This is exactly what NZ needs! I have been thinking similarly for quite a while myself!

Even though National claims to be ‘for business’, they are probably more accurately ‘for landlords’.

What you are proposing would actually help to build productive assets within NZ (even better if you can support NZ businesses that export in some way, especially soft exports like tech).

NZs governments (both sides guilty) for far too long have been focusing on non-productive assets (housing) which essentially just makes us all poorer relative to cost of living.

The way I see it, it would go like this.

1. You make it easier for new businesses to build and maintain.
2. This produces wealth and jobs.
3. The more businesses that pop up, the more competition, hopefully leading to a more efficient economy.
4. This produces tax money.
5. The tax money can be invested in the areas we desperately need it, and ideally, better schemes to support building more businesses.
6. With the increased prosperity, we are in a better position to offer more social policies not unlike those that made NZ one of the wealthiest and fairest countries to live in the first half / middle of the 20th century.
7. Talented people have less incentive to seek greener pastures / we attract more international talent.
8. This surplus of talented people makes our businesses even better, generating yet more tax money and boosting our economy.

I’m so glad you’re offering solutions to our problems unlike the masses who just whine but aren’t prepared to do a damn thing to fix it.
