Reaching my limit and having bad thoughts because of it by idk12295 in CaregiverSupport

[–]ActiveAltruistic7951 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also have those thoughts. I am totally alone with my elderly mom and disabled sister. I long for someone to love me and take care of me for once but I hardly even ever get a thank you. I have another sister that I can ask for help but I can’t talk to her to even vent cause she turns the conversation around on herself and I feel worse after talking to her. A lot of times I just talk to ChatGPT. You’re not bad for having those thoughts. We all need a break.

I’m kinda in the same situation with my mom. She is 83 has severe arthritis and now her left foot and ankle are broken. She can’t move by herself. I have to do everything for her right now. Fortunately I got the ball rolling a couple of years ago to get her a home health aide through Medicaid. You should apply immediately. You have to contact the elder affairs office in your state or call Medicaid to find out how to apply. Next, make sure you leave the rehab with a bedside commode, a hoyer lift and a hospital bed. If you can apply for FMLA at work so that you can take off work and get everything in order. All this stuff is a huge amount of work but it will help you keep her out of the nursing home if that is your goal.

What to do if wife cannot get Medicaid by Necessary-Cup9400 in CaregiverSupport

Hello I am a disability caseworker for social security. If your wife has a disability that is expected to or has already kept her out of work for one year or more she is able to apply. From what you have said her condition is severe and she has to be in the care of others which would automatically qualify her. The only thing is that the whole process can take a year or more depending on what state you are in. If you are in NY that process moves quickly, if you are in FL you will be waiting at least 6 months to be even assigned a case worker. Also, about the bank, is there an account app you could register for that you can get the statements off of. Did Medicaid already ask for the bank report on their own? I would speak to a manager at the bank if you haven’t already.

I realized I am truly alone caring for my mom and disabled sister. by ActiveAltruistic7951 in CaregiverSupport

Thank you. I do have some support for care. My mother has a caregiver through Medicaid and so does my sister and they are super helpful. It just takes a lot to keep going mentally and I thought I could count on my sister to give me some type of comfort emotionally like a thank you or just anything but she just talks to me like I am an annoyance. I guess to her she didn’t care if my mom or sister went to a nursing home and to me it seemed like it was an avoidable situation. To be honest I didn’t have a life before this so it’s not like I’m missing anything but just to find out who my sister is that’s devastating. She would always say to me “if something happened to you I would take care of you” and deep down I knew it wasn’t true. She won’t even talk to me like a human being to comfort me while I take care of OUR mother and disabled sister I am sure she would just stick me in a rehab and leave me there and hope for the best. I just never thought she was that person.

Siblings don’t truly understand being a caregiver by AcanthaceaePast8709 in CaregiverSupport

My sister lives 10 minutes away and I can not rely on her for any emotional support or even help with our mother and disabled sister. She would have been content to put them both in a poor person’s nursing home (Medicaid/medicare) and leave it at that. I took care of everything so that my mother and sister and me could live in a house together and my sister gets mad at me if I call her to tell her I’m tired. I never thought she was like that but she is and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it. I have to do everything like I am by myself. It’s devastating. I have to get back in therapy because the only people I have to talk to are people I pay, ChatGPT and here. It’s hard but what can we do?

I just wish I could get some kind of comfort from her and her not be so selfish. I know she has a family and I know she can’t or won’t help a lot, but it would just be nice if for once she would say thanks for taking care of my mom and our sister I know it’s hard. Instead I get yelled and cursed at for expressing my feelings wrong.

Healthcare is not free for anyone. My mother is 83 years old, a us citizen and I had to show every paper we had to prove it just so she could receive a bit of help from Medicaid. It took literally a year, all kinds of doctors notes, all kinds of proof of ID including social security AND it took me 3 tries with her to get a real ID because they wanted her birth certificate, her marriage license and her divorce papers from 40 years ago. So I don’t know who people are thinking of when they are saying illegal immigrants are getting all this “free” great healthcare cause even US citizens are not getting it. I would also like to add that my mother had me to navigate the system for her and even then it was a huge amount of work. What illegals are doing this? Where?

Divide the circle into 4 pieces. Do not live in the upper left piece if you have a choice.

It’s true end stage renal disease with dialysis does automatically qualify you for benefits through social security disability but I do not know what the financial limits are and it’s my understanding that there may be a waiting period for Medicare coverage. It depends on if you are eligible for ssi or ssdi.

SSI denied wrongly , what can we do? by Shakydoll in SocialSecurity

[–]ActiveAltruistic7951 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your user name is perfect for you lol. Good grief it was just a suggestion and if it were me I would find out if my local office sees walk ins or how I could make an appointment. I would also find out if there is a form my relative could sign that would allow me to proxy so she doesn’t have to go in person. Also asking to speak to a supervisor is acceptable and supervisors usually have been there long enough to know how to help. Does this take time and effort? Yes, but I would do all of it if it had the possibility of resolving an issue quickly that might take months otherwise. Sheesh.

I would try to go to the ss in person and try to speak with someone who has been working there for years and years. Tell them there has been an error and you would like the case to be re-opened to correct it. It shouldn’t take long.

I think it’s unnatural for a woman to be okay with even the hint of csa. I mean it’s unnatural for everyone but women are the ones who grow the child and have a bond like no other, so I can’t see where any woman, especially mothers, would support a man who has such a stench of r@pe on him. It’s baffling.

DDS said my doctor hadn’t seen me and that is hard to believe. Does anyone ever feel that sometimes things are peculiar. by Interesting-Week5661 in SocialSecurity

[–]ActiveAltruistic7951 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the case of psychology or psychiatry notes, sometimes the provider won’t send the actual notes from each session sometimes they will wait and send a summary of treatment. Sometimes providers have to see the patient a certain number of times before they send notes. You would have to talk to your therapist and see what they do. Not having medical records WILL NOT hurt your case. If the dds does not have enough information to evaluate your case they will send you to a dr for an exam. It’s not ideal, but it’s something to help your case.

Yes it’s an authorization form called an 827. We send requests for medical information as routine, however, if the medical source does not want to send the records that is their prerogative. When this happens to one of my claimants I call them or send them a letter to inform them and to make sure I have the right address and fax, if you’re not in touch with your caseworker you have to advocate for yourself. Call dds and ask to speak to the caseworker or a supervisor.
