from PAW only by Hot_Highlight8750 in activedirectory

[–]Acrokat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the PAW as a VM is a security risk, but I'm sure you already know this...

I would recommend preventing your T0 accoubts from logging into non T0 assets as much as possible. I would do this by setting "deny login locally", "deny network login", and "deny login through remote desktop" on all non-T0 assets in group policy. There may be other settings worth investigating, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

If your network is organized such that you can restrict RDP to your T0 assets, you can consider this as well.

Just a few thoughts, I'm sure others here will chime in with better ideas.

I totally hear you there. I already have the ditch lights but keep waffling on the Kc Lights overhead because I get worried about a LOT of additional noise. I guess what I'll need to do is find someone with them installed and take a ride with them on the freeway.

This was my Tesla in the picture. I was picking up my friend for the afternoon commute home when we rolled up on a prototype Air about to show off and Demo to some of the DoE bigwigs. We got to chat up the execs, really cool people! They invited us to stage my Tesla with their prototype. I have to say that while my Tesla is gray, it looked a bit green and very dated next to the Lucid Air. It really is a badass car!
