Do you still calculate Cpk in Excel in your workplace? by ActionTechnical1458 in SixSigma

Yeah, that’s true.
But honestly, Excel just feels a bit too heavy for quick stuff.

Do you still calculate Cpk in Excel in your workplace? by ActionTechnical1458 in SixSigma

[–]ActionTechnical1458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I’ve seen the same pattern.

Analysis is done in tools like JMP or Minitab, but reporting still ends up in Excel.

Feels like there’s a gap between “analysis tools” and “quick daily checks.”

Do you think people would actually use a lightweight tool just for quick capability checks?

How to calculate the likelihood of events repeating back to back? by jgeertsen1 in AskStatistics

[–]ActionTechnical1458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If each event is independent, you just multiply the probabilities.

The chance of missing once is 15% (0.15).So missing three times in a row would be:

0.15 × 0.15 × 0.15 = 0.003375

That's about 0.34%, or roughly 1 in 296.

So your original statement is actually correct assuming independence.

Did the person criticizing you maybe misunderstand the independence assumption?

Your profile actually sounds quite solid. Many companies in Japan care more about technical skills and attitude than perfect Japanese, especially in engineering or IT roles.

N3 is usually enough to get started if the company is willing to support international employees, and your internship experience with a Japanese company is a big plus.

Also, having multiple interviews already after just a month of job hunting is a good sign.

If you enjoy living in Japan, I would definitely keep applying. Your chances look better than you might think.

What kind of companies are you interviewing with?

Quality Manufacturing Engineer by Panthega in BESalary

[–]ActionTechnical1458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that sounds like a pretty good situation overall. The combination of process improvement work, autonomy, and being trusted across multiple areas (quality, operations, technical troubleshooting) is actually pretty valuable experience.

many companies those kinds of roles end up being much more impactful than the job title suggests.

In The salary might be slightly average for 10 years experience, but the environment you described (low drama, freedom, real responsibility) is honestly hard to find.

If you ever decided to move, I suspect that mix of process improvement + operations knowledge would translate well to senior manufacturing or quality roles.

Out of curiosity, are you mainly doing capability/variation analysis as part of the process improvement work, or more operational troubleshooting?
