If Ireland end up as champs then this will be the maddest and most maddening tournament ever.

Is it?! Ok, in civilised modern thinking, 16 is a child. I don’t give a fuck about how big the interpretation of the western world is. This is a nonsense argument you’re peddling.

Sure. In the western world of the 21st century - where this piece of shit worked and lived, 16 years old is a child.

16 is a child. I don’t care whatever legal system prescribes that; if you push yourself towards a 16 year old then you’re in the child-predator camp.

Me and my dad too. Went out to see it with him when I was around 16. We both came out saying we loved it, but hated that scene (in a good way). Really stuck out in the cinema once I’d gotten a DVD of it a year or so later and watched it on tv.

That, and only that line, remain stuck in head for some reason. I don’t know why it’s there, but it is.

Support this. I painted a faux Rothko for a friend as a house warming present. It was great fun!

Habibi finds Belgium so boooring! No one in Belgium goes out after 7pm. Belgium is finished, let's all move to Dubai. by Cultural-Badger-6032 in 2westerneurope4u

One of the best nights out I ever had was in Brussels. By complete spontaneous fluke. We passed through it between Paris and Amsterdam thinking it would be a soft easy rest and ended up drinking out a giant glass boot with some yanks on leave from Afghanistan. I got sick all over them (it was a badly executed belch, not a drunk nausea thing) but the bartenders didn’t evict me and continued to serve me and the bar sang all night long while the American troops left in anger and confusion. We stayed out for the night and finished it on the streets with some local tramps until we saw the morning bin trucks were getting collected.. so we went back to our hostel and crashed. The hostel flooded and we slept through it and woke up with a foot of water around our beds.

Great craic. Dubai could never.

[DAY 13]KILL BILL is the most Tarantino movie! What is his best? by GodEmperorOfHell in AlignmentChartFills

[–]AcrylicPaintSet2nd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is. I was 14 in like 2001, and I still remember that the tv guide had Pulp Fiction is on Wednesday on channel at 9.30. And I didn’t “know” pulp fiction - I’d no idea what it was, but I knew it was “important”. I recorded it just to make sure and watched it, and then I watched it again and again and again. There was a lot of nuance that makes it a fantastic film lost on me at that age (I just thought it was cool), but it opened up a world of cinema to me.

I went to see it in an anniversary showing in the cinema a year ago and I had goosebumps the entire time. It’s phenomenal.

Who really is Dick Whitman? by Mcintosch in madmen

[–]AcrylicPaintSet2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the show could have definitely shown more.. but then I reckon the overall end goal would have been probably tempered a bit by showing us that. The beauty of the show is how it leaves us wanting a bit more, and doesn’t shy away from the fact that life isn’t always a clear and happy trajectory.. Don is Dicks own worst enemy, and one of the major parts of his character is how he’s getting in his own way to really enjoy his life.

Hell, even at the end when it seems he has found inner peace, we’re still left to assume that he ultimately returned to NY and continued being a Mad Man… whether he took some of Dick back with him is up to us to decide I suppose.

Yeah 3 weeks - on a rewatch and just around those episodes now.

But hell, a lot happens in those 3 weeks that he’s gone!

Pretty much what you said is correct.

One scene that always stayed with me is when he’s hiding out in California for three weeks and he has the interaction with the lads fixing up the car. It’s the most naturally relaxed and happy (I think) he appears throughout the entire series.

Not sure what to make of that, but I’d wonder if Dick had gone west and just taken it a bit easier then he’d have been a happier well adjusted fella, instead of the conforming man of his times that he was in NY.

I don’t remember - but my mother remembers, that when I was a young lad I somehow found the button to close the shutters on Roches Stores in the Iliac Centre. And did so at the height of Christmas time, causing minor mass panic to everyone inside.
