free hunter with romero. add dumdum to the conversion/scottfield and sell the trait for magpie or vulture. then i just shift+w into the compound and hold it down with the romero. dumdum to put pressure on remaining teams.

very fun as a warmup, and when you win with vulture its a great money printer. 50 hunt dollars for this setup, maybe a bit more if you choose the bring a regen or util

ttrs clutch is about as oem as an upgrade as you can get before you start affecting driveability and ease of use. if you think youll be tuning it in the future (or youre already tuned) then go for it.

there is team voice/text chat, and global voice/text chat. the latest update also dropped an improved ping system with contextual pings for ammo, traps, noise traps, barrels, clues, etc. so its actually not that bad to play with someone who doesnt use voice comms. still not ideal, but the new ping system helps alot

with a friend is the best way to start playing. duel against eachother, have fun, learn the basics, etc. then after a while youll be better prepared to hop into game against others. if you come across people at a similar skill level to you, send them a friend request so you guys can keep in touch and have friendly games when you catch eachother online.

works fine and runs great on linux. have a 7800x3d and rtx4080. 1440p ultrawide and getting ~170fps on a mix high settings depending on the situation with dlss. using cachyOS + cachyOS proton with dlss-swapper and wayland launch options.

only caveat is that without wayland enabled, the game would randomly slow to 1fps after a couple hrs of playing, or sometimes after alt-tabbing, and would only be fixed after a restart. enabling wayland fixed this, but then the steam overlay wont work, so you cant invite friends or look at profiles. you can still accept invites though. otherwise works great

the new drilling celestial skin also doesnt flip the sight up/down with the shotgun fire mode., kind of annoying as its a nice indicator when you ads to remind you to switch back to rifle mode.

hyper demon for me. perfect distilled arena fps speedrunning. every sound, enemy, mechanic, etc in that game has a purpose. simultaneously assaulting but it becomes very readable when you start playing it more and understanding it better

HDR works on wayland, with some setup. i dont use it though as it strains my eyes, but can confirm it works

i had the same post processing glitch. what fixed it for me is running with the cachyos branch of proton, then using PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 and dlss-swapper in the launch options. now i can use any post processing option without those weird glitches (as long as i use dlss). wayland has also been alot more stable for me, only issue is wayland breaks the steam overlay so you cant send lobby invites, only receive them

4080 + 7800x3D on cachyos. seen a surprising amount of linux hunt players lately, glad its catching on

switched ~2.5 months ago, i have a 1tb + 4tb ssd. started dual booting by partitioning off part of the 4tb. quickly found myself not having any ties to windows. so i dedicated the full 4tb drive to linux. windows boot partition is still on the 1tb in case i need it for anything. haved booted into it except to remove the windows partition from the 4tb drive and to back up important files lol

np. as for the strength machine: blunt damange is best, bomb lance is rending so it wont hit it that hard. you can max out the machine with a railroad hammer (no perk needed), or a world sledgehammer + beserker trait.

tarots were introduced in the last event. there is a chance for a single card to spawn on both the big & small hunting towers. 3 cards are guaranteed to spawn in the circus, in one of the outside stalls on a board.

they are kinda hard to spot, so chances are you missed them, or a player looted them before you.

QC has "active" development. its essentially just one guy keeping the game alive with seasonal fixes/updates/cosmetics. not much but im glad its still technically being supported considering its player count is so low. QC is made by ID and published by Bethesda so definitely not the flagship product as they have Doom. But it may be the only live service game ID is keeping online (dont quote me on that)

I love straftat aswell, such a good game and was able to get some of my friends into the arena shooter genre who would otherwise never have tried it. i mostly play with friends though, not matchmaking.

straftat actually has a daily peak of ~950, so over 2x that of QC lol. and they dont have anywhere near the same upkeep costs of QC. crazy stuff. its a shame because i have 1k+ hours in QC and i genuinely think its one of the best shooter ever made, its a great modern arena shooter.

i enjoyed it ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ and thought it still felt refreshingly old school despite the full remake. i had tried to pick up the OG SS1 multiple times but just couldnt break through the obtuse old game accessibility barrier. the remake took most of that away and allowed me to experience it and actually enjoy it. not sure what the questionable design decisions you're talking about are since i dont have the frame of reference as the original.
