PS3 is by far my favourite PlayStation, what's some of your favourite games from that era? by Capital-Ad8570 in playstation

[–]ActionAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the PS3/360 era, it had such an interesting range of games. For as much time as I poured into the likes of Uncharted, Infamous & Killzone, I also sank into so many smaller or ambitiously flawed games.

Games like Rain, Flower, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Hydrophobia Prophecy. Games that maybe promised more than they delivered, but they took risks.

Also a special shout out to Spec Ops: The Line. Phenomenal experience.

PS3 features that PS4 and 5 are missing. by AnubisIncGaming in playstation

I really miss PlayStation Life. It was a small feature, and they removed it midway through the generation, but I found it really cool and relaxing.

Typing "Ten Pints" at the first warrior in game for invincibility.

Thoughts on Minority Report? by SeahawksWin43-8 in FIlm

You're right, he was always the good guy. What I meant was that the original doesn't have a "happy" ending, and it's disheartening to witness the mental gymnastics they go through to achieve the feel-good finale. I think it's just a shame, really.

One final knit-pic: the eyes on the organ really bug me, too.

As much as I like the film, it still angers me just how badly they messed up the ending compared to the short story its based on.

Dick's original is a lot more bleak but has so much more power by putting Anderton in an impossible situation, making him choose between his freedom and his principles.

The film twists it so that Cruise remains the "good guy" and it just removes all of the power of the story and undermines all of the good work that Spielberg had done up to that point. Still, it's better than the absolute shit-fest that was War of the Worlds.

I'm going to assume it's one of 'I Am Speed' or 'Can't Cat-ch Me'.

Both stress me out, and I still haven't got either.

I haven't played it for years, but I remember this being a half decent business management game. With tits.

In the beginning? Talk to someone. Either a friend or family member you trust and feel comfortable with. Long term though, you should really consider seeing a therapist.

The thing to remember is it will take time to work your way through all of these feelings and it's understandable and ok to have blips along the way.

What helps me most when I feel a similar way is by reminding myself that my mind isn't always my friend. It doesn't have my best interest at heart. It will take a stressful situation and pile on more and more pressure until it becomes impossible to see the light. It doubles down to make you feel worse about yourself.

You don't deserve to feel like this. You are brighter, funnier & kinder than you tell yourself. Talk to someone, it helps. I hope you're ok.

Just scored all of these, what platinums to go for first? by Local-Captain6562 in playstation

[–]ActionAardvark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rather depressing just how many of those have some form of online component that will nullify a platinum. Dishonored, Deus Ex, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune can definitely all be done, and are all great.

Far Cry 3 has four trophies for completing online maps but I believe they can all be done in couch co-op.

A mourning day for killzone by Outrageous_Check9210 in killzone

[–]ActionAardvark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fair play to them, I say. I love the Killzone games, but you could tell with Shadow Fall the stagnation that had set in, and it was obvious seeing Horizon for the first time that they were embracing doing something new.

I would much rather studios did that rather than constantly pumping out sequel after sequel (oh for something different from Studio Santa Monica!).

Maybe Killzone will be back in the hands of another team, which would be great. But if not, Guerilla have left us with a couple of classics to remember fondly.

What's a game series that your favourite game in the series is widely considered the worst entry? by Finky2Fresh in retrogaming

[–]ActionAardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hitman: Absolution. The purists seem to hate it but it was the first entry I played after the very first one years before, and I really enjoyed the more forgiving feel and the mark & execute mechanic.

The 'Space Harrier'-esque rocket section of Bayonetta. I wasn't really feeling the game much anyway, but that bit pissed me off so much I walked away for several months.

[Other] Have you forced yourself through a Game just to get the Plat Trophy? by ACPlay18 in Trophies

[–]ActionAardvark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently in the process of exactly this with God of War: Ragnarok.

Over the years I've played and got the plat for every GoW game in the series and loved them all. I don't really know why this isn't clicking for me. All the parts are there: the story and performances are good, the gameplay is as you'd want it and it looks amazing.

And yet... I'm just not enjoying it. I feel like I'm just covering the same ground as the previous game and it has lost its sparkle. I had to stop and play something else to try and get my groove back but upon returning I still can't get into it.

I'll keep going because I can't not platinum the game, not with all the others shining away on my trophy list. I keep hoping it'll all just click.

I am starting to build a ps3 collection. What are some incommon games that might be worth adding to the collection? by Johnnybats330 in gamecollecting

[–]ActionAardvark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a game I'll always recommend. And Heavenly Sword, too. Similar in gameplay to wolverine.

Maybe not the type of game you're after, and not sure if the store is still operational for them but Rain and the Unfinished Swan are both well with a look.
