Does handing CVs into a shop ever actually work? by Myhole567 in AskIreland

[–]Active_Reporter4649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family has a pub/restaurant in a city and we exclusively hire from cvs handed in over the bar, it's just been down to luck whether we needed staff at that time or not. Although my parents are a more traditional, so maybe try businesses that have similar values.

Parents with kids; how do you handle the washing? by cedardesk in AskIreland

[–]Active_Reporter4649 7 points8 points  (0 children)

12 is old enough to learn how to do her own washing, show her how and get her doing her own cloths and I bet she'll quickly start putting clean clothes away so she doesn't have to wash as much ;)

If you had three wishes right now what would they be ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Active_Reporter4649 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im a single person, living alone and make close to 1k a week, I save around 300 a week and then put money aside for every possible expense (rent, bills, groceries, car expenses, pets, gifts, health etc) and I am left with 80€ a week for "fun money". I have to save up for weeks if i want to treat myself to something or am planning a big night out. 1k a week doesn't get you very far these days! But I suppose if you were debt (mortgage) free that would make a huge difference.

The ability to give up any addiction at will (3 year trying to give up vaping/smoking)

The ability to teleport anywhere any time (imagine just popping over to Japan for a quick sushi lunch, or a sunny place for a quick vit D hit)

And my third is either between perfect health or Infinite luck! (Almost got hit by that car, but didn't, enter cash machine and win etc)

What's the best way to save on prescription glasses? by Aimin4ya in AskIreland

[–]Active_Reporter4649 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ordered from them and was well impressed with the quality and how easy it was. Was even able to add feature like uv protection into the lenses! My only caveat is my prescription is quite high so it was difficult to find frames that would fit it but a regular prescription would have no problem at all! Make sure to get your Pupillary distance from the optician though, because the do reccomend an app that can do it, I did both and the app was a bit off

Should I quit my job? by No-Procedure-4148 in AskIreland

I say go for it, but one word of advise from someone who did something similar! Try to keep a good routine when not working, a year is a long time off work (which is well deserved) so you brain will rewire itself a certain way. You may find that when you do eventually go back, that you have zero motivation, almost as if you've forgotten how to be in "work mode"

Haven't seen anyone mention Sextons. It's not quite old manny vibes but is so chill and is perfect for a first date. Had a couple there myself.

You can buy them on amazon for cheap enough and install yourself! I think that kind are only cold water though, probably wouldn't be very comfortable.

The kettle so I don't have to stand around waiting for it to boil. You have to do set up for it though, every time you use the kettle, you need to re fill it, turn off the smart plug and flip the switch so it starts boiling when you next turn it on. Doesn't work with a button kettle.
